There's something wrong with the cockpit...

Am I the only one that can see their cheeks and nose? I must have high cheek bones.

What do you see in your periphery when you sit and look at the screen?

And this option would be toggled on and off, of course. But it's the little things that increase immersion.

Rep to you sir, for making at least 10 commanders cross their eyes and gurn whilst trying to figure out which parts of their faces they can see from 'inside'.
I'm hoping that was the sole purpose of this thread :D

Seriously?! You guys can't see your nose?! What is that like? I see my nose all the time, but I also see the image the other eye sees where the nose is blocking. For me, it's completely normal.
And I'm completely blown away that you can't see your cheeks.

And the dress is white and gold. I don't care what any of you say.

To increase the immersion I scream out loud when I get shot by another ship. If I die I scream louder and I don't stop for hours. I just scream and scream.

It's completely normal because your eyes are the real eyes in the real head. The video game screen is being perceived by your real eyes, and therefore already has a real nose to add the ultimate immersion to your visuals.

To replicate this on the screen in 2d would be creating a second nose image of your fake nose for your fake eye placement. I'd find this way less immersive as I'd feel trapped inside some creepy humanmask, like when your FPS camera angles can sometimes accidentally show you the inside of your own character's head. I'd take a Remlok overlay with added emergency datafeeds before a second ghost nose I can't dial out of the shot with my own onboard systems.

3d utility however appears to be an entirely different kettle of monkeys, and probably does deserve a real look especially if it can mitigate the 3d spins. That would give it a huge boost for industry-wide usage if one of the driving games for VR sets can induce way less space sickness and open up potential to a less steel-stomached market segment.

Sit in your chair. Look at your screen. What do you see?

My screen; well, 3 of them actually. No, I haven't been drinking. THERE ARE THREE SCREENS.

Not on your screen, but what do you see in your periphery?

THREE SCREENS. NOT FOUR. THREE. Oh, periphery? Stuff.

You see your hands on the HOTAS, or keyboard and mouse, if you're into such a things.

I don't know where you put your hands, but I don't often see mine. I SEE THREE SCREENS. I shan't break, you know. THREE. SCREENS.

You see your chest.

No, I have to move my head to do that; and when I do that in game? I see my chest. Sometimes it's a surprise because I have 3 commander accounts and two of them are a different gender and I can tell you it's a surprise, every time.

You see your nose. You see your cheeks. You see a vague outline of your eye's FoV.

Actually I can only do that if I squint. Or concentrate; the human brain is wonderful in that it will happily filter out extraneous input unless one focuses on it.

You see your legs. You see your feet.

Nope, I see THREE SCREENS. And a desk. The desk is between my face and my feet. This might come as a shock. It does have THREE SCREENS on it though and I really will not break. Stop telling me I am seeing things I am not.

Weirdly, though, if I move my head around, I can. Weirdly, though, if I move my in-game head around, I can.

In the cockpit that we currently have, you see none of these things and it gives a disembodied effect.

Actually I can see all these things fine; it's called POV control, or head tracking, or VR.

Is there any way to re-position the PoV and add graphics to properly reflect what we would see if we were a body in our ships?

As much as I have often wondered what it would be like to look through my own head, I'll pass. And we are a body in our ships. Camera is right were our head is.

Also, breathing sound effects should be added when the ship pulls high g's, or if it's hit by a particularly powerful round, etc. Don't underestimate the immersion effect personal sounds have on game play. I would love to hear the cut off scream my cmdr makes as his canopy blows away.

"In space no one can hear you scream."

Also we already have laboured breathing with low oxygen levels, which is haunting enough; this game has a PEGI rating so if you want blood and guts and screaming, just endless screaming, this isn't the game. However, I can attest that the forums are highly immersive if you like just endless screaming.. which is occasionally cut o-

But seriously, you can't see your nose? I bet there are some people who can just like there are some people who can wiggle their ears independently, or hear sounds past infra/ultra sonic.
And yes, I can wiggle my ears independently.

Ahem, maybe not :p

It isn't necessary and it would be extremely annoying and distracting

Also how do you see your cheeks? Lmao

If that was the purpose then I'm completely guilty of trying it out XD

I can see my nose, and adding second one to my face sounds really distracting. Unless it was something great like a Hanover Fist face.

Like DOF and blur and effects, and lighting changes that simulate pupil dilation.

I wonder if devs know eyes already do that.
