awww thanks ! Ya ive made too many of these things... so here is a start :) http://canonn.science/2016/01/16/outdated-research-archive/

Going on the FP soon.

You guys can join our instance if you want we have 2 PVP Corvettes on anchor. I already took care of the 1 cutter who was ganking earlier. Just msg me for nav lock beacon and I'll wing anchor or come on reddit feds TS I don't mind sitting there to prevent gankers.

Snall update on the current security levels: Maia and Merope were being patrolled by about a dozen Cmdrs, both in SC, surface level and at the station. It's probably the safest part of space right now. :p

Thanks CMDRs!
In the meantime, my four railed Asp Scout has been stuck to the tail of a couple of those gankers as well ;)

I guess this is aimed at my last post. Fair point about exactly what MB said. He didn't say they originated from a nebula only that it related to their origin. I wasn't trying to spread misinformation only putting forward my own thoughts.

However what he said was:

"I'm afraid not - the nebula that they can be found in relates to their origin and I can't talk about that."

The interesting thing now I read it again is that he a said "the nebula" which makes it sound like there is only one other nebula. This was an answer to someone asking about other nebula that they can be found in.

The issues is earlier he mentione nebulae, so we are stuck now without confirmation on whether nebulae was incorrect and it is indeed nebula, but he has not commented on that.

I and my wing man have had some very strange goings on in our ships, I went out to Merope 5C yesterday in my ASP I spent a good few hours hunting and dropping in on the coordinates that had been posted apart from the Connda crash site which I didn't have time to have a look at, on my 5 hour hunt I did not find any Barnacles so set off back to home base MMU Lembava. I winged up with my wing man and did a bit of res bounty hunting before writing up my log for the day.

Today I winged up with my wing man to do a bit of mining in GCRV 1568 in my Corvette and my wing man in his brand new Python, I am a very experienced miner in the trade.

First noticed something strange when mined shards would be left and could not be collected with my high power A5 collectors at very close range (250m) after a few roids my scanner was full from 2 ships worth of non collectable shards, although my wing man could not see any! (thinking this was a bug I logged out and back in with the same results) after a few more mined roids my wing man started to see what I was seeing, we made a decision to unload our cargo I had around 250t with a checked amount of 48 Platinum and 6 ton of Painite and my wing man with 4 ton of Painite before we jumped I rechecked my cargo and my Painite had disappeared, we jumped to our unload station and when I had landed my cargo had dropped to 215 ton and my pre checked cargo of Platinum had dropped to 32 ton from an original tonnage of 48 ton. My wing man also lost 2 ton of Painite.

I have no explanation to what I have just see other than my visit to Merope, I have sent my wing man out on a solo mining run to see if he has been affected, before I do another mining run. Updates to follow.

UPDATE
More strange things happening, on our second mining expedition we stayed in wing formation and I sent my wing man out on his own, he makes the trip over to our chosen area with his moderately kitted Python running an 85% deployed module build he lines up on his first roid and deploys a prospecting limpet at the roid and immediately starts to over heat, I am sat in the station watching my wingman panel and thinking he has been attacked, I watch in horror as his shield go down then his hull and finally a destruction notice, I am glad in the year 3302 we have a very good cloning system in place to re clone my lost wing man.

It does not stop there though on our 3rd mining run we think with the heat of his ship at some 400c and it's lose we have both come out of this debilitating virus, but after a great haul of materials from the ring we get ready to drop off out cargo, as we boost out of the mass of the planet his cargo hold opens and dumps all his cargo into space some 160 ton's, with my wing man having no collector limpets I do my best to collect as much of the cargo as I can before they expire.

If he has silent running and jettison all cargo bound to keys (which you do by default) then I suggest he unbinds them! Sounds like that's what's happened here. If he isn't smuggling or pretending to be a rock the he doesn't need silent running as a hotkey.

If you hit it by mistake and don't notice it get pretty warm pretty quickly.

Cmdr, I think it's time we tell you something.
The truth is that... there is no Wingman, from the begining. From the whole time you've been alone.

Sorry, space madness can be a :):):):):), but trust me we'll do anything we can to heal you.

Agreed on all counts. I also caught that he used the singular form of nebula, but as he had already specifically hinted at the Pleiades, I have mostly convinced myself that he made a grammatical error.

