You guys have it all wrong. Trump is actually playing 4D chess and you just can't understand his brilliance.

(I had to laugh when gizmodo mentioned the 4d chess bit, it fits perfectly)

He is still the president, sadly. His rantings will have consequences in diplomatic international relations at the very least. Surely the US intelligence community wouldn't risk provoking North Korean aggression, not to mention worsening Chinese and South Korean relations, by pushing Trump into foolish proclamations?

On the other hand they may be looking at Trump and deciding that is the lesser of two evils, so there is that.
At this point armed conflict means nuclear war. What means they cannot be provoked, but also? They cannot provoke others. The game is changed, since both party have the nuclear option in the table. No more jumping poking prodding and angering the other, no more empty threats It's one thing when a poor but in military terms able nation do this? And entirely other when a nuclear power do the same.

End of the childhood.

Stalemate To N Korea this means victory. To Trumph? [down]
For my part? I'm not happy with it. but let's see how they will going to act right now?

You might not "touch" him, but annihilating him is a real possibility. It's US restraint that has allowed this farce to continue beyond the point where it could have been dealt with before the consequences escalated. China and Russia are every bit as culpable.

One way or another, this is not going to end well for anyone, but it will end.

Agree completely that procrastination has got us here.

Predicting a hot war on the peninsula?

I cannot see the NoKo guys deciding to disarm in the face of an invasion. If I'm holding a gun on intruders in my house, why would I hand it over "so we can talk"? They can talk to the bullet.

That war to disarm option won't fly because the risk to the homeland is now too great. it's not like the Iraq War, where the proof of no WMD was because the US invaded. They CAN'T invade now. And the military knows it.

So that only leaves the Strategic level option. On the border with China? Highly dubious. It would wreck the world economy, and poison South Korea.

And to destroy a nation with nukes? that's genocide, From the most brutal kind of. We don't talk about the madness of Hitler, Or dying due starvation, the execution of the population trough a really brutal ethnically or religiously motivated war, or just let them die in the sicknesses what you bought in! But the cold blooded aforethought total utter destruction of an entire nation. You cannot survive this in a democracy. And a nation whom do this cannot survive the world political consequences.

Maybe the calculation is that the man too cowardly to fight personally will eat crow in public when push comes to shove.
Look at his bravery with Pena Nieto?
They are maybe doing a test of his testosterone in public, and are sure he'll lose face.

Personally, I think that China and the U.S. should be jointly demonstrating their missile defence systems. Showing N.K. first hand that it don't matter how many missiles N.K. launch; they are going to fall out of the sky in seconds and more importantly; that the U.S. and China are happy to work together.

This 'my fire maker is bigger than yours', belongs in the stone age.

That's the other possibility.

Edit; But even in this case they still have nukes, and the necessary power to reach anywhere with it, + Defenses are not 100% At this point nuclear defense is just too unreliable, to act like they are not there. No changes, N Korea still have his nukes, and can launch it, MAD doctrine still in play, only less reliable, but to think because of this you can be cocky? That's suicide.

Not to mention what makes anyone think from this point the Nuclear powers not going to rig their bomb to explode in case of the carrier rocket destruction? With this much power and number of bombs it just don't matter where they are actually explode, MAD doctrine still can and will mean the end of the world. Or make carriers whom better than the current defensive weaponry like Satan II.

Could be wrong here, but it seems to me that up till this point, the US military isn't listening to the President, by his own assent. He gave them control of both the wars they're fighting. He's ceded power in the White House to Generals. They have ignored the Transgender ban, and there's been zero consequences so far.
They haven't "ignored" it, I'm not even sure if that would actually be within their power to do. It's not been done only because no such direction has yet been given to the Secretary of Defense from the President.

that would mean something like work, to him. It is amusing that he said, made a big thing of it and yet; as you pointed out, has not followed it through. All of which could be learnt, at Chump University.

To listen to the generals talk, the announcement blindsided them, which seems fairly typical of Trump's tweets. I 'm sure there was resistance to this that wasn't expected, even though there is a lot of popular support for it especially after the NDAA vote failed a couple weeks prior. One thing I'm pretty certain about Trump, he's finding out there is probably a metric crapton more of bureaucracy to cut through than even the real estate business.

I don't believe that we have heard the last of this however.

Don, has of course; got it wrong: The puppies and children, are the wrong way around. Or maybe you miss-quoted him?

I dont know. Maybe I mis-attributed the quote, I dont check my sources. You can analyze it if you want, I myself just liked the satire. :)

NoKo threatens to hit Guam after the "Fire and Fury" speech.

Rhetoric is escalating. Who will call chicken first?

The previous bombs used in Japan were Little Boy, and Fat Man. If they bomb NoKo, they should call that one Fat Little Boy.
