Apologies, you replied to my question to Marcus Tullius and I lost track.

If people prefer the new system but acknowledge that some (perhaps many) prefer the old system them there doesn't seem to be any reason why the developers can't meet in the middle. The current FSS is so unappealing to me that I am on the point of giving up with Elite Dangerous. If that is what FDev are OK with then good luck to them, I just think it's a real pity that they hack off their loyal customers like that.

Easy to do with how dynamic the thread is,but thanks for clarifying,it is a welcome gesture.
And my apology for hijacking the question ;)

This new scanner is only for people to make money easier and for people who was too lazy to fly 10k or more to scan a planet .

Spot on. This is why those most vocal in their support of the FSS denigrate those who prefer the ADS method. I got to the grade of Elite in exploration by patiently going to far off planets and exploring as near to real life (in game) as possible. Those who bang on about how great the FSS is just want to sit near the systems star and make credits and get their name against it for doing as little as possible. Exploration, the most interesting part of the game for me, has been ruined by this pseudo excuse for an exploration tool. The FSS should be an additional tool to gain more planetary information after the traditional ADS honk, it shouldn't just be instead of the ADS. And if it worked that way I'm sure there'd be less bellyaching as those who prefer the FSS can still use it to save travelling 100+k to an object, and those who prefer the traditional way can carry on as before.

This is a great game that everyone should enjoy whatever their preferred method is. Fdev please take note.

Well, I don't have a problem with the FSS as an idea for improved scanning---after all, you'd expect scanning technology to improve range and resolution over time. BUT, as a pilot and a gamer, I do NOT like a bunch of mini-games added to this. Which is exactly how they executed the FSS. I am in ED to fly and, now that I'm a VR player, immersion is key for me. The way they executed the FSS completely takes me out of immersion. It takes me out of immersion as badly as the galaxy and system maps do. To be fair to them, I haven't been able to imagine a more immersive way to do it, but you'd think SOME would have a better idea than what they're doing now.

Meanwhile...WHAT'S THE EXCUSE FOR NOT BEING ABLE TO BUY A MAMBA OUT IN COLONIA? Seriously, this makes no sense to me.

"We are sorry to announce a delay in shipments arriving from Zorg Peterson, this is due to unexpectedly high traffic in the regions..."

LOL!
The FSS seems to polarize people... [haha]
In that aspect it is truly evil, yes. But the former non-gameplay placeholder 'solution' did this polarization as well, you just didn't hear much from it as those who didn't like it had no other choice as to swallow that nonsense. But now it's your turn! :D

There have been many calls to tone it down by explorers of note, many suggestions were made and in Beta 2.2 (I think) the Black bodies was a welcome change... until however, the majority wished for the old see all scanner back, they wanted to continue to cherry pick while the Explorers wanted to Explore.
Now you have the tool that allows those 'cherry pickers' a better and quicker road to even more riches... of course they're gonna support it.

It seems to be a thing now that if there's dissension ED throws more credits and less time at it to get the majority on board... it's working too, the more you can get players to fight your battles the easier life is.

...until however, the majority wished for....

And what does the majority wish for now? Whatever that might be would mean that the minority are going to be excluded as before. It is the way things are, I don't know if the Dev's roadmap includes backtracking but it would be interesting to find out in the future, at least if a definitive statement was made in respect to recent changes maybe (but unlikely) the ongoing 'discussions' regarding the changes would stop.

Well, I personally like the FSS and I still fly to interesting planets far away to map them. I like to use a tool to reveal the system instead of just a button. And for me it's great and I enjoy it. Thank you FD!

Moderators, I believe it is that time... could you lock this thread please? It has devolved into people arguing over the FSS / ADS and has almost nothing to do with the update patch notes posted. I am not telling you how to do your job, just that I would do it for you if I could. Thank you for your professionalism, and your time.

it just posts the patch notes , doesn't say I can't talk about other things too =-P
.
Why not do a Poll including EVERYONE and not just go an do stuff on the say so of the loud ones that did Beta , what about the people that didn't do Beta..Don't we get a say too.

Ahh well you see, it doesn't work like that!

I did the Beta (well the first half) and made a few notes in the Feedback... like, "how do I tell which planets of the 87 bodies in this system that I probed yesterday as I've forgotten?... can we have a marker?
ZIP...
Nothing...
Players are asking for it still, suggesting all sorts of ways for ED to let us differentiate, there is a way though apparently, by sifting through some pages on a side panel but that's just stupid!

So, No, you don't count nor does your opinion, as far as decisions at the round table go, the direction and depth of the game does not concern the players at all, and it looks like the beta was just to highlight major bugs and sod everything else.

Well, it's a good job that you're not in charge then isn't it?

You see people have a right to post an opinion about whatever they wish and if it's concerning the 3.3 patch then they should not be silenced!
If you don't want to read their comments any longer you can simply resist the offending posts and spend more time playing the game!

There is a notification in the sysmap that a body has been mapped (this was added following beta feedback I believe). There is no indicator on the HUD which might be useful for some, in practice I haven't felt the need for one because I check the sysmap to consider whether to map another target, and if I am mapping the moons of a gas giant I just do them in alphabetical/number order.

You are still not getting this. It should not have been removed. I appreciate that you disagree because you didn't like it, that doesn't change the simple premise that there was no need to remove it, it should not have been removed and therefore it should be reinstated. I don't expect this to be a particularly difficult task, the code is mature & known, nothing needs to be investigated. The only incompatibility with the old process (that unexplored bodies remained visible on subsequent visits) can easily be dealt with either way. It just needs to be done and I am disappointed it was not done in this update as I said in post #2.

We get it perfectly we just disagree with your opinion. Especially about how simple it would be to code a replacement.

It did, again, due to future work involved in maintaining it. You know, the thing you keep ignoring.

There is no information to support either direction, it is not a factor. If it is a lot of work, a lot of time was wasted. If it was not a lot of work not so much time was wasted.

Do you now understand that the old discovery process didn't need to be removed and that that time taken to remove it was wasted?

My connection to servers keeps crashing .... :( it is getting really annoying ...I even tried to close my firewall but it did not do anything. Any ideas why?
