I am literally just starting on this part of the game (late to the party i know). is there a decent tutorial video someone can link to for getting an idea what to do. i assume i will be better off going to the already defeated titan which went down a few weeks back rather than venturing near an active one? i have plenty of credits to buy the stuff needed but am lacking in the materials to engineer so i wont have a very strong ship. i am hoping by the time the next attack happens i will have a suitibly engineered bomber to be able to do that properly but i am not there yet!.
Titan debris fields differ rather significantly to an active Titan, not so much an activity where you shoot stuff but more sneak around avoiding a few rare-ish Thargoid patrols (you won't be getting swarmed by dozens, at most there's two Scout packs of four or five each, a roaming Interceptor that is seemingly really difficult to aggro unless you shoot at it, plus two Scythes or - apparently, very rarely, because I've never seen any at Titan debris fields - Glaives. Detection range is significantly reduced around a dead Titan too, from my experience (Scythes also should only bother you if you pick up the pods or shoot them).
But you can find some useful materials locally. Caustic shards and crystals for one, but also the corrosive mechanisms you'd need for caustic sink synths... won't find any hardened surface fragments there though, iirc. Those will be found at active Titans only.
Be mindful that the first two weeks(or three?) will have the wreckage surrounded by a caustic remnant still, with only Thargoid NPCs around. Visibility in the environment will not be too great, either. Don't have any video guides directly at hand but the experiences gathered by visiting a Titan debris field will not have that much application for active Titan bombing, though the principle of bringing a cold ship and remaining cold will apply for both.
Once caustic remnant around a Titan debris field clears up you will be looking at human(salvagers, pirates, AX) as well as Thargoid NPC presence. So I would visit Indra's remnant (it
probably is dead) this Thursday or the week after (where the caustic remnant will still be around but spread less far and even weaker). Yet you might get some better idea of what to do at an active Titan by doing some pod rescues or just trying the bombing stuff out before it becomes vulnerable... once your ship is ready, of course.
