Before I retired I managed 26 servers for a university here in the US. It was always difficult to schedule down time for upgrades, system fixes, hardware installs, because the world is awake 24 hours a day. My servers provided a lot of important info to a lot of people all around the world. We had students, and faculty worldwide, not just on campus. Not once did I get complaints that someone was unable to access their data.
This is the proper time for these problems to happen, not after it's live in final release. Have patience, they'll work it out. Then we can all fly to our hearts content.

I'm just going to how and prey that full release does not cause a server melt down as were just a few weeks away and just logging in lately is sometime hit n miss and I won't when mention winging up !!
I agree that I am often left with that same impression when it comes to the XB1 version vs the others. Seems we are the last to know and the first to feel the effects of whatever they are up to. If this was indeed a scheduled outage, then what is so hard about posting an announcement on the forums?
I was finally able to load my game save a few minutes ago after watching my Python spin around for no less than 15 minutes! My ship was sitting there in space where I had been flying just before I got disconnected about 3 hours ago now. Was just engaging my throttle to head out when BOOM, disconnected AGAIN!
I give up!
They are obviously down for the count until someone from FD gets into the office at 8AM BST and notices that the servers are down.
Thats a little over 9 hours from now according to my watch.
So, I guess I'm playing battlefield tonight then.

Why would you buy destiny when you could play warframe for free?
Thank you for talking sense while everyone else is making unsubstantiated complaints about a game THAT'S STILL IN BETA. I just wish more people used a bit of rationale before whining.
That's what I did
it might take 2 minuets to make a H jump or load system data but the game is working at least for me

So I was hoping that I had until October 6th and the full release to get home. I just left Sag A* last night.
Do I need to haul ass or will I be OK, and has Frontier officially commented on this or are we all just speculating?
So far it seems like we've maintained bounties and exploration data throughout all of the other updates. I'm hoping this is the same but hurrying home either way.
Thoughts?

So I was hoping that I had until October 6th and the full release to get home. I just left Sag A* last night.

I'm currently sitting on the title screen with the FULL GAME in RED saying "Unable to Connect to the Frontier Game Servers", so things are hardly back to normal at this point.

You must not play this game as much as some of us do. By my count, this is the 22nd unannounced server outage since the GPP version was released in June. Considering we are supposed to be TESTING the gameplay mechanics of the game, I would think keeping the game up and running would be a high priority.

Scratches head in wonder. You do understand what a beta is. When you purchased the game, it did warn you that it is in an unfinished form. So you have absolutely no grounds to complain.
I am going on the safe side and making sure all of my credits are in credit form. Last I heard ships and modules will be liquidated (FD AMA a week or two ago). Being as exploration data is tied to the ship, I would assume it will be wiped with the ship. Same with bounties, merits, trade goods.
Rumor mill says you will get your "total assets" in credits after the wipe. I don't know. Again, I am going safe and will be parting out and selling all of my assets before launch. I will just tool around in an Eagle for a day or two. Worse case scenario, everyone gets their total assets and I wasted a little time. Best case scenario, I don't take a 10% loss on sale of ships and outfitting.

Before the server issues tonight i was in a system i had discovered twice already and yet it was showing undiscovered again. I hope it was just a bug but if not, i think all you deep space explorers might be disappointed when you get back...
