Any chance of a link to that poll?
It would make me very happy after the "forum PvE bias makes this worthless, would be totally different if REAL playerz voted" line that's been hammered
If that's the case then FDev really should pay attention - that's becoming a vast majority of your users in an increasingly representative vote.
Please, please don't focus on more PvP toys - we want more galaxy not more guns.
Found it. That is rather impressive - open poll too, so fairly likely the PvPers tried to swing it to counter this oneLudite link as on phone...
This thread on 12/5 @ 0846 there is a link in Garbarrage's post to the reddit version of this poll
Eta 79% pve. I was very surprised
Free for all PVP will never work and the balancing issues with PVP is just a pain in the rear for all.
Interesting poll. Seems the PvP crowd have become apathetic...or have vacated the premises....and the game continues to play on!
I did vote for the PVP side of things though. But I like the collection of PVE trophies to beat others, though!
It's just that Frontier Development tried to grab every group like those who like to play in solitude and those who like to interact with other people but they FAILED big time because the system of the three mods is just flawed, they will continue losing players cause they clearly favor one group(Solo PVE hermits).
I think its time for FD to either make changes or just stop lying to people advertising the game as an MMO because sooner or later players will find the bitter truth about this game, that it is designed completely for PVE-solo/private players.
Well the other option is for people to readjust their ideas on what an MMO is.
Thousands of players fighting against each other seems like a pretty decent definition of an MMO. People just have to understand that the PVP is defined as the PVE movement of trophies and it all makes sense! Direct PVP is fun...but nothing that is really that great in this game...as most PVP players realize now. So, no, the devs do not have to change the way they are making their game....people just have to accept that game for what it is...or move on.
Similar experience. Wiped one of my CMDRs and decided to play the beta as a noob in Open. Spent about 90 minutes pootling around fringe systems, hardly saw another soul. Jumped to Shinrarta for my first upgrade, immediately blown up by a CMDR in a Clipper (it might even have been a Cutter, I literally had no time to even look at the HUD detail, just the basic Imperial shape. But I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and say that it was "only" a Clipper).
Heavy Imperial gun platform vs. stock Sidewinder. Good test, good test.
This was before Phase 2.
This is why I stick to Solo or Group. I know not everyone is an idiot, but one idiot is one idiot too many for me even in the "popular" systems; YMMV. Core systems should not be off limits due to lack of consequences. If this behaviour ever gets pushed into the lawless systems where it belongs, I might reconsider. But I think we all know there's next to zero chance of that.
Got to say, I'm amazed at how long this thread has lasted. I gave it an hour and it's been four days. Same old arguments, inevitably, but no lock. Colour me impressed.

Hard to understand why you get upset over what happens in a beta test. We are meant to be testing the weapons you know.
I didn't bother voting and I think a lot of people have given up on these forums. Player run polls are usually loaded. You make a good point though, these forums have been used as a platform to promote a hate campaign towards anyone who PvPs and its never been addressed by the moderators. I can only conclude its unofficial Frontier policy. Its been open season from day one against PvPers; with name calling and mudslinging rife, nothing the other way is tolerated. So I wouldn't take these poll results seriously. Its largely an echo chamber for PvE.
Regardless, this is not a pleasant place to discuss the game for anyone who enjoys a bit of PvP and the quasi official brow beating and abuse that goes on.
See what I mean?
I must say that the moderators engage in discussions most of the time agreeing with the PVE players or just by pointing that the points made by some players which happens to be PVPers are wrong, FD and ED is the only game i have played where Moderators do more than just moderating the forum...

They got the game off the ground with a Kickstarter campaign, the biggest of its kind at the time, based in no small part on those three modes which were clearly understood and embraced. (In my experience, people backing Kickstarter campaigns tend to read the small print more than those who click a Buy Now button on Steam based on 30 seconds of shiny-shiny from the marketing department. YMMV).It's just that Frontier Development tried to grab every group like those who like to play in solitude and those who like to interact with other people but they FAILED big time because the system of the three mods is just flawed.
Right. Like when they introduced that Wings release, such a perfect fit for Solo PVE hermits.they will continue losing players cause they clearly favor one group(Solo PVE hermits).

I'd say they won big time.

Mods have to walk a narrow line between enforcing the forum rules for BOTH sides of any argument fairly, and being a human being with their own opinions. I could (but won't) name mods who have strong personal views on this subject on BOTH sides of the fence, but the only times I've seen them actually engage in the argument was AFTER they'd stated that they were doing so as a player and not a mod - which then means they won't do any moderating in that thread but will leave it to a compatriot. Remember, FDev doesn't pay them, they're not employed to mediate in our spats, they do it for the love of the game and as such as still allowed to have personal opinions on it. I've actually been a mod on a similar sized website (bikes, not computer games) and trust me I wouldn't do it again - it's a pain in the proverbial rear.
Perhaps its time for Frontier to staff the moderation of their forums instead of relying upon volunteers. They have 8 mil in cash after all.. In my view its not possible to moderate and engage in a debate at the same time and remain impartial even if those doing so have the best intentions.
