The GIF is fake. SM is NOT released in 2.6. Like at all. And anyone who can even get the hack (posted previously) to work, won't be able to connect to a live instance.

If that is not your source... Where is your source for your claim, then? You can't claim something with no source to back it up. It doesn't work that way.

I've posted a claim and a proof from a source (which i link to) to back up my claim. That's how it works.
Now if you want to refute my claim (because i could be wrong, who knows) then you must post some proof that refutes it.

With all my respect to you... but "ME" is not a valid proof. A post in which you claim something with no proof is NOT a valid proof either.
Screenshots or vids, like what i posted here, those are actual proofs.

Look, i'm not saying the gif i posted must unequivocally be true. But i've tried to find proofs of it being fake, and i have been unable. The gif shows an online match, with other players actually playing the match, and with no livestream watermarks. So the source of that build is NOT the livestream footage, and as it has other players, it can't be from a hacked non-evocati build. So the only remaining option is that it's actually from an Evocati build.

Maybe because you don't really need to know who you are constantly? Just the opposite of the presentation when you can't know without that from who is the POV because you are watching (the stream), not playing the game.

P.D.- Why would you want your name constantly on the lower lefthand corner?

Except they aren't. They're gifs. Show me real gameplay. Video of someone starting the "game" and then launching Star Marine. Until then, it's nothing more than a dreamy fan tribute gif with no provable basis in reality.

I'm inclined to believe the gif is real, there are more players on the radar than there were on a livestream, the radar is buggy and doesn't update while the player moves (as far as I can see, it's terribly jumpy), and HUD elements in the upper center aren't displayed right as well. Not that it's any reason to celebrate, only innovations I could notice in the SM footage were: updated HUD, less headbob and by the looks of it nothing else. I'm surprised they didn't manage to release it way earlier.

I didn't switch gears. I just made sure what i posted to back up my claim wasn't an obvious fake thing. Because, you know, if i claim something, i must back up my claim with some proof other than words. That's how it works.

The main problem is that your back-up doesn't really prove anything, and that Derek's stance is pretty much just a null hypothesis, and therefore doesn't require any proof. It's kind of clever that way.

You're not seriously suggesting that a dev who works on a critical component (rendering) of this project, doesn't have a clue if Star Marine - a much hyped module that was a target for this release - is in a build or not. Are you?

I dunno; but I could point you to a millions of Photoshopped images and gifs on the internet. It's not that hard you know.

I know that you guys are desperate to create as much noise as possible, in the hopes that CIG somehow officially releases SM in the coming days; but seriously, that's not going to work because a LOT of people KNOW that it's NOT in the game. Period. End of story.

Again, instead of worrying what I think (right or wrong), why is it that you guys - who funded the game - aren't demanding answers from CIG/RSI on Reddit or on the RSI forums? Instead, you all are fighting - yet another losing battle - even as you fret over what some old dude thinks?

It's even more hilarious when you consider that CIG/RSI could very well release the patch notes to the backers, which would highlight the build that was pushed to Evocati. But no, that would remove any and all doubt and obfuscation of the truth that's currently running rampant.

So much open development, that backers have no clue what's been released to a select group of testers. Nice.

If the gif is real, and was taken from 2.6, then great - they've managed to make a janky fps that makes Doom 3 look like a masterpiece.

If it's not, and is proved to be a forgery of some kind, then hilarity will ensue.
