Bye, then.

No, I don't speak for everyone. Just most males aged 12-50
(I wonder what the ratio of violent to non-violent games on the market is? Or how much market share violent games enjoy over non-violent. I'm sure the numbers are as to be expected.)
KSP is non violent.
Most flight sims too

Equally though, there's no need to 'interact' with the aliens at all, if people don't want to .. and peaceful observation could still be a thing, with or without help from Aegis. We just don't know yet.

This also.
However knowing FDev, sooner or later, pewpew will happen. And when it does, about 50% of the salt mine will say it's too easy and needs a buff, whilst the other 50% will say it's too hard and needs a nerf.
Then we'll get the usual buff/nerf balance passes (Thargoid Edition) and the accompanying mega thread.
Well, I think it's likely any weapons free contact with a single Thargoid ship will be 'challenging' (see Sandy's quote in the livestream) so coming into contact with a whole family of them will probably test the minerals of even the hardest playing .. and if it's all too much? There's always Colonia after any bubble invasion. As far as I know the Thargoids are still in the Pleiades - at this point anyway.
I dont see the 'change'. There will be a war. The war evolves depending on how well we perform. I imagine they borrow elements from PP to create a Thargoid bubble, for example. They may target regions for attack, we may counter attack, and the bubble grows, shrinks and moves.

Most racing games.
Sports games too!

Yet every single official trailer, mention etc makes reference to a Thargoid war, the 'official' announcment of the Return was on the back of a post-battle scenario between Thargoids and Feds, and the cinematic trailer in today's stream (as cool as it was) clearly shows an aggressive posture being adopted by both humans and thargoids.
Can Frontier please explain why the change?
Or was player reaction already factored in to 2.4, perhaps by how many people tried to shoot the ships during hyperdictions?
I can't help but feel as if the way 2.4 is unveloping is a big kick in the teeth to the likes of Canonn and all those who would rather research and develop with the Thargoids rather than shooting them. Elite has never lacked for pew pew content and this update seems to be more of the same and we still have no indication that 2.4 will not just boil down to 'alien conflict zones' and 'thargoid powerplay'.

Oh, the Thargoid factions are already at war, and our dear major factions are certain to get us embroiled as well. That is just the starting point though; Question is how the-sum-of-players act though that given situation -- doves are likely going to have quite a bit of work ahead of them, to offset the damages made by hawks.
Let's also be clear that calling the retreating Oresians "peaceful" is very much a relative term; They were the adversary in our previous contact with their species (never mind who did or did not fire the first shots); They appear to still take quite a bit of pleasure in splitting meatbags open like ripe oranges; And who knows how their conflict with with the Klaxians started in the first place.
For all we know, the only reason they are not aggressive toward us, and quite possibly tacitly supplying us with both intellectual and tangible resources, is that they don't want to put holes in their own meat shield. :7
Let's face it ... the military loves the fruits of science' naivety.
From the wheel to the splitting of the atom, comes war machines.
Sandy says alot of things. I've yet to see him actually DELIVER a lot of those things. I sincerely hope he does in this case, but you'll understand if I don't hold my breath while waiting.Sandy did say there will be opportunities for other kinds of interactions with Thargoids![]()
In fairness, that's changing over time. When all you're given in game by FDEV is a hammer, everything looks like a nail.
