Ok guys I think its a matter of finding the right quadrant !

Thanks to old Omar K we use line segments to solve cubic equations .... RRline is ONE segment Im putting my money on QUATOR/QUBE as being the other segment
We need to solove for the equation .... or maybe Ridequat/Qube ....

Undying gratitude and biscuts if you can help ... im going to bed ;)

talking a little bit seriously now.

as someone just said in a previous post the barnacle layout also recalls the voyager 2 golden record sign

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/5/59/VgrCover.jpg

''the diagram defines the location of our sun utilizing 14 pulsars of know directions from our sun
the binary code defines the frequency of the pulses
''

shouldn't we use that same approach to find a possible location ?

I am trying to do just that with ALL stars however:
The coding is proving to be harder to write than I thought, especially with actually playing the game
It VERY hard to test as it is looking for something. I will need to invent a false positive to check, and even that is tricky
The EDSM dataset is the best data available, it is only 150,000 systems out of 4 Billion, so the chances of the systems being in the dataset is tiny
150,000 Targets with 150,000 Possible Star #1 gives 22,500,000,000 combinations to check. My first trial with an untested program looked like 30 days to run.

If you fancy just trying Pulsars, help yourself, should be a pretty easy manual process, but Pulsar isnt a very ED thing, they are just regular NS

all those discussions about the barnacle morse code etc ... etc...
couldn't be a simple frequency that is related to the pulsars ?
couldn't be a data that leads us to some location of stars ?

I'm not at home so I can't check it by myself at this moment, but in the image of the barnacle seems to be two outer spikes very close. Do they fit in any way (setting rotation and scale) with Bovomit Sector and Sidgoir Sector?

I think that if they really point something they aren't pointing something as dificult to find as a single star system. I put my two cents on sectors, permit regions, clusters, etc.

Here's one orientation using the mirrored Barnacle overlay:

I'll leave this to someone with better image manipulation tools to refine, and produce the counterpart with the overlay rotated 180 degrees ish.

It may be the way I'm looking at it, but it seems to me like the barney in you picture is rotating in the opposite direction to the galaxy. You might want to try a mirror image & see if that fits.

Why do I even bother? :headdesk:

Look, it's really not difficult to understand. The Milky Way galaxy looks like it does in the image from above. From below, it largely looks the same, but mirrored. People have been overlaying the map of the Barnacle spikes on the picture of the Milky Way from above. From above has been done already in this thread, and people are exploring that. I seem to be the only one pushing for also exploring the possibility that the overlaying should also be done from the point of view from below. So I posted one overlay from below.

It's called 'exploring all the possibilities'. If you want an analogy, people are looking for the square root of 81, and they've completely ignored -9.

I would point out that Bond Hub never had Repairs.
I used Bond as my UA Holding Base for a while, had to fix everything with my AMFU, and when that was out of ammo, refit it with a different Class.

Ah right - thanks - I guess could've checked what the system map said was offered there versus the facilities when docked.

I'm blaming Goemon though. For many things ;)

Teflon Shoulders of Command eh ? ;)

Must say its all bit crappy that when we do the thing they keep asking us to do, and actually achieve something, they say nothing at all and we have to infer that it has been done and not a typo.
How about a "Canonn Repair Station" Galnet (and not one we have to submit ourselves)

Hi Sim, willing to help but...     am I looking at ?
I don't understand anything and googling Omar K and RRline gives me a Perse philosopher a make-up product line...
Kinda lost here :S

Guys, bit o/t but FD opened a question topic to prepare the thursday live streaming event on 2.1 countdown.
Feel free to go there and ask stuff, i couldn't resist myself to ask if Palin was going to be an Engineer ;)

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=243802

There was a Galnet article that basically said Palin was going to be an engineer.

https://community.elitedangerous.com/galnet/uid/5706346c9657ba431760adb9

"I fully intend to continue researching the Unknown Artefacts and meta-alloys, albeit in a more inconspicuous fashion, at my personal research centre on Maia A 3 a. Those who wish to visit me there are very welcome to do so. There is nothing I enjoy more than spending time with those who share my interests!"

