Update 8: Emotes

Well it appears the inmates from state of the game have hopped the fence and camped here for the night.

I discovered a couple of months ago that Pinball Dreams was available for the iphone/ipad. My poopy breaks are now considerably longer than necessary...
You've just reminded me about pinball dreams / fantasies. I loved those games.
My early 90's was Frontier, sensi soccer, protracker, pinball fantasies, Syndicate.

Probably making it optional keybinding would not hurt as well as something like "last used emote".
And what about making emotes accessible via quick chat, like "/e o7"?
The part with the "/e o7" sounds oki. According to standard in other emotes, it would even be merely /o7.

Having it as text to trigger has the big advantage that you can have plenty of them and are able to trigger them quickly when you want to. Of course, we'd also need to have a list-like menu available. It sure is a slower way to get to them, but as you probably don't know them all by heart, especially right away, this feature would absolutely be needed. And would be easier to expand than the wheel they show.

On optional keybinding: but which ones would be worthy to be a bound key and which ones not? How many would you bind? And could i have the Shutdown Field Neutralizer as emote, please? That one is begging to for a hotkey since many years and still got none.

I also see some need in a tool, which can mark certain targets and optionally share their positions with your teammates. Or even some sort of tactical map tool for quick navigation in combat zones and coordinating team actions (so to mark positions on battlefield), but that's another story...

That's a good thing. But not an emote. :)

Sounds interesting but sorry, EDO in the only game I play, well, other than Toon Blast on my phone.

I was only going by what was presented in the teaser video and SCN livestream.
That's why i not only pointed to other games, but described how things work there and why i think that the point functionality should be more than a mere emote.

So item #6 in the hand held realm?

Hmm, i am not too much in ground combat, would have to see what the #6 actually is. But yea, such a pointer could be one of the tools we have.

Off the top of my head...

1 = primary weapon (large)
2 = secondary weapon (small, sidearm)
3 = power tool
4 = scanner tool
5 = cutter tool or bio-extraction tool (IIRC)

6, 7, 8 and 9 are currently tied to other, single use, items (since update 4 or 5 I think)
 
Come to think of it, if the ministry of funny walking emotes was included, it would be a way to incapacitate NPCs if aimed at the crotch.
