Release Trade Computer Extension Mk.II

... Finding my way around ED again, are there any other tools/mods for traders that you guys use all the time? Or other non-trader must-have mods/tools? I'm looking at some of the EDMC plugins, some of them look interesting!

Some already pointed out, but I'll add votes for
- EDEngineer - takes a bit to learn to use it effectively, but amazing when you do - http://edcodex.info/?m=tools&entry=435
- INARA website - for lots of reasons - https://inara.cz/
- EDDB - https://eddb.io/
- Rare Trading Distances Calculator - http://edtools.ddns.net/rares.php?s=
- oh, and TCE ;-)

- Rare Trading Distances Calculator - http://edtools.ddns.net/rares.php?s=

I didn't know about that tool, so I checked it out and found it to be missing 9 systems. I have a full list which has 131 systems, but that page has only 122 [the 4 systems that have 2 Rares are not included in that number] And no I don't know which ones are missing yet :p

I found 2:
Arque - Baird Gateway - Shan's Charis Orchid.
Harma - Gabriel Enterprise - Silver Sea Rum [Which even the tool below had missing until I updated the mod]

This is the one I've used: http://elitedangerous.hozbase.co.uk...rom?system=shinrarta dezhra&distancely=400000

Good call. It appears that Rare Trading Distances Calculator hasn't updated since July '17. I haven't traded Rares since before that.
With a very quick glance, one 'permit required' system is missing: Crom, but four others are included (???).

Well since I don't use that option I cannot tell you. What I can tell you is if you just close that window the error file is generated in the TCI Folder. You can then either add it to dropbox like I do and just paste a link here, or you can use whatever email app you use and just add the file as a attachment and send it to Eventure that way. His email address is Eventure@ki.tng.de

Hope that helps

Crosby

Thanks, but where does it place the file? I've looked in all the TCE folders and cannot find anything obvious :S

I been testing the beta and you'll all be happy to know that the issue with EDMC 3.0.1 has been resolved along with some other issues.

I have found that the issue with not registering Planetary Stations until you restart TCE is still an issue, but Eventure is aware of this.

The issue with errors being thrown when scanning planets/NAV Beacon I haven't seen. But over the last few days it's been fairly inconsistent when an error is thrown, sometimes I get it and other times I don't, so I can't say if this is fixed or not due to only being able to play for a short period of time.

I didn't get to test for long, approx 3 hours, due to the Frontier API server going down, so I couldn't get Commodity data.

I don't know when the update will be released, as you know Eventure is recuperating from the Flu, so he isn't able to apply fixes and test them in game. I was very surprised that Eventure had created a beta update anyway.

Thanks for the headsup ;)

Version [1.6.7.6] released

- Added specific material trader type filter to the Navigation panel (Trade Markets).
- Fixed the 'EscapeInterdiction' so TCE doesn't report an unhiding UI, where the UI wasn't hidden.
- Fixed the object name bar not removed when using a hotkey to take a picture at the Camera panel.
- Fixed an issue when launching a drone, the Cargo panel didn't get updated.
- Fixed an error with the lastest EDMC release.

Notes:
Either download the version above, install and transfer your old database, or use the auto-update function of the launcher.
Click the 'new version' notice at the bottom of the launcher.

If you find an error, please report and use the Report a Bug button at the launcher and don't forget to copy the error details and ErrorReportFile.7z archive.

I like to remind any user, who wants to use TCE in french, spanish or russian to help in translating the
latest interface, common and rare commodities phrases at OneSky. Thanks in advance.

Thanks to Eventure for making this mod and thanks to Abil Midena, bAdbUd, and Pul Myfinger for answering my questions!

Regarding the Extensions and EDDB Relay, it seems like the best way to use it is to start from the bottom then go up? Create initial database first, then update factions, star systems, and lastly trade stations? Is this right? What is the difference between data age of prices being 30 or actual?

Hi Ice,

hope you will like it, there are many things to explore...

Regarding EDDB-Relay, when it is your first contact with TCE, it is good to create an initial database, so you have something to work with.

