Unfortunately, it doesn't. =(

While still relatively new, some apps are starting to crop up that allow the user to overlay windows onto VR games. I imagine this might work with TCE; however, there is an issue specific to a few games, including Elite. Elite uses a 'Direct-to-Rift' method of delivering the picture, because of the way it is written. This makes it impossible to overlay anything into the Rift, at least yet.

It is for this reason that I only occasionally use the Rift in Elite, as I have a heavy reliance on a number of apps, Discord, websites, and others that you can't tab to in the Rift or otherwise overlay. I'd have to remove the headset repeatedly to see those apps, which is both frustrating and difficult for someone who needs glasses.

Se... what we need is a app-to-Rift app that feeds a app into Elite?

Note: I am already reading the VD operations and I think this can be done naturally but we need to open some gateways to affix the 'top/bottom' of the visible area.
I CAN apply angel adjust to the individual panels with adjustable polygon edges to allow TCE to be "stuck" to various parts of the individual ship UI... the hard part it making them stuck dimensional to where you put them ask you look around... basically defining a 360 degree sphere location that keeps that constant where you put it.

EDIT: Ok, could use the fixed location of the VD sphere, and use IT to stick stuff... so will remain 'apparent' to the game... just needs to define the thread that let us have 2 VR streams at the same time from different sources....

i would like to give some feedback to the TCE Mk II.

it is a great Tool wich doesnt leave many whishes open!

Some Bugs/problems i ran into:
- saving any Market or location with a Distance [LS] like that "1.500,47" or "249,36" couses Error messages on saving wich reaper even if you save a market with Distances like "1.500" or "249" afterwards.
the error messages vanish after a TCE restart and a database verify. however the errormessages do not stop TCE from working. it simply continou after clicking the Ok button.

-something that was a little bit unfortunate:
The import Funktion does actually overwrite everything already in the database :(
so i found the example database with these 150 registred stations after i already started adding my own stations.
i tried to import it and had to imediatly restore my own database or it would be lost...
(understandeble to prevent ppl. from adding croudsurced data but actually not the definition of an Import function, more like an reload or restore function)

plz Continue the good work on the TCE [up]
i like the Tool and i'm excited to see the next version and its inproovments.

Thanks for your report, will check the issue on saving a market.
TCE stores every first start of TCE a backup into the backup folder. You can so restore the backup, if something goes wrong.

Actually, TCE importing your selected database, making adjustments to the data, if required, and producing new database files for the actual version.
So I can make sure, all user's have the same base databases. But in the last time, there was no need in importing an old database, because nothing changes significantly.
But with the next version of TCE, an import is required, because of different additions to the base databases.
@Will add a note, when process is finished, that your current database will be overwritten.

Hi.

I have a problem using the new TCE.

The overlay function is not working at all, and during the inital setup when config the TCE dosnt recognize my character locaiton or used ship.

Any idea what is wrong?

First question, are you running the TCE in Admin Mode?
Second: Are you running the game in borderless window?

1. Please run ED in borderless window mode.
2. Install EDMC, set it up and register a market or click the 'Connect' button at a registered market (see this guide to setup EDMC and register a market)

The Elite Dangerous Market Connector (short EDMC) provides all data about your commander and much more, like market commodities, player ships, available outfittings and ships you can buy at the market.

Good afternoon, Eventure or anyone wanting to help. It's been awhile since I last played/used TCE but all looks even better than before!
Now that being said I am having a little issue again and need some help. I have the latest version installed and I'm treating this as a new install with nothing registered by me yet.
After I set up everything (logs and paths etc) and try to launch TCE the launcher asks me to launch ED but it's already on and after a couple of seconds reverts back to "TCE is ready to launch" But hitting launch again has no effect.
I have made sure that my game is running border-less and EDMC is updated and has registered where I am. Idk if this could be some Log/Path issue but everything seems in order in that area, but I am just unsure.

Welcome back,

TCE has detected, that your last netlog file wasn't written with verboselogging parameter on. So TCE ask you to start elite dangerous and waiting for the start, so checking if it is running.
Because you already have ED running, ED wasn' started and the netlog file doesn't change.

Thanks for reporting the issue. I will add a notice, that ED has to be restarted before launching TCE. So your problem should be fixed by restarting ED before launching TCE.
 
I have tried again still to no avail. I will be back after work though to provide more feedback.

I had something similar the first time.

Make sure TCE is derected to the right version of ED.

By default ED is running the 64 bit version or at least it does for me but TCE was detecting the 32 bit executable.

Just had to specify the right one once and it's been working great since.

Might be just me so have someone double check but I've noticed that the credits panel does not have a Maximize sound.

It does have the same minimize as Waypoints and Summary but no sound on Maximize.


Also, all 3 panels always minimize on startup even when the options are not checked in the option menu.


Small stuff, otherwise TCE is working beautifully !

Scratch that commander, apparently that WAS the case. I do not understand why I have 2 folders in steam for this game but it wasn't the one labeled HORIZONS for some reason.

I get the sound issue, hadn't thought about it.

At the moment I am trying to find a way to make the TCE work in Oculus Rift mode as well...

i have another smaal bug to report:

If you use the Planet ID for Planetary stations and/or orbital stations.
and if the Auto Destination for trade points to a station with a Planet ID
the systemname and the planet id will be copied to the clippboard.

so strg+v in the galaxy map route planner won't work as quick as intendet because you have to remove the planet Id from the search field.

it will be copied like this "SystemName : PlanetID" but unfortunately Elite can't search for that.

If you use a Manual Set Destination (route planner, route finder or just mannually selected destination) it does not copy the Planet ID with the System Name.
so it could be a smal difference in the code and has probably nothing to do with the storage in the database.

hope that might be of help :)


Sugestion for improvement in the next version:
(maybe you have already thought about it already)
the EDMC already has the option to automatically connect on docking.
so maybe you could add a simmilar option for the TCE to automatically connect when Docking on already Registred Markets. Yea its for the lazy people :-D

Will add it as an option for the next version, because we getting a single 'Docked' event from the journal. Should be no problem with it.
