Hi first post here and about to start playing next week once i've built a pc. I have not read all the other and this thread but have read the summary.

Please correct me if this has already been tried (i have searched) but the first thing i would do is map where the UAs have been found, and then try and determine the centre or focal point. It seems to me that they are transmitting data back to somewhere central. Maybe whatever it is can be found by mapping out the centre. Sorry if im not making much sense but kids are creating havoc and i need to cut it short! Good luck Commanders and hope to join you in the fray soon.

Hi can you post in the open thread where one can find one of these Unknown Artefacts?

Ben, I believe you have to pirate a particular convoy in certain systems. The convoy is made up of a Federal Type 9 + escort. I am uncertain as to the locations...pretty sure one of them is permitted.

Edit: Ninja'ed

Hi welcome to the ED UA asylum.........I think that's been tried exhaustedly. ;)

The games great btw.......don't worry about us lot, oh unless ofcourse you've brought biscuits?

Oh yes, biscuits - I do believe that's the first mention in this version of the thread!

Choc chip shortbread. All the way.

It is inescapably vague, could be anything from a new kind of kettle to scratch-resistant marzipan and is really just added here as something that might be eliminated from proceedings without too much fuss or effort but...
Does anybody know if the Prototype Tech cannisters that can be nabbed from Weak Signal Sources have been tested? (Yes, I've been trawling the Wiki again between bouts in 109 Virginis again. What gave it away?)

Actually, forget that. Somebody mentioned biscuits. I haven't seen them on the Wiki but have Ritz been tried? I only ask because I've nearly noshed the entire pack and I don't know the respawn rate.

Has anyone sold these at a scientific outpost?

Nobody has confirmed doing this.
I took one to the scientific outpost at Peregrina looking for Bulletin Board missions but found nothing, didn't sell it there though.

<snip>
Theory two.

Has anyone looked at the dates, perhaps the convoys run on specific dates. More than once sightings have come in quick succession on the same day....like the finding of the first one. (Apologies if someone's thrown this one out there already I cant recall.)

So perhaps the more we have the harder they are to find, it would be an easy way of controlling how many are in game.........and the over complex formulaic approach would sound very FD, I mean look at the system for gaining combat ranks :D

I thought CMDR Branch's discussion of finding both of his at ~5am GMT, i.e. at low server population, was interesting and possibly more likely than them spawning on specific dates.

If a UA is in space and no CMDR is around to hear it, does it make a sound?

This is all getting very Zen.

Aye maybe.

I gotta say I find the selling an Leonard Nimoy pretty tenuous, If you've taken a trip to Cali 285 S HW-W C-17 (or whatever) it's pretty apparent that virtually every aspect of that video is "artistic license".

I think at this point, we're just throwing science at the wall to see what sticks.

If its good enough for spaghetti...

I don't think there has been a documented sale anywhere, has there?

Not as far as we are aware, although we're not necessarily abreast of all the UAs in existence, and given that it's worth quite a lot of money, I'd be quite surprised if it hadn't. If it was, either nothing happened or the seller didn't notice the free scanner upgrade in outfitting that suddenly was available. Or the balloons being released from the Starport ceiling.

Does the wiki need a biscuits section? Also, I'd posit that Ritz is no more a biscuit than a Jaffa cake. One is a cake, the other is a cracker.

Wrong again. Chocolate Hobnobs, everyone knows that.

(Is Biscuits is our secret signal to Michael to give us a nudge?)

Yeah, they changed the name of a random station to Leonard Nimoy station in honor of his death (in the patch notes) showing it in the trailer was likely just a nod to it. The trailer is to show off as many things as possible in a short time frame... I'm hesitant to think we should commit a UA to the theory. Selling it elsewhere though, for a better reason, would be interesting.

I and I Redeye said he sold a couple back before we knew what they were. I trust him.

His story checks out with posts he made on the forum before MB ever asked if we had listened to them.

If I remember correctly it was his post that MB was responding to. (If I'm not spacemad)

New ED-evening, new luck - what do we have now:
- the UA should be able to know when it is close to an otherwise invisible/unknown celestial object and propagate it's name
- one mysterious object we know of is Raxxla which is hidden
- all this is connected to the Dark Wheel
- the SAP8 contain crystals which are said to act like a map

... this is what I read from it at the moment and I think is by far the strongest lead we have...
