So heres roberts talking about AI

...

Either case is just plain crazy at this point of project. from 2012 to 2016 they haventh managed to lockdown the final design for AI. Thats shocking for product that has missed several launch dates.

But but but... weren't they using http://kythera.ai/ ? The most amazing AI ever ever ever?

(BTW, it's really not amazing stuff. It's a basic toolbox and a state machine kinda thing. Oh and pathfinding, because Dijkstra is rocket science.)

The irony of all this is CIG will scrap Cryengine/Starengine whatever Frankenstein they've created, approach FD and do a deal to license out the Cobra engine.

XD.

Stay tuned.

I'm going to assume this isn't a joke and reply accordingly.

IMO, such a drastic engine migration is out of the question for now, unless they scrap or at least heavily modify everything they did up to date. CryEngine and Cobra are massively different engines, so I don't know if assets created for Cryengine will work reliably in Cobra (not that they work reliably in Cryengine, to be honest).

It was a joke, but the way Roberts and team seem to be breaking the Cryengine with each patch it wouldn't surprise me if their dev's were looking at alternatives.

And pay FD for every copy of whatever game sold? That will be good business for FD.

But knowing the chairman's pride he will not.

I expect someone just forgot to enable the "turn all bugs off" option in cryengine, it's a bit like the underwater thing - it's easy to miss!

Someone should tell Derek he is posting from the future... "July 10th 2016" :/

"At present, the point at which all of Star Citizen's components will be brought together for a full release is scheduled to happen later this year."

Someone ought to clue the gamesindustrybiz guys in... even the MVP isn't going to happen later this year.

Do they do any research before publishing?

$116 million could rent secret government time displacement equipment, this is how SC will be successful, feature complete and released on time. A CiG artist snuck along and added his own signature to the Mona Lisa whilst the paint was still wet, this has caused ripples in the fabric of time catapulting Derek one month into the future. This is fortunate because it makes target acquisition difficult for the RSI corp killer cyborgs.

Order has been restored - it's been edited.

Derek's up early today - the hive are probably mostly still abed - those comments should heat up later if the Kotaku page is anything to go by.

:D

Just when you thought Star Citizen couldn't get any more broken....

I mean.... how? How is that even possible?

And we had Chris Roberts yesterday mumbling along about what he hopes will happen with SC and SQ42 by year's end and the "alpha" is still in such a parlous state....

*Edit*

And it gets even *better*...

Sooo... even completed games has infinite money bugs (like The Witcher 3) but it's unforgivable for um alpha game to have one as well?
I mean, isn't alpha phase used to sort this type of thing?[rolleyes]

Oh, yeah... evil CIG, 5 years and 116 millions and can't produce a alpha without bugs. I mean, a tech demo. [hehe]

I don't have any problem with SC being packed to the rafters with various infinite money cheats, anything that helps drive down the unrealistic ship prices and reduces pay2win is a good thing.

Lol I guarantee thats one bug that will never happen. The one thing that always works at CIG is the cash shop.
