Transfer Poll Results

5 minutes is the minimum. It will take as long as 100 minutes. That is a considerable waste of time in a game that excels at disrespecting a player's time.

You have 100 minutes to do whatever you want with your current ship, not just sit on your bottom being idle. I'd say that's 100 minutes much better spend than when transferring ships right now, where you are stalled in the meantime since you have to conduct this tedious process yourself.

C'mon, guys.... how many times do we have to remind you all to play nice and not stick pointy objects in each others' eyes?

I propose a little drinking game..... For every post in this thread that is completely civil, I shall take a shot. Mmmkay? (No...no drinking for rude posts...trying to encourage good behavior here!)

This community is very nice and I'm happy to be a part of it.

Also whenever I think of this forum, blossoms come to mind.

PS: never mind me, I'm just happy for the poll result.

I still think we need to try and add some of the features of instant, but in a more palatable way.
Maybe as part of a military career you could have access to to their hardware at war zones.
A bit of instant game play for those who crave it.
I like this idea, this actually makes sense and provides a new kind of reward, a new objective in the game. Could be very cool with ships with faction related skins, special versions like the original military Asp mk2 . Would add a whole new flavour to the local wars and possibly community goals. It adds the ability to have roleplay aspects, where you could be part of the search and rescue teams after building rep and gaining employment by NPC teams with specific missions and everything... you are onto something here. Too bad this is going to get buried in this thread.

I will now be nice enough so you have to take many shots, so many shots you get to the point where you should put down your keys and stop modding, but instead you'll keep telling yourself that you're sober enough to mod. It's only a few posts, I'll be fine!
.
The next day all is quiet as all forum accounts have been banned. You'll also have a headache.

Well, someone just wants to get completely faced tonight!

Cheers, Commander!

Leave the ship in the hangar, K?

I have to agree here. If they just mentioned "ship transfer" and then said nothing more about it (such as "it is instant" or whatever, this whole charade would have been avoided... completely.

I think the question about time taken to transfer was asked by one of the presenters on the Gamescom live stream. When the guy answered that it was instant, eyebrows were raised! :D

Yeah I voted Instant. I was blown away (in a good way) when it was 1st announced as such. I never saw anything like that coming. When so many people were against it, it didn't surprise me one bit. When it was put to a vote, FD declared outright that they leaned heavily on the delay side... It all culminates to not being very surprised at the outcome... I was more surprised when it was 1st announced as instant.

Oh well. Ship/module transfer with a delay should still be a step forward...better then none at all.

None, hour and a 3/4 wait means the same thing to me.

See what you started Jenner! Remember, you asked for this! [hehe][wacky]

See my last post... and then scull the bottle.

I hate this. And I hate the community for forcing this upon us. A useful feature will now be just another nuisance and time sink. What about all of you who whine about supercruise travel times being to long? And whining about having to wait for a target ship to show up during a mission? And now you vote for a delay on ship transfer? And just because the community apparently lacks the imagination to imagine that it is actually not your ship that is teleported to you by space magic but instead a replacement vessel assembled from pre-fabricated hulls and modules that are stored within a stations internal storage areas while your ship in turn is taken into storage at the other station and disassembled into a hull and modules?
Really ticked off at the moment. This community is a bunch of hypocrates. So why instant repairs? Why instand loading and unloading of cargo. Why instant weapon upgrades etc. Let's have a delay on all of that you know because of "realism". While we're at it, why not just play one of those real time browser games? Your ship will be ready in three hours. Have fun...You gotta be kidding me.

You're not alone. Some 10k people voted like you did, it appears. I did too.

.. I feel the joy down in my heart :D

Congrats, Frontier in caving and detrimenting gameplay for the sake of so-called immersion times. As an avid role player, not just here, but in other games as well I am deeply disappointed in an unnecessary time sink being added to the game just for the sake of people not being able to suspend their disbelief. Good job...

Instant would have ruined the balancing act we all have to perform when equipping our ships; it would just be too easy to have one long range ship and then instantly drag your whole fleet anywhere you wanted it. There would be no point in paying out for that A class FSD for your FDL or Corvette and you could use the extra power to overcharge all weapons - would completely change the nature of all ships.

As long as I can travel somewhere, and after an epic journey, transfer my ships and see them at the station the next day rather than repeatedly buy and discard taxis, I'll be more than pleased with this QoL improvement.

I could probably finish the rest of Sons of Anarchy that I need to finish with the time I notice that doesn't need my full attention. The time is amplified if you are an Explorer doing jumps to a new section of stars, a trader doing runs, a miner waiting for limpets to fill your cargo, super cruising to a station... The list goes on, there is most certainly time for multi-tasking. I don't see it as a problem and yes, some people do need stimulation every second. We're in an age where that's possible, so it's done.

All the things you mention are not time wasted in the game, they are time spent playing the game.
You want instant jumps, instant trade runs, instant mining and instant travel between space stations? I can see why you are frustrated, you have apparently no imagination, or sense of perspective.
And yet you can be stimulated by watching TV?? The most mind-numbingly non-interactive, intelligence sapping, and lethargic activity currently known to the human race? Your mind would boggle, if you cared to use it. Wow.

I think you were both arguing the same point : You need to multi-task to keep occupied. Whether that's ingame or outside of the game isn't really that important.

Interesting. I wonder how many players Elite: Dangerous truly has. 39K isn't exactly a strong number.

over 700,000 steam users, that doesnt include non steam users

Sales total around 1.4million

so 38k is naff all

I hope FD made the right choice.

Caving in to the minority could upset the majority.

IMO FD Just added yet ANOTHER time sink to the game.....

Meh!

I wish I could have read it that way, unfortunately I only took it as an attack. Perhaps next time I should put a 5-100 minute delay on my reaction.

Yeah, maybe you shouldn't have given up on the Design Decision Forum.

Yeah. Let's go crazy even : maybe the DDF was actually *representative* of the game's playerbase ?

Oh but NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, let's do CQC instead, much better .... It will be a resounding success !!

*sigh* I'll never forgive that. Well, at least until atmospheric planetary landing. :D

Agreed

Just gives me an incentive to LOG OUT of the game while i wait for my ship to be delivered, and go play another game probably.

It's nice that FD are making motions in the game and saying "hey, our game is boring and makes you wait up to 100 minutes before you can do the next thing, why dont you log out and go play something else?"

lolz Hard!
