The Poi spawn while normal flying over the surface of a planet, but above 2Km height. Below, they fade than disappear (at 1.5Km), and you have to find them yourself. If big enough (crash sites, bases) you'll see them from your ship, eventually. Otherwise (Outcrops, materials) you'll have to land and deploy your SRV to look for them with the scanner.

Ok. It plainly states that the Meta-Alloys are found in 'Space'. :/
But maybe if we find the Meta-Alloys, the nearby planet may have a Barnacle?

Cant seem to delete photo. See my next post for a better infographic...

I've been following these megathreads from about thread 2, and while I haven't contributed myself, I've been paying close attention.
Previous discussions often led to significant discoveries, while this one seems to have hit the limit of what can be discovered with the information/hints supplied so far.

Just reading people's observations, almost hearing the mental gears grinding in people's heads was fantastic. New discoveries! New clues!
Feels like nothing much has happened lately, and we're here now, grasping at straws, debating space-barnacles.
Am I wrong about this? Or, has the hint/discovery-flow become a pool of tinfoilery and unconfirmable speculation?
(I apologize if this seems like complaining/whining- I'm just trying to see if I'm wrong, or if nothing much really has happened since the discoveries of early 1.4).

I have great respect for all the excellent, sometimes mindboggling, insight the Canonn has provided. Some people are just nuts (geniuses)!

"appear to be common in certain parts of space", so guess it's not in Merope then, so maybe looking for another sphere somewhere? Assuming these are related to UA

Ahhh so these moaning rocks we've been shooting for resources.. Are the meta-alloys. ...... Makes sense I guess

...and of course if the large barnacles are alien base structures, that allows for "stupid humans are attacking us! this means war!" :)

I think the Meta-Alloys are different. They are a commodity that can be sold and are found in space, not on the surface of planets. (i think)

Surely there would be some sort of shift by a major power to want ownership and control of a mystery that the entire Galaxy is affected by. I believe we are searching for an outpost or settlement that has been taken over by nefarious means on a planets surface. Somewhere far from the main star of the system and on the dark side of the planet. And also knowing FD's love of leaving clues in their trailers the possibility that other clips in the trailer may have been intended as clues also.

Speaking of settlements and FD dropping clues in trailers... Many of the Horizons sneak peak videos were shot in 49 Arietis, some of them at settlements. Has anyone checked out the landable bodies in affected systems like 49 and 64 Arietis, particularly the one featured in all those sneak peaks?

I'm currently drifting like a loon pottering about in my home system learning buggy racing driving and trying to figure out how to use the wave scanner. Being mostly deaf in one ear is not helping. Once I'm happy with my skills I'll go check out 49 & 64 Arietis if no one else has.

Or maybe we haven't been given the mechanism to transport them whole yet and thus we are just left breaking them down to their constituent parts to feed our srv

Good thought. Also, there were some of Braben's sneak peaks that got cut off early so they didn't spoil anything. Worth checking those locations.
