Release Trade Computer Extension Mk.II

Version [1.6.9.2] released

Changelog:
- Added the Journal path to the TCE.config, so it can be changed (e.g. TCE running on a second PC).
- Added the Cartography Picture path to the TCE.config, so it can be changed.
- Fixed an issue with the journal file detection, if '.log' files are present with a non-standardized file name format.
- Fixed an issue at the star gravity calculation at the Cartography panel.
- Fixed an error with large player.data files, which containing more than 1k lines.

Notes:
Either download the version above, install and transfer your old database, or use the auto-update function of the launcher.
Click the 'new version' notice at the bottom of the launcher.

If you find an error, please report and use the Report a Bug button at the launcher and don't forget to copy the error details and ErrorReportFile.7z archive.

I like to remind any user, who wants to use TCE in french, spanish or russian to help in translating the
latest interface phrases, common commodities and rare commodities at OneSky. Thanks in advance.

Running 1.6.9.2 for the first time generated an error in my registered markets db. I found that after I started TCE, it said I was approaching the market I was docked at (did not start the game yet). I hit the 'repair' button, and it verified ok after that.

But when TCE started again, I saw the same "FSD approaching" and System: Approaching in the location box. When I hit 'connect', TCE did its thing, but threw a "false market" error saying I was at some other market (moxons' mojo)???

It also seems to hang now for about 20-30 sec at 60%, which it did not do before. It does start tho.

So...suggestion, and please don't take this the wrong way. Can we get a "revert to previous version" button or some way to roll back to one version prior to where we are?

If I had the 1691 files that 1692 replaced, I could just paste them over the 1692 files, and be back up and running right? I know something like this isn't always possible with the changes that are made, but it would be cool and less hair raising I suppose.

Have sent you a test version for a check per mail.

In this case it would work, but if one or more databases were expanded, fixed or changed, it could be a problem.
To realize it, the TCE Updater has to know, what files got replaced due to the update and store them before they got overwritten.

Will try to add it...

Have now updated the latest release to fix a date format issue. If you encounter a location mismatch issue right after startup, please reload the update.

The way I manage this is to create a copy of the current version folder prior to updating to the new version of TCE, then if there's a problem I can just load up the previous version of TCE.

I cannot get 1.6.9.2 to run. I installed to E:\TCE (E:\ is the same drive ED is installed on). I run TCE and I attempt to login and it immediately crashes with the below error and will not continue past this point. If I click continue, the error disappears and the bottom "loading" animation continues for as long as I leave it on the screen. I left it for over an hour as I forgot I had it on the screen and went to eat... No change. I have rebooted the machine to see if that would get things moving. No luck.

Windows 10 64bit.

Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks!

Hi,

can you send me your player.data file for a check? You will find it at the CMDR\Name\ folder.
Please send it to eventure[at]ki.tng.de.

Hi mate, wanted to report an error much like the one above. Only started occuring today. Other than that I've found the app to run really well :)

Hi i was getting the same error.

When going to CMDR\Name folder there was no player.data file so i moved old one over and it worked.

I was updating from 1.6.6.7 to the latest and had backed up the old folder.

This error came up on first run of program

So I'm using TCE for the first time (a few years too late maybe) and have some questions and problems. I'm not sure if I'm using it wrong, or if I'm just asking it to do stuff it wasn't designed to do.

1) I understand you have the option of starting with a blank database, or using a generated one, built around your current location, using TCE-Relay. Is this still current? I came across some old information saying it was shut down.

2) Assuming I selected the pre-made database, should I expect to be able to immediately tell the computer to find me a suitable trade route / destination for trading, based on my current location, or am I supposed to first fly all over the place in order to populate a list of stations?

3) Using Routes -> Finder, Search trade route, I can never find a trade route no matter what filters I set.

4) Similarly, using the Trade button, I see my current station on the left, with an up to date list of commodities and such, blank space in the middle, and on the right, "No trade market at your" With everything blank.

