Wiki admin here! Since the new thread we've gotten a lot of new content on the Unknown Artefact article, great!

Well there's two spellings depending on which side of the pond you are on Artefact/Artifact .......it's right for me but thought you may have meant that.

In fact looking at the wiki we are using BOTH spellings

On the wiki, we should be using artefact on the articles. This is just to be consistent with the in-game text and not to cause confusion, but redirect pages of alternate spellings can be created.

This thread and the previous one us packed with info and ideas, keep them coming, but its tricky to stay on top of, so I'd like to take this opportunity to encourage folks to read and contribute to the new wiki, it'll be much easier to track progress and theories there than a forum thread.

I can't stress this enough. There is always a limitation with the forum and that is that the original post containing all the information, such as current community goals, celestial object data or in this case, about the Unknown Artefact, is only something moderators or OP can edit. On the wiki anyone can contribute and add to content to an article and it is also better for people searching on search engines. If you feel like something could be done or shown in a better way I do take the suggestions and try to provide something out of it.

Regarding Morse code....why would an alien race be using Morse code? Doesn't anybody realize how ridiculous that is? Haha

I was having a conversation with a community mod in the ED subreddit, and he was dropping hints that Thargoids use an octal number system, not a decimal (because Thargoids have 8 fingers or are octopodes or something?).

So any findings should probably be translated to a base-8 number system.

It's been asked several times. Perhaps they're relaying human signals (the Nav beacons all emit morse code)? Perhaps they're trying to communicate with us in one of our own languages/codes?
Or perhaps Frontier realised if they spoke to us in Thargoid, this thread is going to need a LOT more pages..

Just wondering for the Wiki page if people who have had the UA (even for a short time) would like their names put on it as people to go to for information or help with UA things? As I'm trying to add some things to the page from here so we have more details in the wiki page from the forums as (I dare say) we may fill up this thread to 10k posts....

He could have been talking about listening to the people in Reddit or even listening to the chatter coming from the AI to help us FIND IT.


Speaking of that - does anyone have a copy of ALL the AI chatter coming from the T9 carrying the UA ?

If it was, then that is a convoy with a UA in it.

Also - looking at the route of the guys in the Wings Video - "California HW-W C1-7" to "LHS 3006" the Perseus Dark Region might be a starting point. Im sure that was searched - but I think I might go there myself for the fun of it (will have to wait as im verrry far away atm).

Yes , i believe it was after 1.3. I have been trying to recreate it no luck yet.

Yep that sure looks like it my plan is to wait for the escort to jump and attack the cargo vessel. Have not found one like that again though

Just a quick aside, I have updated the first couple of posts, feedback appreciated.

I have also put up an appeal for additional pilots to assist in the search. I am seriously considering setting up a new reward fund, thoughts on that idea anyone?

For those looking for the ua, here is the info on the two convoys.

Just a heads up guys if you are still hunting the unknown artefact.

There is actually two convoys that have it.

Convoy A is made up of numerous ships and includes a vulture, 2 anacondas, the type 9 and other ships.

If you get this one, bare in mind the type 9 will charge its fsd and jump out of the system on its own.



Convoy B is made up of 4 anacondas and the type 9

This convoy will stop in space for no reason and the anacondas will do a dance around the type 9.

It is also the one where the unknown artefact will eat its way out of the type 9's cargo hold with out you firing a shot.

I still think they are cute and would make great cabin pets..err.. sure, you would have to house train them as I understand that any "accidents" can eat through the carpet and ummm..the hull.
But just think, if they are halfway intelligent we could train them up as copilots for those long tedious hauls and for PP grinding merits as well of course.
