"I'm being told there is no squadron 42 separate"

Me - Unless I'm mistaken SQ42 has already been sold (and marketed) separately to SC - no?

"nobody should take my word that I'm speaking as the final word.." LJF (paraphrased somewhat...)

ETA - he really isn't coming across as a biased fan from what I've heard so far...

No need for him to be fan, just be feeded info from fans and backers. Fact that he doesn't have all info might indicate that.

Leonard French saying "exclusivity" is a muddied word and they will have to look at previous Crytek contracts to see how it is used and how it is used elsewhere in the game industry.

Which hilariously ties in with Skaddin pointing out the letter from Fryeurmuth (Fryer Mouth? Flour moth? Glad I’m not that guy in grade school) saying he was impartial before it was disclosed that he owned part of the company, and the effect both lawyers from the negotiations (now) working for CIG would have on their testimony when discussing what these terms were supposed to mean.

The fact that he misrepresented himself in the letter CT has could have implications on his ability to meet Bar requirements of good conduct.

I just had to turn it off - 2 more weeks of this! (ETA - it's actually three....)

Potentially before months more of this!

And this is good for star citizen because....

Jobbo_Fett on the SA forum the other day, put it like this.....

The GLA uses the term "Exclusive", then we must accept one of two possibilities.

1. Star Citizen has exclusive rights to CryEngine, therefore nothing else in the world can use CryEngine.

2. Star Citizen must exclusively use CryEngine as its base, therefore switching to any other engine would break the GLA.

Since 1 cannot be true, seeing as how many other games use CryEngine...

Must have missed that one - seems like a reasoable point.

Do we have sight of a hivemind/reddit rebuttal?

Yeah...if he didn't disclose that to CryTek, then that waiver CIG mentioned just lost a lot of its value.

Add in that CIG hired Carl Jones, a number of exCryTek devs and used them to "create" Star Engine and they can certainly try for a pattern

"I think Derek Smart wrote this response for them, did it for free too, I'll bet. It reeks of Smartness."

Nice return by CT. I feel they admit some of their weaker arguments are disputable, but make some points in return. My casual layman impression: Case is not going to be dismissed.

You mean ... no, it can't be!

Skadden outsourced their response to the warlord - no wonder he called it in advance!

I - for one - refuse to believe it!

Gotta love those crazy Reddit dudes. [haha]

Youtube lawyer thinks it's going to trial. With discovery.

I shall have my day in court! [haha]

"The only thing the judge will laugh at Derek, is the show complaint in the first place that's already been shredded. That YOU personally talked crytek into doing."

The mind does boggle.

If there's the one thing I bet CR and co really want to avoid at all costs (apart from prison time), it's having to reveal the inner workings of their financial machine.

Was that Leonard's stream? It was a poo show in the chat - amazing.

Still fans piling in saying he was completely exonerating CIG when he'd done the opposite and said it looked like it was going to court and trouble. Just amazing amazing amazing

That's unfortunate.

They all rallied around the slam dunk MtD as predicted by the You tube lawyer who is now apparently saying it's going to trial (I switched off).

To whom do the fans turn to now?

It's incredible - but it does really slam home how some people can get so easily played.

Not sure if Leonard mentioned it, but I found it noticable that Skadden explicitly pointed out that RSI cannot use Lumberyard or any other engine until 2020 at the soonest.

Yes it was! I just caught the end of the stream and that comment stood out somewhat, I suppose it might not have been serious but it's consistent with the other stuff you see on reddit etc. Maybe the drama is getting too much for some of the citizens? :D

I'll let the dust settle a bit and hope someone does a concise summary of the day's events.

Leonard seemed a bit in the middle: no dismissal, but no big deal either. This time I did get the impression he seemed somewhat, implicitly, biased. But could just be me. The chat was a bit freakish, I always get this 'mob scene' vibe from that segment of the SC community. Dangerously vicious people...
