Patch Notes Update Update 2.1.03 Incoming

I've noticed my Python is taking almost the entirety of the engine gauge when I boost. Prior to update I believe it was taking around half.

That's a severe reduction in performance.

Why did they do this?

I believe boost was given a, ahem, boost in 2.1 (perhaps experimental? perhap unintentional?) and that this has now been restored to the 2.0 levels.

- Main game power distributors were too good on eng/sys across the board and have been brought back to 2.0 levels

Bucky is not pleased ...

Hi Marc, yes and yes,
I am also waiting for them to reply, last 3 update have had similar prob. to do with optus users.

FD usually attach a modified file to there reply, I install it and all is well, I bet thats the same with you.
it is getting a little old.

If you know of someone that has got there update working ok, you could ask then if they could copy the file and email it to you. then you could post it on here .

Unfortunately i dont know any members, havent been playing too long.

Regards Peter

Tell me what files are needed and I will host them on my server.

"When determining the rank of NPC ships for interdiction, use the player's combat rank, rather than their highest PF rank, although add 1 rank if their trade or exploration rank is higher than their combat rank"

So basically you get interdicted 99% of the time when you are trading, or carrying goods. So this means as I'm Deadly Combat rank and Elite in Trade everything that interdicts me now is going to be an Elite. So I now know that I will never need to bother fighting them, as my trade ship is not going to stand a chance against anything Elite, and even if I change cargo for extra shields and SCB it will be a long fight so again what's the point?

I don't understand this "Fix", surely a random level would be more realistic, what's the chances of always being interdicted my an Elite something..ALWAYS, not very realistic, A random selection would make it far more interesting.

Some great fixes on the list great job FDEV's, this one is a mystery to me.

Yep just as I thought, Was trading last night, got interdicted by 3 elite condas and 1 elite FDL, Just boosted away luckily cutter is a nipper        so no worries there, but really fail to see the point. And the only way go stop repeat interdictions by same ship over and over is to log out and in again......again pointless.

This back and forth changing AI behaviour for me feels very unprofessional. Beta testing is way over.

My opinion sticks with those who say: AI level should not be tailored to player rank but dependent on system-security and of local ingame conditions (system-states, powerplay-states, neighbourhood)

The only times when AI difficulty could and should scale to player attributes is when he has acitve missions with a threat marker and maybe also scaling NPC bountyhunters AI skill dependent to the height of the bounty on the players head.

Maybe FD could install a noob-protection - meaning AI could be "soft" in the first month after first registering to the game.

I'll try to lay back and wait until powerplay gets a fix (the only part of the game I really cared for) - and then another two months after beta until the finetuning and back and forth changes are settled. This means maybe at the end of the year...

AI has nothing to do with rank
Ai has been dumb before 2.1, now it's the way it should be.

The rank/equipment of NPC are tailored, as it is now, by the system state, or even the specific location in the system.

NPC that are generate to chase you and only you, are capped to your rank +1, and it's a good thing.
NPC that are generate from the mission you are doing, are caped at the mission rank, and it's a good thing.

If you do mining or combat or bounty hunting or poiracy, etc... you could face enemies of any rank.

Why did they do this?

What I think is:
Before 2.1 IA was dumb, anyone been interdicted was able to defeat even enemies many rank above him.
With 2.1 the IA now it really dangerous, and only few can fight against enemies of a greater rank, so when interdicted, anyone is running away.

So, with 2.1.03 they have capped the rank of enemies generated to interdict you in order to be a fair fight to you (the IA is always the hard one, the rank/equipment are paired with yours) AND limited your possibility to run away, basically they are forcing to fight against enemies who interdict you.

It's not a bad thing, but again and again, they are forcing players to play like they want, not like the players want.

The fixes have helped some i still havent found a single security firmware but thank you for the update. Now please kill one of the rng elements. In either material drop and requirement or in the upgrade process.

Sure it's a bad thing. If they really must take 'how good you are' into account (and, to date, gaining the ranks has been more to do with time played than how good you are), then they should also take into account what you are flying. An elite fighter in a fighting ship can take on anything. An elite fighter in a trader cannot, not because the player is no good, but because his ship is not a fighter.

Checking also the ship make no sense.
Or any encounter is always location based or some can be rank based, as the rank is the only way to know how skilled is a player.

If you are a combat Elite, you should be aware that if you go in a trade ship, you'll have hard time if interdicted (like anyone else).

Outstanding update! Thanks FDev!!! However, I've noticed that since the patch came out, all NPC ships are unable to land at ports. They hover on the far right of the pad. Can you please address this at your earliest convenience? Thanks!

Probably because they're using the same logic as the now-broken Docking Computer.

Yes - and now I see that the stations are destroying the NPC ships who don't land in time. They are considered Trespassing! Amazing - I hope they fix this soon as it will have a big impact on the BGS - NPCs deliver meds to prevent Outbreak and other supplies.

I have noticed that yesterday with my docking computer also. I tried to dock in a station and the ship went to the right end of the platform and stayed there. Attempts to disengage and restart the docking procedure did not change the behavior. After several retries, I finally managed to dock manually (which is not very easy when you have a docking computer installed).

Hi there. The file name is: audiomusic_music_menus_bnk_s.aux and the file is located here:

I had the same problem - optus again - but I've discovered that it only happens on my desktop computer. I could update on my laptop just fine. Only significant differences I could see was that the laptop had an Nvidia chipset while the desktop has AMD (not likely to be the cause) and the desktop has ED directly installed while the laptop has it installed through Steam. I uninstalled it from the PC and reinstalled through Steam and now it updates just fine.

It is easy.
You can deactivate it in the modul panel either before you dock, or inside the dock.
Docking computer works fine on outposts though.