I don't think they could have made that any more clear while still staying in character. :)

The UAs only spawn 130-150ly ish from Merope, in a shell that's only 10-20 ly thick.

I was merely highlighting the earlier work missing out half of the combinations available using their logic.

Is 135-150, fyi. I don't think there's any reports to date under 135. Not being a pedant, just trying to save time fort people searching under 135 and finding nothing :)

TY :)
That was not that clear for me when reading this GalNet, but someone answered me on the question topic with a quote even clearer :
"Professor Ishmael Palin has announced his intention to retire from the research institute he founded last year. In a statement, the professor said he plans to set up a modest research centre on Maia A 3 a, where he will offer a range of engineering services."

so, theoretically Palin is bald....

Hi guys - sorry Ive been living with this for a bit too much and not explaining it ... here is my attempt
Wall of text in spoiler
Starting with Lewis Carol and Anagram Puzzles. I think Drew is using Alliteration ( repeating of first letters and vowel harmony) as well as An Action Verb as a key (suggesting violence needs to be done to the associated words) The names of characters in the Galnet seem to be popular locations. EDIT - ACK The Memoria Technica Cipher is probably a good thing to check the text with if we are looking for coordinates !

Example:
Three anagrams of the Liberal Party Leader:William Ewart Gladstone
"A wild man will go at trees"
"Wild agitator! Means well"
Wilt tear down all images?"

Its can be a good way to hide a message in a letter without obvious gibberish text Here is a paper on Lewis Carol ciphers

Drew seems to be a fan of the double meaning (we need to read between the lines)

Starting with the now imfamous rot13/ROC right on commander puzzle
I think he was just trying to introduce the idea that messages will be encoded in things such as GalNet

Also: ROC could also be a hint at turning Right on C from the RR line to the CC line ....

Ok Galnet (Just some samples)

Starting with the first post FEB9
Courts Controversy - A synonym for Court is: Quad

17MAR
repeating of Jumped up followed by: Imperial prima donna / A minor dipper animal
Kahina Overbearing ...

20MAR
Deano Blake, a trader / Ladon Drake at Bear

27MAR
Petty minded procrastinators / petty-minor procrastinate-drag Minor Dragon

02AAPR
I dont like to be late ... Lewis Carol reference - also a hint at the importance of the date (vernal equinox)

21JUL
Kazien Vantris – Nirvana eKzists - Im just going to say here that I think Drew is drawing on Oolite and especially the Alien Encounters anthology particularly the “Schism” storyline

10AUG
perfects primes and factors … a reference to cubic equations and a hidden location…

Salome letter on COR Page
turmoil – of great galactic / Rift egg at Cloaca

Salome Expedition Chat
“I have loved the stars too fondly to be fearful of the night.” reference to Old Astronomer Poem … which is about Omar Khayam
Who wrote nice poetry was an astronomer and a mathematician … solution of cubic equations through line segments

Still not totally seeing the link to the Draco hints ( Lets just say I visited Dracos Cloaca last night
Dark Circle ? :)

)

Havent gotten to figuring out the equation yet but I imagine its pointing to the Core …

Hope this helps to explain some of my rambling comments lately ;)

will leave you with a little of old Khayam

There was a Door to which I found no Key:
There was a Veil past which I could not see:
Some little Talk awhile of ME and THEE
There seemed---and then no more of THEE and ME.

Myself when young did eagerly frequent
Doctor and Saint, and heard great Argument
About it and about: but evermore
Came out by the same Door as in I went.

With them the Seed of Wisdom did I sow,
And with my own hand labour'd it to grow:
And this was all the Harvest that I reap'd---
"I came like Water, and like Wind I go."

ps: found the missing
