UA Mystery thread 4 - The Canonn

Free to do it, but a ship did just spelled MEROPE in the meantime.
Typical non-scientific behavior: when people do not understand something, it's a bug (ghosts, UFOs, Poltergeist, and so on) ;)
Enjoy.

P.S. I don't mean it couldn't be a bug, but we have to do science first.

I'm a scientist but also pragmatic. The thing is I don't see any reason to exclude some ships from this..... adventure...

EDIT: Anyway I'll follow your progression with a close eye since I can't take part to this and really hope for you that it is not a bug.

EDIT2: I'll be happy to be wrong BTW.

Yes, my T7 was armed as well yesterday, 4 pulses. But perhaps there is a threshold? I mean perhaps Class 1 is not seen as a threat?
It's unlikely, but still a possibility....

I think there is a very real possibility that ship loadout may have something to do with behavior of certain elements in the game including the UA.. I noticed this yesterday. I've been hauling UA's too and from the spawn location with my unarmed Asp... nothing.... now that it's fully loaded with weapons and defensive systems suddenly I start getting interdicted on the way into the bubble. Something's up with it.

I WENT BACK IN TIME, to the 8th of October, when we were finding the new MORSE sequences, but we didn't know what it was about.
I've found lots of recordings, of UA jettisoned in space.

here 9 recordings from CMDR marx:
https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=175726&page=466&p=2910742&viewfull=1#post2910742

I've decoded the morse produced by JETTISONED UAs, and it's always picturing an Anaconda. So the Anaconda could be ruled out.
So it's not about mass then.

Actually, a recording of Asp, DBX, Vulture, Anaconda all totally UNARMED and no Utilities, together with a jettisoned UA, could be very useful to rule out this.
I plan to do the DBX next evening.

VERY INTERESTING:

In this old video simulacrae did (UAs sacrifices in Thompson Dock), made very close to the station, with lots of UAs and lots of ships passing by, he is in a DBX, Derthek is in an Asp, and one of the UAs is drawing an Anaconda...

So is this a mass thing, does the DBX and an ASP add up to an Anaconda.
That would mean that its not producing a picture of what its scanning but what it assumes it is seeing.

So, could it be messaging what it considers most dangerous? If it was a sentry/watchdog unit that would make sense, and align to the shell theory well.

Edit: Forgot to add perhaps the Anaconda is in the dock.

Don't think so: there were so many ships around, and the two guys were far from the UA ~250mt.
So perhaps the UA was scanning just the closest ship, that was casually an Anaconda.

Ah! I found also a 9 min video of CMDR Silent Pact, spelling the drawing of a Python. So for now we can rule out it as well. For now.
I'll give priority to the transport ships, and then to unarmed ships as well.

I'm still looking for a recording of a Cobra, I'm sure it was already made here...

I would imagine that someone already tried it but has anyone ever tried to flash their ship lights in morse code to send the same message that is broadcasted by the UA?

Ah ok, well looks like loots of ship and UA swapping up ahead all fun :)

That's me in the asp ;) it wasn't supposed to be a sacrifice... I'm just bad at teh scoopz.

Ooooh!

What if the UA is now (again) morsing (is that a word?) the body name so that we could find something?

Would make sense to show something like say, a homeworld, only to something non-threatening...

Someone please to test with hauler also.

And yes, it was done few times. But you can try it again for sure! :D

Yes Hauler and Adder my next bets, on my list for next evening tests, together with an unarmed DBX.

Shoot at station! With Heatsink -> hostile

- - - Edit - - - CMDR NILREB was definitely wrong with this, sorry for the blabber:

Opened a ticket, Video link to T7 destruction now on YouTube https://youtu.be/c2E9b0oiBCQ Drop box does not like too much traffic !
I will move all my Vids to YouTube now I have it set up
..
Going back to sulking in may Lavian brandy and eating secret stash of chocolate hob knobs.... Honest Zoltan the door was open !

Greetings CMDR(s)!
Sorry to bring you the bad news as it seems no one is aware of this (was unable to see first link but yet this youtube video):

You simple shoot at the station! Hardpoints (against station warning :D) and the you deployed-> shoot the station.

And you hit :D (with delay, heatsink may hit the end inner wall of station at a few hundred meters behind you)
For this case faction "The Canonn" has given clear orders! No exception for council members
Has nothing to do with the ramming ... There was only the fines. But the shoot has turn you hostile.

We salute you!

And a extra big salute for all the latest big progress to all involved CMDR's!

Edit 06.XI.3301 for adjustment
CMDR NILREB was wrong! Message about "bounty for murder" also came up.
Thanks to RedWizzard to look again and sorry to Delmonte for my blabber. Seems my eyes are not fast enough any more ...

I'm assuming this can be rapidly eliminated - but just in case:

If a UA has been in a system and broadcast a name for a certain length of time (long enough to be received by whoever), it switches to its second (ship drawing) mode. But if it is taken to a system/station where it hasn't been before it reverts to the name mode...

It's probably worth going by the assumption that these are extremely unsophisticated machines and aren't going to respond to attempts at contact. But equally, it's plausible that they may have a further behaviour mode, which kicks in after the first two....

I have gone in and out of stations hundreds of time smuggling rare's etc, it has nothing to do with weapons, there was no fine for deploying hard points
I don't even have weapons fitted !. I always use 2 heat sinks out and 2 in never a problem I have even used limpest inside a station ! again never an issue
