I really dont want to but its really annoying now , please can you guys work with Epic games , because everytime theres an update it keeps redownloading elite dangerous legacy , its very annoying having to redownload 27GB for no reason every time thanks

Just a question

Having selected 'UPDATE' the launcher goes into locked mode showing

' PREPARING FOR UPDATE'
0% complete - 0.00 Mbps
Estimated time to completion :

Thats it! has been like that for over an hour, cannot even close the launcher as it just gives the usual 'Update in progress' message when clicking the 'X' in top corner.

Anyone else had this problem?

Try closing the elite dangerous launcher using task manager , then try open it again download the update should work

HDD disk are very slow in this phase, in my old pc like 2 hours. So I leave the updates at night, is the normal time for me.
SD units are faster,
I think there is some Verification of ALL files before the update, than can be done faster with SD or M.2 units.

Running the update now, and looking forward to it.

Although - and I know I said this last time, but it bears repeating - for the love of little apples, put a pause button in the installer as well as the cancel. Right now I can't do anything else with my computer more complicated than whinge on the forum without abandoning the update entirely.

AFAIK the temporary cache will not be deleted unless a user does so manually in windows/steam settings, so after validating it should resume.
(this is how it was since the beginning and i have a hard time believing it has changed)

I assume that the option to cancel the download only appears after it actually starts downloading as mine just locks the launcher on 'preparing to update' leaving me with no other way of stopping it than using task manager.

Took a look at the known unregistered comms beacons, this one was already discovered

Handed the problem to Support with all relevant details, updates have never been a problem before the new launcher. With users quoting fast update downloads I cannot see why, with my specs and connection speed this should take over 3 hours just to validate. As it is unless support can solve the issue it looks like my Elite playing days are over as even reloading the launcher failed to change the problem and without the 'update' game will not load

All seems groovy from my basically "newbie" perspective, having returned to ED from a many year hiatus. Smooth and trouble free for me. Thanks for a problem free re-immersion into ED. Have a groovy week.
