Release Trade Computer Extension Mk.II

Hi Eventure,
it seems TCE quickstart (bypass launcher) is not working anymore. The loading process always stops at 60% and I have to kill TCE. If I don't bypass the launcher TCE completes loading and works fine.

Thanks

Deleting a manually added POI produces this error.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

I had to quite TCE as the error kept showing up continually. Looking at the Locations DB it has marked the deleted Entry as #EMPTY, so it's worked.

DB and Journal sent.

ISSUE 2

When I entered the POI the flag wasn't updated correctly, as you can see below the locations list is "1" when it should be "2" note this only updated after restarting TCE to"1" from the previous manually added POI.

NOTE: After Jumping to a new system the flag was updated correctly to "2"

do you have intentions of adding a list of factions/systems, so we can pick a factions / system to look at , besides the current system we are in

The Navigation panel will show all faction within a selected star system, but picking a faction to track will be only possible at the new Factions panel.
For now, it is only the current star system available, but it maybe extended later to all factions at the database.

Yes, found the issue, with the next update, it will work again.

Deleting a manually added POI produces this error.

Will check the issue...

No specific reason, but it's my first approach. TCE will filter all systems regarding the tracked faction automatically. There is no need to select the systems one by one. As soon as you move to a star system, where the faction is present, TCE will add the system to the list. But maybe you could tell me, why this is problematic in case of tracking many systems?

Don't mind me. As long as it stays the way it's now (i assume the faction data is put into journal on jump into system?), and we can't mass-update the BGS data in the background, i have to test when it's ready if there's any usability in it for me at all.

Atm, we check the states (except pending) and percentages mostly via the galmap.
If i have to visit 20 systems to get that data into TCE, my playtime for that day is over... :D
Even entering the values by hand won't help much but giving a statistic of the past.

There is no way of mass-updating the faction data, because there is no source providing the data at once.
So either you have to travel to each system or using the manual input to enter the data. There is no other way, right?

That's the thing. I thought of it like a way of TCE helping in alerting / making decisions in terms of BGS play.
This won't work. Decisions are being made based on the Galmap atm. So i dunno if having this info available in TCE after i chose to go there bc BGS reasons would help me with that at all.
But keep it coming, perhaps there's some use of it that i can't see atm.

another possible option for the BGS side , would you be able to send the data to EDDB some how ?? to up date the factions ,
i travel around all the systems i look after , only 18 at the moment , takes about 1/2 hour to jump into them all tried it last night,
only down fall we do collect pendings, top 5 and crimes and bounties.
i'm sure once this is being used , more ideas of its use will come to light.

Here are the reasons why I would like BGS tracking in TCE and think it will be helpful.

-Having TCE keep a record of the BGS data I care about, removes the need for me to keep track of it in Excel.
-It therefore also removes the need for me to go 'out of game' to work the BGS.
-Short history (say 2 or 3 weeks) data can be reviewed to see patterns and set future actions. e.g. weekend/pp/cg/state occurrences can direct -when- you want to take actions so states occur when -you- want them to occur. Therefore, when I log on, I have an expectation of where things will be and what I'll have to do.
-If I track many systems (more than 10? 15?) , I can still fat finger in the data to TCE via the Gal for the systems I will not visit...or skip recording data for that system for that day because it's fairly static or relatively unimportant.
-This is no different from economy/price tracking. I have to go to system to see the 'real' prices anyway, since they change often enough and even sometimes commodities are dropped/added. That doesn't make TCE price tracking useless.
-Only looking at what is going on today just helps you -react- to emergencies when something has gone wrong or unexpected. Useful, but not as useful as having past data to see trends. I still want today's data though. If I have, say, less than 10 systems to track, I will probably end up visiting them anyway over the course of my normal BGS work for that day, so no need to fat finger anything, which is great.

Here's my usage expectation, fwiw.

