Type 6 - To boldly go

Honestly we need to get some funky skins for the Type 6... sure, have some cool one (well as cool as the space equivilent of an 18 wheeler can be) but personally I'd like to have it looking like a Space Hippy van or the Mystery Machine ;)

The Mystery Machine would be awesome. Heck anything Hanna Barbara themed would be great for that ship. I used it to explore and trade in rares, good ship and not too expensive to equip and maintain.

Even if it couldn't be "exact" I'd settle for it just being the right shade of green with a couple of orange markings on it ;) A secondary blue on the scheme would be nice, but not mandatory.

Everyone is entitled to fly what they want and opinions are opinions

The Asp is a better explorer, but the Cobra no :(

It's about jump distance when you are out in the dark stuff and the T6 can out hop the fun Cobra. It's horses for courses - and I back the T6 over the Cobra by a nose ;)

Why does jump distance matter unless you are racing to a specific point? I'm headed towards the core in a cobra with 15ly jump range, I can't imagine this will be a problem though I am quite the explorer noob.

Apologies I should have qualified my brash statement - as you get closer to the edge of the galaxy the systems can be further away from each other and less dense in number, then every last LY of jump becomes more important. It just becomes a question of physical distance. The same can happen if you find yourself in area full of no fuel stops - running low on gas out there is not fun :( (or in the Badlands as Mossy will tell you :p)

Also if you're trying to reach a destination - the distance between 15ly and 30ly is essentially a matter of halving the time it takes to get there.

Awesome, another backroad driver!

Good choice of ships, one of my esteemed group buddies has done a fair distance in a T6.

I'm off out into the wilds in something even less appropriate. A Clipper with it's tiny fuel tank. Maybe catch you out there somewhere!

Next frame captures CMDR Ripster turn tail and rushing back to Human space to claim the first find!!

I'll go with that. I was 1500 ly out on an exploration trip, decided it was time to go home for a break, made in 2 hours in my T6.

Love it! Though they couldn't include the Mystery Machine logo. And the stars could go - just make it so the Elite Rank Decals are that color of orange and the homage is complete ;)

If they made this available I'd so snatch it up :D

Mossfoot - the rubbish flowers and logo were there just in context and also didn't want to spend more than 5 mins doing it (boss would object - otherwise 5 days maybe :) )

Appreciate the love :)

Also on the orange smash and grab first naming shot pic - can you spot the venerable Ripster at the helm? I dressed up and all :)

Of course, wouldn't want you to go out of your way on something we'll never have on our ships anyway ;)

Just hit my first neutron star today (well not literally ). Something quite thought provoking as I sat motionless looking on at something that looked so very small but still had a massive mass. The view is so strange, when on the radar there is a large "blob" but swung the ship around and trying to actually see the star proved so much harder just using the visual out of the cockpit. A tiny white dot in the darkness.

I recommend that everyone should visit one whilst out in the black beyond :)

Hurrah for the T6. The OP is wise, it does run awfully hot, so put a decent power plant in there.. However, fit it out well, and it's a wonderful crate for everything except combat :)

It can handle itself pretty well in combat against NPC's at least. I have a fully A rated Type 6 and it's sent a few NPC pirates to the afterlife. Almost every Eagle I have encountered, except one that got away into SC, a few Vipers and a couple of unshielded Cobras and even a Clipper, (only because it had a novice pilot or I would have run from that one). With A rated thrusters, the Type 6 is surprisingly agile.