Begin with a radius of 100 LY's around your current position and let EDDB-Relay fill your database with stations (planetary and space, if you like).
Thereafter should come the Station Update, incl. commodity, outfit and shipyard data. Then make a Star System Update by EDDB-Relay, which brings you up-to-date.
A Faction Update is only required, if you are doing faction work and tracking one or more of them. This will update the progress of your tracked fractions and could be reviewed at the Factions panel.

The Data Age is a limiter for the EDDB-Relay to update only commodity prices older than the selected value. I would recommend to set it to Actual, to have the newest data in database.

Thanks for the reply Eventure! I'm still learning how to use the mod and really appreciate the answers. I've copied bAdbUd's settings of 30,000,000 LY and 1,000,000,000,000 LS from my current location. Is there going to be an issue with this?

As for the trade stations, star systems, and factions, is there any overlap between the data they collect and thus, an ideal order at which they're updated? Or does it not matter in which order I update them?

Thank you for confirming using ACTUAL for the data age!

ok so, since the last version update of the TCE app, when I use the routes finder I get this error message:

************** Debug JIT **************
Per abilitare il debug JIT, è necessario impostare il valore
jitDebugging nella sezione system.windows.forms del file di configurazione
dell'applicazione o del computer (machine.config).
L'applicazione inoltre deve essere compilata con il debug
abilitato.

Ad esempio:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

Quando il debug JIT è abilitato, tutte le eccezioni non gestite
vengono inviate al debugger JIT registrato nel computer,
anziché essere gestite da questa finestra di dialogo.

Hope you can fix this, thanks.

I am not software engineer. All of a sudden TCE won't launch. It get's a good start and then says: "Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. Argument "Length" must be greater or equal to zero.

Well "continue " doesn't work. The launch bar just stops at 60% of launch and that's it. Have to shut TCE down with task manager. Play elite wirhout it. I have a copy of the details contained in the window. I have no idea what it is talking about. Any help should I just uninstall TCE and live without it?

Please send me first an error report with the report a bug button at the launcher and incl. the errorreportfiles.7z file from the root of TCE.

Thereafter, start ED once before TCE to bypass the issue.

@If it continous to happen, please do run the ED Auto-Detection at the launcher (settings tab).

I can't recommend this settings, and not at all for a beginner with TCE. I suggest to stay with my suggestion.
TCE will get a little laggy with such a gigantic mountain of data, but depends mostly on your hardware specs.
It's a setting to have all available in database, but I would like have things to explore on my own.
Additionally the EDDB-Relay update time increasingly vastly. I don't know, why he had made such an suggestion?!

There is no overlap, each part is seperated. There is no order or anything. Again, create a database with more reasonable values first!
Thereafter, update once a day, before starting TCE, all stations and star systems, and factions, if you doing faction work, but as long you didn't selected a faction to track, it isn't available.

I'm guessing it's so that he get as much data as possible? If you recommend 100LY, how many LS? What do you mean about exploring on your own?

I think 100LY is a bit too small though.... I frequently travel 100+LY, sometimes 250LY or more to join up with other players. Can you tell me what file this setting generates so I can compare this setting vs. smaller LY values? I'll test this out for the moment and see if it becomes laggy.

Thank you for your quick replies!

10.000 LS, much farer is not required, most of the time.

It's the TCE_Prices.db and especially TCE_Outfitting.db, which climbing really fast with more markets in your database. Can go up to 300 MB.

Hey, for me, ED is an exploring game, becoming all at once at the table make someone smile, but I feel, it removes something from the game. Did you heard of 'Trade-Exploration'?

I've read that Hutton Orbital is the station farthest from the it's sun at 6,784,404 LS, thats in the Alpha Centauri sector.
So using 1,000,000,000,000 LS maybe a little to far. Don't know about the 30,000,000 LY. Don't know what size the known universe is.

The farthest I've ever been is to Yurchikhin Port in the Geras sector. That station is 1,052,920 LS out.

Some bugs maybe:

- Sometimes the planetary mini map comes up, but doesn't activate/update with position and ship orientation. It may only happen when there is no known location on the planet. It seems to work right when I goto a planet that has a planetary port, for example. I will keep an eye out to see if this pattern holds.

- I docked at a planetary port and got an error. On TCE restart, it recognized where I was ok.
See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.