1. Logon with knowledge of what situation I'm in in the various systems I care about, and what I'm going to do that day for BGS stuff.
2. Look around the Gal to verify expectations and find any surprises.
3. If I know I'm not going a system I care about, if desired (see above), fat finger in the data for influence of all factions. Also log state, but only for my faction.
4. Do my BGS stuff. In the course of that, TCE would update the BGS data for those systems as I visit them (and other systems I happen to visit).
5. Logoff with an expectation of what I'll have to do next time I log in.

Right now, with step 3/4, it's a pita, but necessary to me in order to keep track of what's going on.
Also, if I do become interested in a system, it will likely be one I visit in the course of working the 'local area', and in this case, TCE will already have that data. As opposed to right now, where I'd have no clue.

Ugh. EDDB. Just what I need...more people knowing when my War occurs. Please, if that's added, make a checkbox/option defaulted to no. I get it though, people want their easy button. It will probably happen anyway at some point from EDMC, so not sure there's a reason to add it to TCE.

As far as pending, crimes, bounties, I also watch pending (but only track for my faction) and glance at crime/bounty to judge commander traffic. I was planning on putting that type of stuff in the notes section. Maybe an expanded or ordered notes section that has col/row for you to enter values for those?

edit* and I have no idea why the forums didn't auto merge my replies. Sorry.

yep i can see its not everyone's cup of tea, but i'm thinking of a global use , more than a personnel, one as TCE has to think for global users, but a check box would not go a miss

Hi Eventure,

I was playing with the minimap and have some doubts. I hope you can clarify those.

I wanted to use it to fly to various coordinates on a planet. Therefore I added a location by draging it to the approximate position at the map with the grid. After dropping it, a window popped up allowing to enter the exact coordinates. So far so good.
After saving the coordinates for the location, the marker jumped away from the dropped position, but not as I expected to the position of the exact coordinates, I just entered.
When hoovering with the mouse over the location the distance and an angle is shown. I assume this is the distance from my ship's position to the location and the angle I have to use to get to the location?

The distance might be correct, but the angle for sure is not.

What am I doing wrong or missunderstand?

Thanks

Strange, i suddenly start getting this error on start (continue won't work).

I suggest to only create locations at the planetary map at the moment, if you are close above ground or landed/docked, if no other location was stored at the planet before, while landed/docked or above ground.

The background is that TCE requires the radius of the planet to place the location marker at the right spot, and if no location is available, which provides TCE with the proper data, TCE uses your own coordinates to calculate the radius.
So if you were 100 km above ground, the calculated radius is larger than it should, because TCE thinks, you are above ground.

Because the actual ED beta provides the radius for unexplored planets by a scan, TCE will have another source of data, to find the proper radius value.
Maybe I should disable the Planetary Map panel as long as TCE is not certain about the radius. It will be activated by a scan, a registered planetary port or outpost at the surface, or by manual enter, which I still have to add.

Strange, i suddenly start getting this error on start (continue won't work).

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

Edit:
even more strange, it works again. What i did:
- disable fast start in config
- verify via launcher (no errors detected)
- start via launcher

...?

Yes, the Quickstart option has a bug currently, will be fix with the next update.

Hello everybody,

returning from an unscheduled HDD crash, which wiped my hole backup of TCE and many other stuff, so I had wait on new hardware and also had to reinstall my hole system this weekend, I am finally back.

I finalized the Faction panel short before my crash, so here are the latest pictures of it:

I have added the possiblility to select a faction not only from the actual star system for tracking, now you can also add any stored faction. But nevertheless you have a travel once to a system, where a faction reside, to select it.
I've added also a graph chart to show any progress at each system of a faction. It will encompass the data from the last four weeks.
Additionally you can easily change the influence, state and population for each system and faction manually by double-clicking a value.

All reported bugs will also be adressed by the next version, which will be release in the coming week. Had to do some late testing of the planetary map again, where some smaller bugs appeared.

Sorry about the HDD failure, which reminds me, I should back up some of my stuff!

I'm looking forward to testing out the Faction panel.
