Hehe. After experiencing a very sad and incredibly dumb loss of data (pictures of our newborn involved) back in 2013 i made sure things like that won't happen again, ever.
Just FYI, i bought a Synology Diskstation (2x HDD, mirrored / Raid 1) and a licence of Shadowprotect. I can strongly recommend this Combo.
Both of it are used (in other dimensions, ofc.) in our company aswell.
The Diskstation has an insane amount of features, and the Backup Software is fast and reliable.

1. Rename current TCE folder (e.g. D:\TCE.old).
2. Install new full TCE Version (e.g. D:\TCE).
3. Run the TCE Launcher.
4. Select Database -> Transfer -> Choose old folder (D:\TCE.old).
5. After scanning, select Start Transfer.
If you find an error, please report and use the Report an Error button at the launcher and don't forget to copy the error details.

Elite Dangerous Beta Notes:
To all, who wants to test TCE and the ED beta, I suggest the following:
1. Install a beta-dedicated TCE version to your drive and name it so, like D:\TCE.beta
2. Transfer your database from your current TCE version to the beta-dedicated version by the TCE launcher, if you want to use your current database.
3. Don't forget to select the beta version of ED at the launcher of TCE.
4. After starting TCE, you can ignore or allow to process all unprocessed journal file, because TCE will ignore the non-relevant journals (all non-beta), if you have selected the ED beta in step 3.
5. EDMC is not working in beta, so the Connect button is not usable.

Installed the new version, but getting an error on the logbook when verifying the transfer. Tried six times using the repair and verify, but still comes up with an error. The logbook has 17785 entries and the error occurs after repairing at entry 6828. Any ideas please.

My star system notes have disappeared. I installed this beta version to new folder and imported my db, all went ok. Not sure why my star system notes didn't copy over.
New faction panel is AWESOME. Love the actual chart/graph for the faction inf history. Thank you! I see that you can also double click to change/update the factions state via drop down list...very nice. I poked around a bit and couldn't get it to mess up.
Question: For double clicking to change the inf...if I have not been to a system in a few days nor am I in that system, and use TCE to view that faction/system, and then double click to change the inf, will it change 'today's' inf level, or the last day I was there's inf level? Ideally, I could do either, but I don't see a way to tell TCE what day's inf level I want to change. If it's just 'today's' inf level, that is fine.
Very Minor bugs:
- long faction names bleed thru (see PM).
- choose faction to track, click 'show history', hide panel, open panel...TCE remembers I was on that faction's tab (cool!), but the 'show history' button is gone until I click on the factions' button again
- missing 'investment', 'bust', and 'expansion' from faction state drop down list.
- population in star system box is "none". Could be EDMC not working in beta issue?

I, too, got errors yesterday after transferring and verifying, on multiple db's. It was very late, so i decided to not repair and just close it,
can send the unrepaired db for a check later this evening. Looks like a bug in the process to me...

After installing the new version V1.5.3 of TCE in an empty folder the problems started after transfering my databases from V1.5.2.2. Verifying fails at TCE_STARS.DB and after that TCE_RMARKETS.DB, TCE_LOCATIONS.DB and TCE_PERSONAL.DB fail too. Repair seems to do so, at least doesn't throw an error, but a verify afterwards fails at the same position again.
Unfortunately I cannot use your "Report an error" button. But if you want, I can send you the error report and the db by email. Just let me know.
Not sure if anyone else has this problem, but while using this it suddenly disappeared, the shortcut says what it is linked to has disappeared. Now when I try to open what seems to be an .exe linK I get an error saying my visual studio's license has lapsed. I uninstalled Visual Studio months ago.
What I was doing at the time was trying to see if I could get the minimap up to see if it registered asteroids in a belt I was mining. I noticed it stopped showing up when I came out of supercruise this session.
The donate screen was up and saying please donate, I plan on donating a little on the first. I had 300 hrs of use then the overlay disappeared so did the launcher.
Or should I redownload the free Visual Studio 2013 (or whatever it is now) and see if that works?
And another question is there a way I can create an add on? I would like to add material lists for engineers and add to the database for the star systems the types of USS and the materials found in each one as well as what's found in each ring/belt as far as minerals, metals, and materials for engineers/synthesis.

Hearing it the first time, I am using Visual Basic 2010 Express. Try a reinstall and import your old database, but first wait for the new V1.53 release.

The Minimap panel appears only at planets currently, but will check, how to expand it for asteroid belts. Didn't ever mine in ED, so are the asteroids persistant in position? Otherwise it wouldn't make sense to have the Minimap panel.

What? The donation reminder screen has nothing to do with the launcher or overlay. There is no limit in using TCE, so I can't follow you, what the issue is.

No, but copy/paste is not the right way, you can encounter issues because of that. Use the TRANSFER button at the Database window of the launcher instead.

No, but you can ask me for further enhancements of TCE. All your informations could be stored either in the Star System or Location notes.
I don't want to reinvent the wheel, so there are some apps out there, which doing a perfect job in case of engineering stuff. TCE won't cover that area.

Please download it again, if you have used the first release. Please transfer your old database again, if available. Do not copy the new version over your old!
Thanks for all your hard work, I'm still out exploring which is a pity as I'd liked to be able to check out the new feature, but it can wait.
Using Updated V1.5.3
Attempting to transfer old DB from 1.5.2.2 when transferring CARTOGRAPHY.DB it runs through the entries and then when it's done them all it starts again and again, three times in total before proceeding to transfer any of the other DB's. However it completed eventually and I was able to verify the db's as normal and then TCE 1.5.3 loaded up fine.
DB 1.5.2.2 emailed incase you want it to check it out, but it doesn't appear to have caused any problems.
Personal DB errors but is then fixed, however this has happened for several version but doesn't appear to have caused any problems.
SOME OTHER SMALL ISSUES:
ACTIVE BOUNTIES list is not correct as I don't have any bounties at all.
NAVIGATION PANEL:
I'm unable to change the STATE of systems, clicking on STATE OF KNOWLEDGE no longer shows the drop down with the 4 options. It get's updated to VISITED automatically on system entry but I'm unable to change it.
