Yep, it'd be awesome if certain systems started becoming infamous for their anarchaic gangs of ruthless pirates etc...
Imagine if Robigo had been giving out all those missions, yet it was an Anarchy system and a real       getting in and out of, for instance.

Keep pushing these ideas Viking84, as i think this would be one of the better updates FD could do to this game....

Makes sense to me if the Engineer is a "eccentric scientist/tinkerer", which is what they are suppose to be.

You come to them. They tinker away and might even come up with something extra for you which they are proud of.

You tell them "Meh...do this instead!".

If they like you they will do it...but they are still going to be grumpy about it.

I want to use my insurance companies engineers. Not only can they replicate what I had exactly(even if these so called cutting edge ones cant) they don't charge me any extra for it :)

Alright maybe Frontier should remove mods upon destruction :) sorted. How bout it Brett?

:) Imagine this - you'd have some places that because of their dangerous nature would become known names here on the forums: "You went there? Holy ****, what setup did you use to survive in there? What were the missions like? Did the station look different?"... at the moment it doesn't matter where you go, everything is the same :(

Stop it. You have me jumping up and down, making monkey noises. Then the men in white coats will come, and it goes rapidly downhill from there.

Hate do burst your bubble, but those Engineers doesn't exists. Just like the "doctors" that somehow can find your blown up corpse thousands of light years away and heal it instantly doesn't exist. :p:D

Don't be daft, I thought everyone knew we have insta-jumping escape capsules?

fine with that :)

The reason for being like it is due to the engineers being some esoteric tinkerer is negated by the like for like insurance engineers.

Point being the only reason it's done this way is gameplay and if gameplay can be used to create the system we have now then gameplay can be used to improve it.

.

Cool, they're all eccentric in exactly the same way. That's totally how this works

^^ This! System Security Level is very important information now, it should be clearly visible on the galaxy map. Also, I would not mind if my ship warned me when I enter low sec systems, maybe a HUD element or a voice message would be perfect ..

On top of that it would be great if route planning could use the filter what im using.
Fast travel throug high sec systems or a nice route to exploration location using just scoopable stars.

Still waiting for the Option to change the UI Color :(
THIS! So much this! I'd LOVE to change my HUD away from this gloomy orange to something more appealing/arousing BUT it will also change my indicator of hostile/friendly ships. That is a big nuisance since fast recognition of ships is more important than ever. All it needs are 2 different <GUIColour> settings in the config file, like <GUIColour> and <HUDColour> e.g.. The first setting is applied to all GUI but the radar blobs and selected target info while the second setting is applied ONLY to radar and target info. This change in code should also be easy to apply - just search at which locations <GUIColour> is read out and rendered and change it to <HUDColour> for the area or graphic objects "radar" and "target info".

Same is true for Engineers info - it takes 15-20 seconds to load their faces.
Same is true for mission NPCs in station - takes long to load them.
Same is true for mission icons (arrows, containers, aid hand, ...) - takes WAY too long to load them.
Same is true for galay map.
Same is true for system map.

PLEASE consider a preloading and caching algorithm!
Store the mission icons locally on my PC, there is only a finite set of them. Store the engineers faces locally on my PC, there is again only a finite set of them.
Preload mission NPC faces while docking at a station and cache them.
Preload system map while supercruising/jumping into a new system and cache it so it doesn't have to be loaded every time and opens faster.
Cache current location and proximity of galaxy map so it opens faster the next time I open it.

This not only allows a more convenient player experience but also lowers bandwidth with your servers and server workload and as these things are cached locally.

/I have a 36 MBit internet connection and SSD, so please don't blame loading times it on my rig.

indeed, however, a harmless person can in theory run up large bounties, and a harmless trader in a T7 can still carry 100s of tons of juicy cargo, indeed you may argue a pirate would be attracted to low ranked ships with nice cargo.

Exactly - in which case a high-level bounty hunter or high-level pirate would go for you.

Basically don't rack up high bounties if you don't have the skill/equipment to deal with it. Likewise don't try to trade juicy cargo in a high-risk area unless you're suitably defended.

Similarly taking on a high-risk mission in an underspecced ship should be close to suicidal too.

There -should- be no-go zones in underequipped ships. Players -should- have to think about what dangers to put themselves in compared to their current skill level and/or equipment level. And that danger level -should- be estimateable and somewhat controllable.

do you think needing to re-craft 3 level 3 and 3 level 4 based on an unpopular and clumsy mechanic is acceptable?

if so why? Are you really saying that what we have now is the very best way of doing things?

Not universally unpopular.

I'm not at all saying that it's the very best way of doing things, but FD have stated repeatedly that they want there to be a form of RNG to the engineering mods. After the many toys and pram incidents they have conceded to allow you to at least have the option of guaranteeing which special effect you can have on your weapons. Now consider the fact that before the Beta even hit the very same people who are now complaining about the RNG aspect are the same people who were complaining that the new special effects were far too OP and would ruin combat as you would have people flying around with multiples of the same effect. Once again:

You must realise that in the concessions that FD have already made away from the way they had envisaged the mechanic from working, there needs to be some trade off. But it doesn't really matter, as the "masses" will clearly not be happy until they can have any upgrade they desire with one click of the mouse, at which point there will be (once again) a mass uproar about how broken the meta combat is.

Is anyone else having issues loading into the game?
I have been staring at a perpetually spinning orange clipper for the past 10 minutes but doesn't seem to actually get into the game :(

I've tried it in open, private group and solo.
I've tried verifying the game cache via Steam as well.
Even tried launching ED64 (non-Horizons) and results are the same.

I just started the game, and was very pleased to find a game that was hard, at every turn I was expecting to find a ship full of death coming for me. Only to find that the AI have been nerfed down to a star citizen level. It's not bad enough that we have an eternal toon? how about you implement some cost to living in the black. IE. when you die.... remove the option of re buying you ship, start all over. right now the cost of stupid is only a few credits. IMHO this game can be so much better.

No, sorry - your end I think. I just got in.
