I do, however, think they will continue development. They have a lot of talented people, and in my own experience people with talent tend to not stay in roles they find mind-numbingly boring or ultimately pointless. We will see something released eventually. There's even the possibility it might even be good! As to when though - that is anybody's guess - but 36 months at least is mine.
That's the one thing I'm not entirely certain they do have going for them. They do have some talented people, and it appears they are taking in a lot of entry level as well, and they also did have quite a few talented people that have now left. I think the latter is more of an indication that the more talented people have dwindled since the beginning and it mostly likely hasn't stopped yet. No one likes to refactor in development, but the person holding the stirrup and the whips is never happy so things appear to keep going back to the drawing board or things, in this case definitely, getting either scratched or put on back burners indefinitely. That is one absolute way to drive away good artists/programmers/modellers/etc. I don't think they've actually hit the critical mass yet for truly upsetting their devs, but I bet they are getting close, because no one ever wants an absolute rank failure on their resume and especially when there was so much more money that went into it than many successes combined in the same genre still don't add up to the same amount of invested dollars.
Some of these people appear to be far too unhinged to leave it at disappointment.
Sean Murray received death threats from some nuts because NMS was delayed
two months. Yes, it was delayed previously but still an additional two months and still even then DEATH THREATS FOR A DELAYED SOFTWARE RELEASE?! There are some incredibly mental individuals that play computer games.
Now tack on some that are clearly over the moon that have put in thousands and...
