Neither is ED, it is not a complete game and it is in Alpha-Beta stage. A lot of forum members post that there is no way ED is Beta as it is not feature complete and it should be called as pre-Alpha.

My comparison relates to ED Alpha 1.0 and Alpha 1.1 releases which were very stable and did not have any major issues. SC AC is not that different from that ED builds. You will have Single Player and pre-defined scenarios, no traveling, no trading.

You are looking at two different things and comparing them which is completely wrong. Elite's polish level was always like a BETA stage.

Imho wrong way to do things why compare when you can appreciate both for what they are are. What would you gain from comparing? Creating the argument that one is better than the other?

There is no point.

I am not creating an argument saying that one is better than the other. I am waiting for both of the games

I was not expecting to see a polished product in SC AC, however, I was expecting at least to be able to get out of the hangar, to fly the ship, to understand how the flight model works just like it was when ED Alpha 1.0 was released.

It seems to work for some. Watch this http://www.twitch.tv/bteamgaming its live.

That's painful... that guy should get a hotas. ;)

...but I deffinatly get a Wing Commander wibe from that.

...and no, it does look nothing like ED.

The map is called broken moon, so I guess the was the core of it... ;)

...but yea, the backgrounds are obviously simple, flat, 2D pictures right now.

That map is not called Broken Moon it's called Dying Star of Pyro

For information on the Pyro solar system : https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/transmission/13852-Galactic-Guide-Pyro

Any prospect of developed life in the Pyro system vanished several million years ago, when the system’s star began to go nova. Astrobiologists who have examined the remains of its theoretical green-band planets have found little evidence that higher life forms would have been likely in the first place; nothing but algae-like fossils have ever been discovered. The system consists of six ruined worlds circling a bright, but ultimately dying, star. Were it not for the fact that jump points from two inhabitable systems have been discovered linking to Pyro, the system would likely never have been settled at all.

That is not 2D it is 3D. But Star Citizen's engine has not yet publicly updated to 64bit. They internally have switched. So the maps are 20x20x20km.

They will update the engine for the public later on from that point there will be no map limits. (For Arena Commander there will always be some sort of map limit though)

So the maps are 20x20x20km.

as in less than 3km x 3km x 3km and moving at hundreds of kms/hr

Is that meant to be impressive? Like i Said, feels like an FPS map not space.

That big orange arrow pointing out the direction of the target is so...lame

And that guy is no top gun yet has been flying killing enemy for 10 minutes with the whole left side of his ship missing. Fully destructible ships are kind of pointless when the effects of damage are that negligible. I hope they sort that out.

Well putting aside bugs and instability issues, that's problems an alpha release always has, let's view the game instead.
The graphics sure look crisp, as expected really from SC. The 'radar' or glass ball looks quite distracting though, and the rest of the hud seems somewhat redundant, and just there to look fancy.
Gameplay wise it seems the flight design results in the 'turrets in space' situation. Ships seems very maneuverable meaning most weapons appear to be gimballed to make sure you can actually hit something.
It's quite nauseating to watch someone play on twitch.

But hey, i'm only giving my opinion from watching other people play, perhaps over the weeks people will learn how to fly :)
I'm not buying it until i see what it's worth and arena deathmatch is of no intrest to me, will be waiting for SQ42 and the PU.
Can't help but feel that it's somewhat underwhelming so far though, let's see where they go from here, things will still change a lot over the months.

Things I like and dislike so far:
Like:
- it's possible to loose parts of a ship
- there are external views
- glowing ball radar design works quite nice although it looks like a crystal ball
Dislike:
- self aiming guns,
- pew pew no skill combat

I'd add 3PVC not looking viable as a big plus - for now at least, I expect the big time clamor for it to begin soon.

But agreed on the dislikes. Even Mr Magoo could rack up the kills by the looks of it.
