Given the way the pre-shell UA stuff went (and even the shell itself), I'd say it's implemented, there's just no breadcrumbs to follow and have just been placed in some arbitrary area, and it's a bad mechanic.

Given the average 3 months between new elements to the story, I'd expect FD to let us stumble around blindly for a while more before we get another clue - maybe Palin will have another CG when that base opens up.
Why did anyone come up with the idea that it would be hot worlds the said "Barnacles" would appear? read "Drew Wagners" defintive info on the Thargoids theory, you do know there is or was 3 alien races implemented. erm...
The Thargoids can survive under -33 and not cooler , more than humans... also if you read up a good , place to land is, if you find the holy grail of meta-alloys let us all know : Ross 154.
Why? well in the lore "Merlin" was the planet the Empire, Federation, and Alliance, plus other parties met with agents from Thargoids.
Merlin is unlandable, it is Ammonia, but the other planets are landable, typically, the planet called "Dust Bowl" and yes it is in the region around SOl....
I have been up and down the galaxy, seen all poi's some strange and seen all manner of waves on the srv scanner, I have collected all materials, some are V rare to say the least.
Just a heads up, if you get to a poi and is guarded, or any poi , don't log out and in, it de-spawns even if you are on top of it......(farming blocked)
In my opinion, after a huge amount of hours in the love buggy lol, yep it bounces the hell out of me and I see rocks when asleep lol, the Barnacles spawn is not working... or it is the needle in the universe puzzle, we need more info.
The video trailer, it is not so clear cut.. it is a advert for Horizons and the seasons to come... the "green black glowing thing" ( which we believe is Barnacles) see what I did there ? spelling mistake, or teaser for the new year? could be a alien base in the next Horizons expansion........

The Meta-alloy will be found and I bet the thing is not seeded yet..... after over 240 hours all over the verse you bet it is not seeded. ie a funk up...

Well... who said that the Barnacles are Thargoid? No one.
They are just Barnacles, for now. And the Meta-Alloys that comes from them, are highly resistant to heat. That's what took some of us to think that hot planets could be a thing. That, and the greenish Hot B Star-like look in the trailer.
Not much, I agree. But "not much" is what we have now.
That said, I tend to "feel" the same as you, about finding them. But it's too early to give up, IMO.

this seems to be the only route directly through the taurus dark region nebula, there are no stars in it ,but i want to be in it!
I'm pointing at the nebula toward the star , stats read 26.9ly to star 5.2d. I'm travelling at 1,886c
The nebula is about half way that distance to the point of entry.
So what i'm asking is , will i actually get there, is the nebula a real thing that i will fly through if i keep going in a straight line...(or is it a backdrop). am i always gonna be stuck within the bounderies of hw-w c1
the numbers are decreasing the longer i sit here but ,i didnt know wether anyone else had had the patience to try going from one system to another via supercruise.

Oberheim, if you use 1-2 tons/h, you may see that you'll run out of fuel flying for 'days'.
2 tons/h, 32 tons fueltank gives you about 16h supercruising. You may extent the range by turning off all you modules which is not required, the power generator uses less fuel if you do so.

Yes they are almost being as random as USS, they are not persistent. They will even regenerate (to a new type) if you move far enough out of the zone and go back again.
They are being generated on the fly while they are outside your radar-range, the type is being decided before you get there.

But I do wanna test a theory , to see if the meta alloys are related to our ranks in exploration trading and combat so there is that ...
About 155m credits will do it. Apparently distance travelled in an srv will shorten this, but nobody has any idea by how much, it isnt expected to be a big effect. I don't recommend it, but the shortcut is to go and farm the neutron fields. Head over to the exploration forums for more assistance.
the answer is no you will not make it there. the "travel time" will decrease as your speed increases, however you will never make any headway on the actual distance and even if you're there through flight time, nothing will show up because of the way instancing is done. While it would be pretty neat to do that, as present it cannot be done.
This is as long as nothing on how instancing is done had been changed. Good luck though.
Took a break from the fireworks CG to hunt AI relics again, found another but it was a police trap and a conda body checked my python while scanning me and the canister got destroyed in the scuffle.
It's almost like FDev doesn't want me to get one to bond hub. *adds more layers to the tinfoil sombrero*

I too i' m loosing patience in finding the barnies, but on a side note we can also stumble on abandoned pre FTL human settlements and generation ships. Maybe all that is linked in a way we don' t understand yet.

So i was observing a UA and another ship arrived, a Cobra MK4, the pilot had an odd sounding name i must admit. I wanted to try and give the UA a occopied escape pod and see if anything happened, so i was supprised when i was scanned by another ship all the sudden. Has anyone experienced this before?