5) Looking at Navigation -> Market Places, except for my current location, every market currently has an very large and very red Data Age of 512914 (if this is minutes, its just under a year old). I guess this relates to question 1)

Hi i was getting the same error.

When going to CMDR\Name folder there was no player.data file so i moved old one over and it worked.

I was updating from 1.6.6.7 to the latest and had backed up the old folder.

This error came up on first run of program

I am having this exact problem, except I bombed out my backups because I always do a clean install - old habit from when updating in-place never really worked right. Installing 1.6.9.1 fixed it. Error message below:

Version [1.6.9.3] released

Changelog:
- Fixed an error when resizing font or panel at the Cartography panel.
- Fixed an error on start up, if the player.data file wasn't present.

Yes, TCE-Relay is no longer supported, the build-in EDDB-Relay (Extensions tab) has taken over the role and has more options. Create a DB of stations around your current position and thereafter update all of them by using the "TRADE STATION UPDATE" button.
This has to be done only once a day, before launching TCE. Select include station data, shipyard and outfitting to complete your database set and don't forget to set the Data Age to actual.
You should also update all populated star systems with the "UPDATE STAR SYSTEMS" button. The "UPDATE FACTIONS" button is only required, if you tracking minor faction, you have selected at the Faction panel in TCE.

2) Assuming I selected the pre-made database, should I expect to be able to immediately tell the computer to find me a suitable trade route / destination for trading, based on my current location, or am I supposed to first fly all over the place in order to populate a list of stations?

You will only find stations, which got added by EDDB-Relay before or if you travel to a station, TCE add it automatically to your database on docking.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, what you described is exactly what I did, except I did forget to change the data age from 14 to actual.

Even still, I was not getting any results in the route planner or trading screen like I said before.

Since my first post, I have updated the database in the launcher with actual date, and have flown to a couple of different stations. I am now getting an auto destination and a trade suggested for me (to a system I have not yet visted) but the route planner still comes up blank. Do I have any control over what shows up in the auto destination?

Route Finder results are depending on your position and the filter settings.
Decrease Data Age filter, increase Search Range, reduce Profit per Unit and/or Profit per Route, play around with the filter.

Additionally, it depends on the number of stations you have in database. Selecting a 'Range' on 100 LY's around your position, when creating an initial database at the launcher, will give you many many stations, if you are at the main bubble. The number of stations, you have data access, are shown at the Navigation panel (Market Places tab). Increase the Trade Range at the Navigation panel for more stations, if required.

You can also adjust the selection of trade station by the auto-destination selector at the Options panel.

Hi:

I'm getting the following error (see pic) when I try to go to the databases tab on the launcher. It's like it can not access my drive for some reason. (Not sure why it is saying "L:\System Volume Information" ... and not something like "L:\Games\TCE")

C96ojA2.jpg

I just updated to the latest version of TCEMKII using the update via launcher screen this time. I noticed it did not have any of my cartography data, nor any of my settings, so it appears it just does what you do when you download a full update and do it manually (creates a backup directory, etc.) automatically. So I copied all my cartography stuff (directories with screenshots basically) as I have in the past, but that is about the only thing.

Any idea why this is occuring? I'm assuming until I get the DB tab issue sorted out, I won't be able to see any of my cartography (i.e. star/planet snapshots) until then.

Thanks,
Tim

Hi Tim,

can you send me a bug report via the launcher and please attach the ErrorReportFiles.7z.
You could also check the TCE.config file at the root folder of TCE, if the CartographyPicturePath entry is properly set.

BINGO! Thanks, that was it ... the path was listed as "". Weird thing is, I changed it, relaunched, and same issue, and also it no longer knew where the game executable was located. So I closed, re-opened the config and sure enough the the path was back to "" for the carto, and the game path was empty. I fixed both, re-saved and now it is perfectly fine ... database tab is working, sees all the DB's (currently unverified of course) and is working smoothly.

Thanks again!
