Update 14 and Beyond: Live and Legacy Modes

I wonder if the recent performance increases is due to dropping consoles?
I doubt, though even IF it is we've no way of knowing.

Moreso I'd like to think that the recent performance increase is a sign of much needed optimisation that might make a console release for Odyssey, 4.0 and "live" mode more likely and something that actually happens, sooner rather than later!

MAYBE after the release of Odyssey updates 15 and 16, which is all Frontier have mentioned right now, IF they leave Odyssey on PC in a state that the Devs are finally happy with, they'll turn their attention back to consoles (and PC 3.8 at that) 😯😀🤘

sure, they released ody for only PCs, ignored consoles, said "no more content for consoles" to finally "no CGs galnets and separated bgs" only to change their mind by 180*

Santa isn't real :p

Stranger things happen!
As we can only hope will happen here, once Odyssey is "finished"! 😯😂😀🤘

If that was so then this would have been shown last year when apparently Fdev stopped working on consoles?
You could say the drop of 3.8 increased the speed of 4.0 . But considering EDH 3.8 ran better than 4.0 I find that questionable .
The issue with frame speed is that as long as it's consistent it's not noticeable, but any discrepancies are seen , if you are expecting 60 and it's drops to 30 you see it , if it's a steady 30 ( numbers are just an example) it's still playable .

Just a slight comparism. My PC is about 11yrs old (Radeon HD7800 Gfx). I own Bioshock Infinite and Tomb Raider on PC as well as on PS4. Both run absolutely smooth in 1080p on PC as well as PS4. EDH3.8 runs smooth on console as well, on PC 4fps. Questions?

Well I mostly am only asking for Odyssey and the full "live" experience on "next gen" consoles, though I can see no reason not to add new ships and weapons etc to "last gen ", like we always got!

It was just TheYamiks "Unplayable" footage on the unsupported Steam Deck that made me think that with just a little optimisation the expansion and 4.0 could run on "last gen", but again indeed what I really want and "all" I'm really asking for is the full Elite experience on "next gen" consoles, which is surely still possible! 😯😂😀🤘
No man's sky runs with 60 fps on PS5. So why not the live mode of E:D?

Anyone’s game started crashing today as soon as it finished the cut scene before getting into game? U14 seems so buggy. I logged off on my carrier in an empty system. Sometimes it’s able to log in but most of the time it just crashes. Is it no longer safe to log out on a carrier?

Only people, which never played on 60fps think, that it is "no difference", sorry bro. It is noticable, if in one place you have 60, meanwhile in another only 30. Not seeing this difference is practically impossible.
Yeah, from a biology perspective, the human eye and brain register a fresh image in a sequence being presented to them roughly every 13 milliseconds. That's in the vicinity of 80fps. Which tracks with my ability to tell the difference dropping off at close to 90fps, after that everything is smooth sailing and it's what I target with games like Elite so that any dips are imperceptible.

Of course, you want to effectively double up that cap for anything like VR with stereoscopic rendering, and you need higher refresh rates anyway for certain sync technologies to work.
One of the biggest lessons learned from the Series S though is how much lower graphical fidelity people are willing to accept if it means locking in a smoother higher framerate.
