Oha.
I think you guys will be fairly dissappointed if i read this passage right. Given your skepsis on SC its impressive how general an statements leads you to believe for an extensive feature in ED. But well different story.
We.ll see as they say ^^

Yeah. There was a guy on the SC forums who kept waffling on about how ED would never have planetary landings. He shut up when Horizons was released. :D

With all of this talk of MMO and love for all. Has anyone heard anything about items 2.0, new netcode that would allow more than 16 people in a server(gotta be stable!), or new backend software for more "Persistence"? And is there an update on when 2.6 goes to the super-food group?

I'd ask Sunleader to list the ways in which he considers Star Citizen to be innovative, rather than getting tied in knots over the things it "was influenced by", but it would probably use all the words.
Although, if you stopped listing things that SC "will do" as if they bear comparison with games which already exist, it would help. Did people learn nothing from No Man's Sky?

Well here's one for you $60 in SC once released and the user can do everything,ED on the other hand $60 and you can fly a ship and shoot some things move some cargo you never actually see unless your tractoring in a destroyed attacker/victims cargo, want to land on a planet of course buy this "season" for a extra $XX,want to walk around your ship that'll be in the next season for $XX,or of course you can wait till all the DLC is released in a supercombomega pack for $XXX but by then they'll be winding down the servers of will have moved on to PlanetCoaster 3 or whichever other project they are on.Sure ED well the base game is a ok way to kill a hour but tbh when I bought and refunded NMS I got shades of ED's stations all over again:

You can boil the spacestations down to maybe 6 "shapes" the only thing that changes is the colour same with the suns and the star systems and on and on,point being like NMS after a few hours to a week or so of play it gets to the point where you notice the reused assets like Dragon Age 2 and it's "1 Cave".I might pick up the DLC for ED once it's all done since the "seasons" have been hot and miss I'm not handing over the price of a game for what might be "meh" DLC only for them to pull a EA and sell the game with all the DLC for $60 in a year or 2,and honestly the base ED without any of the "seasons" doesn't feel like $60's worth of game and that's comparing it to any $60 game.Tbh with Frontier now juggling to plates (the second being that rollercoaster game), I'm starting to wonder if ED will ever be truly "finished".

Well, that is how a released game keeps making money...you know, taking money and releasing content in return.

More station types arriving in 2.2, available for base game, too.

But if it doesn't seem worth it to you...no one is grabbing for your wallet :)

Your sentences are very long and hard to read.

As for the prediction that SC will do anything: for $60 in SC once released the user will be able to do... enough to qualify for a minimum viable product, according to Chris. Soooooooo I mean, you're being a little hyperbolic here

I dont know if planetary landing was announced.
But.
I.ll wait till we actually land on something thats not an Empty rock before praising ED for this.
Right now Planetary landing is more of an annoyance to be honest.
Additional stations and on top ED attempts to force people into doing it. By having much stuff only available on Surface mining etc.

Most of all however its not well integrated.
I would love some actual ship combat in gravity for example raid a pirate bas or something in a ravvine on the moon.
And its arbitary preventing you from using your ship by making stuff not selectable as target unless your SRV etc.
All of this is very very restricting and forced.
Its not really fun and much less immersive.

$60 is lunch out for two people for one day :)

If you cannot afford $60 that will provide months of entertainment - well maybe it's time to find a job :)

Nice opinions. I happen to disagree with most of them.

Matter of opinion, really. I very much like how planetary landing is done and it is a regular occurrence for my heavy as heck Cutter delivering 720 tons of cargo to a 2G world...talk about a challenge without the docking computer. No one is forcing people to play Horizons, if you want Engineers, which is a Horizons expansion feature, well, you need to buy Horizons.

Ummm...there is combat in gravity...get pulled out of super cruise near a planet for some light gravity effect...engage on the surface and just see how quickly you meet the ground when trying to outmaneuver an opponent. There are also many bases to raid...some of which will send fighters out against you. Finally, you can target stuff like skimmers and the like. Targetting of SRVs was not allowed to prevent OP attacks...though it is still possible to completely wreck an SRV with fixed weapons.

Some gravity effects can be seen on this race...

Not sure if this got posted? Dataminer finds city in Star Citizen code.

I don't get this argument at all. If it's ok for CIG to charge hundreds of dollars for a single game asset then why is not ok for Frontier to charge $40 for a whole expansion?
You can argue that you don't have to buy ships but you're still relying on someone else to buy them so the game can be made.

That's odd. I've been in several ship to ship engagements when landed on a planet in ED. just earlier I had to high tail it out on a base in my srv (after caressing it's powerplant with my turret) and barely made it back to my ship. Then I had to take off, while under fire and do to mass lock, stick around and finish a desperate fight, near mountains and craters against a larger ship which, thanks to gravity, could not match my nimbler one... But I digress. Empty rocks. Nothing like the awesome, bird laden dystopic cityscapes of sc... right.

I won't be bothered with loading the demonstration...but it does look fairly promising.

Is this all hand-crafted or is there some PG to get the baseline density?

It's a very basic outline of a city. Graphically it looks like something from 1998, there's no way such a thing would work in a game any time soon with the visual quality that CIG want.

I am not contesting this being an opinion.
Albeit with Combat i am not talking about chance stuff like being interdicted near a planet.
But about actual surface combat with a ship by for example attacking ground installations or fighting right on planets surface.

And well i got Horizons. Mainly for Multi Crew.
Thing is. I dont want to drive around in some buggy.
But i am forced to cause alot of stuff can only be mined on surface.

This annoys me to no end.
Which of course is a personal opinion. But it is fact that it annoys me nontheless ;)

Fair enough...not required to like it :)

Can't most surface mined stuff be mined from asteroids? I thought so, though I may be missing something.

I still don't get your combat point though. I have literally decimated a ground installation from above while avoiding missile fire from a Goliath skimmer and then engaging the bases fighter escorts...all while fighting against gravity and getting pelted by AA guns.

There is surface combat and low orbit combat.
