U15 update notes are online!

I clicked on the update button of the ED launcher, it downloaded stuff, and now it has been stuck in the "Sync files" mode for several hours now. I somehow doubt it's going to get anywhere even if I leave it be for days.

Am I, once again, the only person experiencing this?

Maybe I should just cancel it and do it all over again.

IIRC there is an option in the launcher where you can disable the virtual cache. If nothing else helps, it may be worth a try. Cured similar symptoms in earlier releases quite reliably, but it may download more.

Plus, empty the Windows internet cache. ED uses WinInet for updates.

Had no time to test today, but they mentioned the Anaconda paint Jobs. Did they manage to fix the mirrored bump maps? (The embossed DeLacey Logo for example)

I wonder why some fleet carriers are still shown on their own...

I see my friends FC's separately outside of the group, but in-line with the group... as if it would have otherwise been included in the group... I also see my own FC outside of the group.... But I have my friends FC's bookmarked. Your pic doesn't show bookmarks. Do you know those people? or are you affiliated with a group or something that they are also part of? That would be really cool if they showed the difference from friends and strangers FC's...

Looks as designed, and it's nice IMHO. Programmatically, one would put the FCs into buckets of 5 or so and group them together, showing only the buckets as a group symbol plus the surplus individually. The effect would be you can still count the total amount of carriers while still de-cluttering the view. Think of counting items in groups of 5 with 4 lines plus a scratch. I think that's how it works.

But never, ever ever, stop Epic while downloading ED. I did for my Alt, and it downloads half the game again, 32 GB currently 🍻

AX combat as buggy if not more so than before U15, AX combat difficulty level way up, in fact its bordering on impossible\insane now whereas it was an enjoyable challenge, hydras appear during CZ progress not at the end (is this suppose to happen?), no energy surge warnings so you are open to attack a lot more as you tumble around endlessly, scouts do a lot more damage and there are a lot of them, they seem to spawn in groups and attack in numbers, the new fighter goid is interesting at least, you can get constant "decontamination limpet failed" messages and I mean constant for several minutes, go into open and you are in one CZ instance, back to main menu because the progress bar does not actually progress, back into open and you are in another CZ instance with a different bunch of cmdrs at a different level of progress, calling it a night, may go back to bgs stuff or space trucking while AX gets sorted, anyone else have observations on AX combat in U15?

Never play on patch day and just let the dust settle. Scouts were always too easy anyway, and the rest FD can adjust server-side, just as they did with U14. For the energy surge thing, listen to audio. The Thargoids scream immediately before the surge is released.

If it all stayed the same with each update, we would all get fat, and most of us got billions of credits. Give it a fews days and let it grow on you. Or that's what I do.

Are the scouts hitting harder now? At least it was my impression being hyperdicted while taking my seldom used AX clipper into Tharanis.

They hit much harder and more often now - seems their aim is improved. At the one ground CZ I played around at last night I had the impression their numbers were also doubled; I had between four and eight on my tail pretty much at all times. Also, they seemed to decimate the NPC pilots alot more, at the CZ last night, at some point, there were only two green blips left while I was surrounded what felt like twelve red ones shooting at me.

Question is if it is indended that way (which would be fine by me) or if it is a slip up that the Scouts got a massive buff.

Thankfully the opposite 😁

(Codex and Squadron screens caused massive almost whiteout brightness like suddenly having a chat with God or something. Not pleasant on the eyes!)

In case you don't know: The background is blindingly bright when you open the codex, to a level of headache inducing if you read the codex for extended periods of time. It is a big thing. Big. Big, big big. As is the very annoying head position in the shipyard. I secretly hope this bugfix also fixes the suit cosmetics screen, where your suit is about 40 meters behind you.
changing the default cameras x,y,z position and the brightness of a screen is what I would consider big VR improvements.
I've used VR from day 1 and a) never noticed the codex was too bright and b) I actually quite liked seeing the ship from the inside, you got to see some interesting structures that you wouldn't normally see. Neither issue has improved ED in VR for me, not one little bit.

Any other features discovered (other than being able to see whats in the Maelstrom, and having those Thargoid drone thingys hanging about)?

I found a great feature!

I went to power on a settlement where those drones were reported and coming under heavy fire before I could land.

However, the nifty feature was having all my controls and power blown offline which left me free to glide into the nearest mountain range. It was fun - here's a pic taken just before I started pushing up the daisies and visiting the big rebuy screen in the sky:
