I think it's possible we may have to transition between the "onepointfive" dimension as well before we are able to fully plunge into "twopointnaught," no?

From MB's Dev update about "The Missing".

Putting on my story hat for a moment the sharp eyed amongst you have noticed a story in GalNet about ‘The Missing’. In brief The Missing is an encompassing term for everyone who has disappeared without trace in deep space. This includes colonists on the ancient generation ships, lost colonies, disappeared scientific expeditions and a host of others. Some will know from our timeline that many thousands of ‘generation ships’ left the safety of Earth beginning in the 24th century onwards, and headed out into what was then largely unknown – with just some data from probes to guide them. The process was completely unregulated, and many were not as well prepared as they should have been. In those days when faster-than-light communication didn’t exist, many of these potential settlers faced terrible risks alone, travelling thousands of light years into the black, not unlike the wagon trains that set out across continental US in the 18th and 19th centuries before them. Not all were successful at founding new worlds. Most were not. Some managed to return with tails of their adventures. Some were lost in deep space, the dead hulk of their ship carrying on an almost endless trajectory ever deeper into space. Others managed to land and survived for many decades before being overtaken by some local disaster. Some may still be alive, just restricted to low power light speed communications, or no comms at all, as their equipment has failed over the centuries in between. We say they have disappeared without trace, but just maybe some will find some traces of them that are still out there…

The plight of The Missing is just one of the things that will become more prominent over the coming year and the Commanders of the Pilots Federation will be pivotal in solving these mysteries. You can expect more news on this soon!

Must be related to the UA, right?

Both happen at the same time. 2.0 players get 2.0+1.5 and people that didn't buy 2.0 just get 1.5 they launch on the same day, December 15th

I remember other late galnet news about technical issues (or directly about UAs) were doubled. Today's tech issues news are tripled (3 copies of same news article) on galnet. Is it some sloppy work on part of news makers or is it a clue that Galnet was hacked by unknown artifact related entity?

Or it's just that I decided to take off my tinfoil hat for a bit in the shower?

Yes, I agree. What ever is in Merope is in some alternate dimension. Let's call that dimension "twopointnaught" and we are in the simple dimension of "onepointfour" perhaps the winter solstice will effect our fsd somehow, and when we jump into Merope around Christmas we will be able to do things we couldn't before!

Nice ;)

Apparently, I'm out of rep for you.

Interesting. We can call this event where our ships hop/cross over into the new dimension Cross-mass.

Hoppy Cross-mass everyone?

The Missing

Switching gear to the Missing discussion for just a second.

24th century meaning year 2500 onwards, meaning if those generation ships had C as their main speed restriction then you can expect that at C they'd be at most 800 LY out... so we have our own human shell from 0 to 800 LY from Sol to be looking for cool stuff (unless they ventured further due to some unforeseen mishap/accident/external intervention).

I see shells now.

seashells?

Water Worlds!?

EDIT: In classic Elite Lore generation ships were treated with utmost respect from the Elite Federation of Pilots and Galcop. ANY commander caught interfering with them would be punished... harshly. So lore confirmation #1

Lore Confirmation #2 (sorta)... in Frontier/FFE our hyperspace drives were so low-bid that nobody really tried going 700LY out until the Thargoid mission... The game itself limited you in that if you went too long without repairs your drive would break down and strand you somewhere if not blow you up outright....

Things are getting interesting. Somehow I feel that the UA mystery, The Missing, The Thargoids and potentially Ai are all interconnected in a weave of mystery and danger.... you know what I say with those two you get the third which is REWARD.

I'm onboard

the solution could also be to just stop selling the ua´s. not a practical solution either... we can´t control what every pilot does...

I was thinking we could call it "Cookieland". <ducks/>

Edit: Or "Biscuitspace"