You are also correct on the Pleiades as merely travelling through the nebula. But Orion is a similar cluster that is also in a nebula and may be what the symbol points to. Seems a decent enought guess at the moment. Unless we want to assume that the cluster is important and backtrack it. It's actually moving really fast. It's one of the reason that I visited it on the way to see 53 Arietis, AE Aurigae and Mu Columbae way back on my first exploration trip. I was hunting wandering stars (those three were all ejected from Orion 2 million years ago).

Well I decided to start heading off in that direction now, Talking about it just got me exited :). I have done around 30 jumps and am amazed that all the star systems and planets so far all been discovered. There must be thousands of combinations of stars that I could have stopped at on route. I expected all systems in the actual nebula to be discovered but I was hoping that maybe one or two on the way might have allowed me first discovery on some of the planets. I suppose it goes to show how many people are actually in the game now exploring these areas.

I wish I was in this instance, just as I left, my wingmate tells me about the griefer being back attacking him

Thank you for digging out that post. I don't see a problem with MB's use of plurals. He was talking about finding them in multiple nebulae on that post. But on the other post he was referring to a single nebula when he talked about having links to their origins. So I think it still stands that he might be saying that there are only two nebulae with them in the Pleiades and the one that has something to do with the origin.

Just some food for thought here since I've seen it often suggested that we may be angering the Thargoids by destroying what is likely their property. They can scan our ships, they know we are here. The alien objects have all been centered around Merope as the core and it's extremely close to the bubble we occupy. They aren't here for research, there is an invasion coming and they've set everything up at a strategical position to do so. To go further off of this we know the UA's do something but what that is we still aren't sure, but it' suspected they are involved in damaging stations, whereas with barnacles we know they are producing meta-alloys, which in turn have seemingly healed damaged stations.

So what if the UA's were left for us to find and distribute among our stations like a virus that will corrode our primitive tech, weakening us for an attack whilst the barnacles are grown in the nearby nebulae to provide resources or even pre-made outposts as a series of forward operating bases from their superior tech that is immune to the effect of the UA's. The thing I can't work into the theory is why they would place the UA's around Merope rather than Sol or why they would point to Merope.

Location of all this happening though has me readily convinced that this is an invasion in the works either way. Obviously this is just ramblings and opinion.

I'm a little late to the party. But I've signed up on the Cannon site and looked through it and this thread and I can't find where to join an organized effort. I.e. you search here cause we've already searched there

I'm here:
Merope 5 C (-25.34),(158.48)

But I don't see anything....

I suspect the initial report was wrong, it was typed in a very strange coord format aka Merope 5 C -25.34 - 158.48
I'm adding a minus to the long:-158.58
I hope that's correct.

------
People, please make sure you help us get the right place.
Sorry to say, there some badly formatted data here, and we miss out on some locations.
Altough we're very happy to see all reports, especially you who willingly share your images as ell, it's quite helpful.
Thanks :)

To help us getting it right:
1. Please don't forget the PLANET NUMBER/LETTER. It's so easy to miss and we're really louse at guessing.
Check your SYSTEM-MAP or you NAVIGATION TAB, use the full designation pretty please.

2. Please use at least 2 decimals in your coords.
Please NEVER use "-" (a dash) when typing coords unless you mean MINUS. Please use COMMA as a SEPARATOR in posts here.
Bad example: -13,26
Bad example: -13.88 - 26.12
Good example: -13.88,26.12 or (-13.8812),(26.1241)

We had some entries we just had to delete, because there was not enough data to find it again.
Thanks for understanding.

I believe that Weyn dock is one of the afflicted systems. The shipyard might be shutdown?
You are absolutley correct, sorry about that CMDR & good eye.

Okay checked against the list of affected stations & the 2 closest stations with shipyards are:
HIP 18843 [Alexander Freeport] is 194.73 Ly away from the Maia system
HIP 19157 [MacLeod Horizons] is 201.14 Ly away from the Maia system

BTW, in case anyone was curious (couldn't see anything about it on the first page), there's nothing unique about the destruction of meta alloys, blows up like just another cargo pod.

Also, surprisingly boring canister when jetted in space:

Also, be careful about where you sell Meta Alloys. I nearly clicked OK and then noticed this....
