A Polish modders team are making a post-Witcher 3 mini game in Witcher 2 creation engine (as there isn't one for W3) whch includes Geralt and Yen's wedding :)

Here's the Polish thread on the forums, you can use translator :)

I just realised I've never gave you the link! Just translate the page in your browser, it's well worth checking out!

I absolutely need to try this franchise eventually.

If you like RPGs, this is the best favor you could do to yourself. You can even skip 1 and 2 if you like. The way they stiched the story toghether for newcomers in 3 is more than adequate.

To me, it's probably the best game I've ever played, and I played loads of them, so this is not something I'd say lightly.

Its honestly the best game ive ever played and ive bee playing for over 20 years.

Sure the controllS can be a bit fiddly at times...but im at ta stahe now where im such a pro..a REAL monster slayer that i am absolutley killing things left right and center on death march in new game plus and it feels GREAT.

Found the love again. JOY!!!

been putting some hours down into the last dlc again and it's gripped me again.

Gog says I have played 302 hours of this. The only other games that beats that for me is the 9 years of Eve Online I played and many years of CS source. No single player game even comes close.

Just amazing. What sort of FPS are you getting with those settings :) any mods applied at all?

In fact can anyone recommend any mods for this?

Hundreds of branching quests and dialogues, huge world torn by war, faction decisions, kings that might fall or rise, cities in turmoil, cursed families, wraiths from another dimension coming to doom the world in a hellish drakkar, babies facing being eaten by lesbian witches, prejudice, racism, injustice, but The One Question that really, truly matters is:

Yen...? Or Triss...? :D

Hah. It's funny because it's true.

I was actually surprised though. I mean you could be forgiven for thinking the game is all a bit misogynistic; but ultimately everything you do has consequences.

The below is spoilered, for those who haven't played to the end!!
For all that, you are 'punished' if you play around too much. I tried to play both sides, and ended up alone; a middle-aged-ish guy in a dusty, crumbling old castle. Waay too close to my own life, 'cept the castle. And the standout relationship in the game is a father-daughter relationship, where you're judged on how supportive you are. I veered toward the ending where Ciri leaves to rule the Empire, thus adding to the "poor ol' me" feeling at the end.

I actually was really depressed at the whole ending. Not that it was in any way bad, but after weeks of playing a character as I liked, suddenly I find out all my actions have consequences and I end up alone. Lucky I had the Heart of Stone to play through, or things would have been grim! I don't think any game-ending affected me as much as this one.

Cheers.

I'm shooting in non-playable (at least on my current rig) resolutions; the wide pics are shot in 2560*1080 (basically cinema aspect ratio), and the tall shots are shot in 1920*2160 (random ultra high resolution that works great with my screen).
These resolutions, together with everything set on ultra, gives everything from 5 fps to 20 fps.
I'm using my own custom made ReShade.

Regarding the whole 'Yen' vs. 'Triss' thing, the stand out moment for me was...

The moment on the docks when Triss is leaving for Korvir because of the persecution of mages going on, and Geralt is watching here leave looking mournful. Djikstra then pipes up with 'you <idiot>. you let her go.' (Or words to that effect ;) ). I actually verbally agreed with him at the time. :) I know from the books and games that Yen is the big, overarching femme-fatale that Geralt is destined to end up with, but gawd Triss comes across in the games as the better person.

hidy ho all. They have the witcher series on sale, over on GOG. And I wanted to know how it compared to 1 & 2. I tried to play 1, but I didn't like it. And I was playing 2, but if felt like there was a wall of glass between me and the game. I could see a fun game, and something I wanted to get into. But every time I tried to get into it, something would happen to jar me out of the game. Either some mechanic, or some action, or even the main characters actions. And this would happen constantly.

So, I wanted to know how this game compared to 1 & 2. Is it better? About the same? Does it play better? ect.

I'm asking because I'm interested in the series. But I simply don't have a good track record with the series up to now.

W3 is an excellent game. Best in the genre without a doubt. Buy it and the dlc also.

I agree. Even though there were some tremendous titles in this genre in the last few years, such as Skyrim and Dragon Age Inquisition, The Witcher 3 managed to set a whole new bar for the next years. Tremendous storytelling, incredible writing, magnificent world and tremendously believable and rich characters.

One of the few games I was sad to complete, as I knew I was "living" the final moments of the Grand Journey of Geralt of Rivia.

Goodby Geralt, you'll sure be missed.

W1 feels "old" by now, its hard to get into if you never played it.

W2 has amazing storytelling and atmosphere, one of the best in that regard, but some mechanics also start to feel somewhat out of time.

W3 is a masterpiece.

Yeah the whole series matured into itself from 1 to 2 through to 3. The devs weren't afraid to change things that didn't quite work from each game. BUT they kept to solid story telling and atmosphere throughout.

To my mind they haven't just topped out the bar in the rpg genre but the OPEN WORLD genre also. When I first heard they were going open world in nature I was really worried about seeing cookie cutter environments and missions and npcs but none of it happened. It's all fresh to play and hides the open world problems really well.

I finally found the light!

I tried multiple times to get into this game and never made is past about 90 minutes. I decided to give it one last shot, and I finally made it over the hump, now I'm in love!

I played through Witcher 2 many moons ago and enjoyed it, but for some reason I just couldn't get into 3. Even now I'm not sure what was stopping me from clicking with it, but I can't stop playing now. I just made level 12 and went looking for Triss only to discover she's disappeared!

I think what finally got me over the hump was riding Roach aimlessly through Velen taking on contracts and banishing monsters marauding the country side. That and maybe turning off the subtitles. I don't catch every word, but it's much more engaging now. The combat is very slick and enjoyable once you get used to what works best, and everything is absolutely gorgeous.

Glad I gave it once last chance!
