Titan War - Leigong Rewards

Pilots, here is the question - why this rewards exist at all?
I'm telling you - not to reward you for taking down the Titans, but first of all to attract players who were not interested in all this thargoid stuff, to take a look at the final stage of the last year and half of development (because when else, if not now?), and maybe in the result some of them will join to regular AX activities too. And for this particular goal the rewards work perfectly.
Nothing more, nothing less.

Whilst we had introduced a number of improvements to resolve issues with bugged Titan instances we are aware that some of you did continue to encounter them. For that reason we have decided to change how rewards would be given out on this occasion. For Titan Leigong we will be gifting the cosmetic rewards to everyone who jumped into HIP 8887 within the week before meltdown began, regardless of damage done to the Titan or credits earned. We are working hard to ensure that issues with Titan instances will be resolved for future battles.
By doing this are you checking for those who are abusing the exploit of shooting the thermal core without it being open?

I'm terrified to ask this after the last thread about rewards, but will there be any such rewards for Multi-crew participation?

1) Have done damage to the heat core of a Titan within one week prior to it going into meltdown.
2) You need to have earned a minimum of 2M credits from hitting the core within this time (You earn less credits from the Titan when they still need weakening and have a high damage resistance)
It's probably way too late to implement this but it would be really useful if we had something in-game to tell us that we're eligible to earn rewards from a titan if it dies this week. Similarly having in-game stats (under the statistics in codex) on how much bonds you've contributed to titan kills and how many titans you've contributed would be nice to have for bragging rights later. I heavily assume these won't be the last 8 titans we kill at which point the decal would cap out I assume.

Am I the only one who feels that providing low-effort recolored Thargoid shipkits, as the reward for the defining activity in the game, is underwhelming?
I do hope you are just winding folk up!

Something for free, for doing a couple of minutes play, at best, underwhelming?

Can't please everyone, it seems, perhaps there should be no reward, of any kind, whatsoever, then there would be nothing to complain about! That is right, isn't it?

i do not recall being promised unique reward

say what you want but you will never be able to satisfy everyone...
you argue to make the free reward special. how special would then the paid be? tweak this here for me, tweak that for him... all adding hours of development... for what? free giveaway? that people already spit on? not to mention there can be more realities and difficulties to applying ship kits to the ships than we might be aware of... if this was any other game the titan runs would be locked behind 100 arx per 3-minute chance and a 60 quid battlepass with additional 50 quid deluxe version. recolors are common practice. you already are different from every other one by having the kit. if you want to be a special special one then buy the pretty ones.

theres plenty of things to criticise fdev for. arx and ship kits giveaways arent one of them.
i for one am very thankful for any free cosmetics i can get.
i for one see moaning about free ship kits as extremly distasteful and disrespectful to the people in the company that actually pushed for and succeeded in releasing these kinds of rewards.
While plenty of this is possible (And I noted I wouldn't say no to free stuff), if the system for cosmetics is so goddamn scuffed as to make content creation difficult, it would be overall concerning for the entire future of the game (What I had actually laid out as "I'd like this" could be thrown together in Unity in..... 5ish minutes if I wanted to do it in a cheap way). Meanwhile you are conflating modern exploitative game design (Actually, illegal in several countries now) with me expressing my disappointment with a reward which I felt was not up to what I had expected, which in my opinion deflects the issue instead of addressing it. Note that I had sourced it from the news article on Elite's website. Namely that you could show off how many titans you participated in destroying via the cosmetics: It would thus not make sense if you could bloody well buy said cosmetics.

Tested this paintjob and kit on my Cobra Mk III:

i like your funny words magic man, but you have no power here.
me expressing my disappointment with a reward which I felt was not up to what I had expected
im sorry that you feel that way. to be fair many commanders are not up to what i would expect from them either... :c
but i thought that your friend got mad for having bought the kits... then you got mad that you didnt get the kit askew, which brings me to:
which in my opinion deflects the issue instead of addressing it.
all the issues you mentioned were personal. you dislike, your friend doesnt like... while i recognise you as a person and having a right to have personal beef with the ship kits, you disliking them doesnt mean that the kit is bad. you disliking them means you mismanaged your expectations. therefore there is no issue with the game... (in the relation to this conversation)

thats what the decal is for.

Let me make this clear: I was talking about a widely-used game engine. If I have access to the assets, I would put money on being able to code it in myself as an intern. If the ship kit system is sane (Entity origin point, you effectively make your own entity which appears if the player ship has it selected), then it is incredibly easy.

I have the kit. That's the point. I got the rewards, now I am commenting on them

Forgetting I started with the principled standpoint for this being disrespectful to the people who bought the carapace packs.
thats what the decal is for.
Read the article m8. This is just trying to find an excuse despite the two being mentioned with basically only spacing characters between.

so is it disrespectful to make the kits special or is it disrespectful to make the kits bland?

im sorry but you will have to provide at least a link, if not a quote, because i have no idea what you are talking about. im guessing its the promise of unique rewards?

Making them reskins of purchasable ones. Specifically for players who previously bought the purchasable ones. I provided the example with my friend even.

Hope this suffices as an explanation.

Greetings Commanders!

The Titan Leigong has been reduced to a few smoldering clouds of caustic doom after your incredibly successful military campaign! That's two Titans down, which is an amazing accomplishment!

Whilst we had introduced a number of improvements to resolve issues with bugged Titan instances we are aware that some of you did continue to encounter them. Onto the rewards!

As mentioned previously, Titan rewards are sequential so the more Titans you are engaged in taking down the more you will unlock different rewards. If you took part in taking down Taranis and took part in taking down Leigong you will receive the following:

If this was your first Titan you will receive the rewards listed in here.

For future Titan encounters remember that you need to do the following to unlock the cosmetic rewards:

1) Have done damage to the heat core of a Titan within one week prior to it going into meltdown.
2) You need to have earned a minimum of 2M credits from hitting the core within this time (You earn less credits from the Titan when they still need weakening and have a high damage resistance)

Don't forget you also receive Arx from taking down hearts and gain more if you are a top contributor.

Titans are stronger the more systems they control. If you want to make them vulnerable (And increase the lovely credits payouts) then be sure to work together to take over their controlled systems before challenging the Titan directly!

Will we be getting a corvette version of this? The corvette is one of the more common anti-xeno ships!

I like it 😊 So thanks from me and hopefully I'm able to get some more... ;)

Oh and I wouldn't mind black and grey versions of the decal, too... ;)

I think I'm understanding this, but why not just say:
1) Have done 2M cr. worth of damage to the heat core of a Titan within one week prior to it going into meltdown.

The player base has often needed to carefully analyze the wording to determine true requirements over ED's history, so I'd ask for clarification on what "within this time" means? Does it mean:
(a) 7 days (168 hrs, 0 mins) prior to the final heart kill and the titan enter meltdown;
(b) the period from the weekly Thargsday server tick until the titan's heart-attack and death;
(c) the start of the titan war, when torpedoes were released and we could damage the hearts; or
(d) none/all of the above.

The note on requirement 2) in the original post seems moot if it's the last seven days, since we'll all be hitting it hard at that point... which makes my wonder why it was even mentioned, unless the real answer is (c)... And we all know that in multiple choice situations, when in doubt pick (c)!
