It's a "truism" repeated often by those on the American right, like "Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on who gets eaten for dinner".

There is a massive anti-democratic streak over there, leading to another bizarre phrase they keep repeating - "The United States is a not a democracy, but a republic".

"Extreme weather" caused by greenhouse gasses actually sounds a little more urgent than Climate Change anyway. It might be a good phrase to adopt.

A lot of people dismiss climate change because of the label "Global Warming". They think a little bit of heat will be okay. They don't understand what happens when you add energy to a chaotic system.

It's a terminology problem where folks don't know the difference between "weather" (transient) and "climate" (underlying system)...

It's like those creationist "it's only a theory" idiots.

More energy to an already chaotic system, accompanied with cutting all the tethers providing stability. It's fly. And fly high!

But after that?

On driver or pilot terms? He giving gas without regaining stability first. And we don't talking about coming out from a turn or attitude loss in there.
