A Word From Anvil …
Since the company’s inception, the UEE has not waged a military campaign without Anvil Aerospace ships at the forefront. Ships like the Hornet and Gladiator have redefined the battlefield with the Hornet destroying more enemy hardware than all other active Navy space fighters combined. With such a strong track record and reputation, it’s no surprise Anvil has found success in the civilian markets too.

Besides building iconic fighters, Anvil’s ship line-up has expanded to include long-range exploration and scanning ships, like the Carrack and Terrapin respectively, and even a dedicated repair ship, the Crucible. Despite the focus on different disciplines, each spacecraft has been expertly designed and built to last.

If the UEE trusts Anvil Aerospace to protect the Empire, then you can trust it to protect yours.

Where are they now?

Anvil ships fight harder! The entire Hornet lineup and the Gladiator are flyable in Star Citizen Alpha 2.5, and the special edition variant will be added in 2.6. The military version of the Hornet, the F7A, was recently completed for use in Squadron 42. The Carrack, Crucible and Terrapin are in the concept phase and will move on to implementation shortly (likely in that order.) An additional Anvil design is in the works right now, a sturdy, older fighting ship.

Yeah... But they've only had to fight pretty crappy AI until now :D

Wait 'till they have to fight proper Vanduuls! I think CIG should borrow SJA from Fronteir for a week or so to give the Vanduuls a hand, THEN we'll see who have the better ships!

Bam! You hit it dead on, he didn't build the engine that ran WC or SC or any of his games, it was a "refactored" engine that was already in existence - he just re-purposed it like he did with CryEngine.

All he did was pitch ideas, and kept saying "You can do it!" (I can't believe that actually happened in real life) to the programmers far more capable than him.

I was a teenager writing game reviews when WC / WC 2 came out. I have never, ever thought CR is a programmer or designer. He was an "ideas man" who had the excellent Origin team making excellent games partly nspired by his "vision".

Is he claiming to be some coder guru now? That's pretty funny.

Chris IS an "Ideas man". The only trouble he has is he's only had one idea.

Wing Commander didn't quite do it, WC the movie didn't quite do it either...

And now Star Citizen! - This is going to @£$$@###@}{(^^^&!.................

(damn my interweb connection..:( )

Heh, in the subreddit's celebratory "Look how much money CIG is making off us" thread

Star Citizen fans are like teenage girls, whisper sweet nothings in their ear and they'll open up for you....

Also feels like Second Life in space. No gameplay, nothing with substance.

What are you talking about? You can stand in a cargo hold with a bunch of identical commandos, sit in a cargo hold with a bunch of identical commandos, jump or perhaps fall out of a cargo hold in an unbelievably janky manner with them, and even salute with them while they're wearing different coloured hats! The possibilities are almost endless.

Star Citizen: Make your own fun, because all the money was spent on mocap.

Interesting talks/new infos about future 2.6 FM changes on reddit https://www.reddit.com/r/starcitizen/comments/5e2iql/according_to_twerk17_26_will_no_longer_have/?st=IVS3FNBR&sh=fbedc3cc
from now on Boost button will do whole speeding up to top speed and if you let it go, then you start to slow down....very convenient way to slow down speed in space because space is actually BIG OCEAN if you didn´t know......[wacko]
But hey...who knows maybe "Flying" feels better.....and I bet that CR will explain to us that in the future they invented super ABTS automatic-breaking-thruster-system that calculate perfectly precise G-force and do the breaking automatically soon as pilot stops with acceleration....so everything is just fine......rule of cool + physics.....Yupiiiii!!!!!!!

Just waiting to download and try myself - personally, I'm not overly bothered about physics, if the gameplay is good, then I don't care. ("Gameplay is good" - why am I trying to convince myself? :D)

Imperium Org having a bit of fun!

May I ask how much you have invested in this . . . game? 'cause it looks more and more like a pipe dream to me. Selling ships for hundreds of bucks, with no real, finished product to show (or even likely to finish within the next two years) -- I don't know, I'm just glad I didn't give them any money.

Once the deliver a finished, working product, that may well change. But not before, and certainly not if they keep selling "ships" for hundreds of bucks (some go for as much as over TWO THOUSAND bucks . . . the price of quite a good gaming computer!). Maybe I'm just too daft to see the benefit, but paying that much money for something I could just as well toil my way towards in the finished game (provided there IS a finished game, of course) is something I'd not do. 'course, I've got a family to feed, I cannot blow one and a half grand on a JPEG. ;)

It would be interesting to know what the consequences are if that entire thing falls flat on its face. My best guess is that the backers would all be shafted. I really hope that doesn't come to pass, but one thing is certain: you guys are in for a long, long wait, and if I was you, I'd stop advertising. The ship prices are very much real money, and some people could get really, really upset.
