UI Hell in 3.3

Might be at work... Didn't he claim to be a senior developer with 30 years experience? Or was that someone else? It gets so confusing in these threads sometimes.

You might be right, I honestly thought this thread was going on for a LOT longer than it actually has been.

Right. I refer to the color changing mechanism as an undocumented feature (simply because that is what it called in software engineering land). So how is the above any different from what I say?

You are right that it is an undocumented feature, that's not what's causing OPs issue though because the issue doesn't exist and is only imagined. If it doesn't exist it cannot be caused by anything.

Lol, no that was someone else :D

Fair enough...
To be honest, this forum is so full of the elite of software experts who specialise in games, that I'm surprised that FDev haven't offered them all jobs. This game could be orders of magnitude more realistic and updates released every week if they employed them all.

I wonder sometimes if they're the same experts that are apparently working on Star Citizen... (at least the creators claim to have hundreds of the best of the best in multiple studios working on it)

I think I'm starting to realize why OP isn't among us anymore :D

Btw, I don't blame the feature, OP is to blame for using it.

I have a better question:

Where the hell did the OP go? He was talking a lot until someone pointed out that the colors are correct. Unless I just missed him.

I'm still here, was just busy then sleeping! I fully accept that I am wrong if indeed the colors are intentionally this way. I didn't realise the orange area in my screenshot is in fact blue without color override set.

Yeah I figured that was the case after I went back and realized this was posted yesterday XD. I blame my weird work and sleeping schedule.

You've modded the game. Don't complain about QC.

If you took a £500 pair of designer black jeans and bleached them white, are they now inferior jeans or the same jeans, just white?

Altering the numbers for the colours in the UI is the least form of "modding" one can do, yet because the UI colours were arbitrarily chosen by FDev and they could just as easily have been white, or blue, or pink or magenta or taup, or teal, or crimson, or aubergine or, or, or, or..... it has NO IMPACT OR BEARING on how well the code was written, so your comment is little more than a standard "you broke it, not FDev" white knight defenders response.

So lets get down to the point shall we?

Why are only some of the UI elements controlled by that file? It's supposed to be a GLOBAL settings file, my only conclusion is someone at FDev either forgot to link it to the global settings file, or made that UI as a separate entity for no logical reason and it's just another case of bloatware.

People keep screaming about SC and the time it's taking, but this sort of issue highlights why building unified sections that link correctly and ensuring ONE global change filters down to EVERYTHING attached to it, instead of having to chase down all iterations like some manic pacman is a good thing.

You sleep?
And I thought you were dedicated...

Bah, amateurs. ;)

Lets hold hands and sing kumbaya :D

+rep, didn't expect that. You can't just be wrong on the internet, that's not how it works. This needs to be discussed!

Ha :)

Well I am the first to admit I am wrong when I am wrong, which is usually the case!

I do think it's a bit of a strange choice of colours, even without the override set

It was juat a jarring for me in the default colors as its a different shade of blue than everything else Im used too. Really grabs your attention.
