Wait, I'm confused, I thought you were one of the CIG fans...

That poster posts a lot of marketing type material, they also stated this: Always plenty good info from him so we are very lucky to have him! Post #7124

That's internal marketing speak.

I suppose you could be a fan, especially when you're part of the company making $117+ mil for a turning out a turd. Not to mention all of their other posts and their signature of all things.

Just pointing out there are some intentionally deceptive people coming from the RSI/CIG/SC side of things, and it is getting even sketchier as more and more evidence comes out that things aren't "open" and there is a lot of deceit and obfuscation regarding the product and from upper management.

With the rumor of them hiring a company to internally make sure no one is leaking any information out - from a company that is supposedly "open development" - I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't divert some of the funds to create a band of people to post positively for the product ala Driv3r. It is a rumor, but with the evolving shadiness coming from RSI/CIG/SC over the past year - it is pretty much 50/50 at this point if it is true or not. That's the sad thing, it shouldn't even be a question and yet...

As with most of these things, its believability is its most saddening and damning aspect

Do you think it's a procedurally generated whoopsie or a whoopsie carefully, exquisitely, painstakingly, artfully developed by Magic Germans, and delivered with great panache, full of fidelity, and ready to be immersed in Morrowind-style water, to the finest detail?

...Sorry, just want to take a moment and bask in the logic here...............ok. You purport that because you cannot play it in the game, it means that it's not in the game. Funny because I bet that any developer worth their salt would agree that if has been developed and resides within their main code stream, it's in the game...

I am a developer. I have been for over 20 years. Whether or not I'm worth my salt is not for me to say, but I've never had any complaints from my employers.

There are many features in our development system. Not all of them will ever get released to our customers. Doesn't matter that they are being developed. Doesn't matter that we hope they will be released one day. Until they are released THEY ARE NOT IN THE SYSTEM.

This is so true it needs repeating. The number of hours (days, weeks, months, years) I have seen people plough into devplex, tweaking this and that and making shiny stuff, only to find that in prodplex it all turns to lumpy gunk with a stink nobody can describe.

... Here is a novel idea, step away and let the game be developed; give CIG the time it needs to release something that is more tangible to their promises.

And this is the nub. How much more time do we give CiG? 1 year, 2 years, 5 years....? The evidence is clear that cig either cannot or will not say.

Actually it's a totally moot point, as they already have your money, and have been busy spending it.

So here's a novel idea - cig give us dates they know they can commit to, and then deliver. Simplez.

When you leave school, and join the world of work you will realise the utter stupidity of these words. Sorry but this is possibly the most rediculous thing I've read in a long long long time.

What's a main code stream? Do you perhaps mean "branch"?

Or is CIG so advanced they invented their own version control system?

A main code stream is the unpleasant fluid that trickles out of a ship pipeline, or it might be untreated sewage.

Erhm .. really ? What if they're using Perforce source control ?

Then the main stream really is the "branch" that gets code reviewed and released.

I had that same argument with another SC fan here in this thread and the response I got was "you don't know what doxxing means". You can't beat their argument with logic or facts, because it's not based on logic or facts.

Maybe you should try quoting the whole post and the posts after ;)

Also I don't know why I'm labelled as an SC fan, even went as far to provide you links for you know.."facts".

/sigh

Just fun evening in a Org match.

Wow. What a yawn-fest that was.

Sorry, but as a developer with many years of experience I would never agree with such nonsense.

*Mod hat off

...

And just to head you off, here's someone approaching a station from far outside its "instance" range in timelaspe too.

https://thumbs.gfycat.com/GargantuanKnobbyChanticleer-mobile.mp4

Hey Tooterfish, thanks for that second link with the station. Do you have a link to the context? How did the author managed to drop from Supercruise right on the station trajectory? I would imagine that lining up the right point of intersect must be close to impossible at SC speeds, even the slowest ones. A single fraction of a second too early or too late would put you hundreds of Km away anyways I suspect, no?

He's not supercruising, it's just sped up footage of normal space. One would assume he just lined up by targeting the station and using the compass. ;)
