:S Strange choice to create three bobbleheads of random characters from another game ahead of the PP characters from this one, for example. Not to mention there are still ships which don't have any purchasable paints at all, which I would have thought would also be a higher priority.

Just an observation.

Because alpha.

Frame rates around stations/asteroid rings/planetary surface/surface ports?

Only tried a super fast run around a planet (250km/s) and experienced no lag. Then I rushed in here to report. I'm going to a station now.

Here'a pic of me 5 minutes ago. Pls dont make fun of my socks haha :D

Not at all mate, it's good news that the CV1 is running so well. I'm still going for the Pascal cards, are you running the 980TI? I may just stick with mine until the full range of Pascal's are out.

Monday's not too far away, I don't play ED on the weekends anyway, I had planned on a long session today. It's a shame they broke DK2 support.

Yes, a 980Ti, mediocre overclocked

Paintjobs are probably a different question ..
I kind of like the idea actually .. "random stuff" on dash.

I brain-farted a proposal for this a few months ago: random/procedurally generated rubbish, that floats, physics-enabled, around your cockpit, until you pay a token valeting fee. Useful for when you're down to your last few Cr facing a rebuy screen and need to look for loose change around the seatbelt mounts.

I'd like a (static, mounted) "Chunk o Painite" still
(33,000 cr/ton! :D)

That's great news. Keep playing. Bear in mind that you are all the people checking out the new VR patch for bugs, and we are now all playing the game vicariously through you.

I was considering playing something else in VR, but I guess when it comes down to it, Elite is the only game I want to play... even if it's only in flat-o-vision.

Seems like alot of effort to support VR - what % of players actually use it? Would like to see some IMPACTFUL bugs fixed....you know, scan and ram, locking in RES/FSD/Random spots...sigh....

It does still work using dk2 though Frank, just use 0.8 runtime with steam vr and you're grand (or so Ive read)

Ah c'mon man dont be mean. Us vr users (10%- 15% or so wasnt it?) haven't had any vr update lovin' in a good long while now, at least a couple of updates ago. Also this ties in with the CV1 launch on Monday so it makes sense that they release a vr orientated patch about now.

The impactful bugs you have listed are all part of the next big update.

I was a little concerned my poor wee machine would be slowed down just a tad too much by the Steam VR wrapper. It is only four days. I should manage four days.

Of course if someone was to come on this thread and confirm that 0.8 and Steam VR still works...

Seems to be working fine with 0.8 and Steam VR, I'm upgrading now. Come monday we can switch to 1.3

Could you come back here to confirm for definite that it works?

I have heard this setup affects performance?

My rig is literally on the edge of acceptable.

It will all be fine in a few days. I am worryingly addicted to VR and ED :O

I liked 0.6! All the games I enjoyed work with it!

It is very likely not the entire team working on everything, the whole scan and ram thing will likely be fixed with 2.1 as they've said several AI upgrades are coming, as for locking in on RES and such I haven't heard anything about that, they 'are' working on it.

I had performance issues when it first came out, but recent patches to SteamVR Beta and/or the AMD beta drivers have significantly improved the experience, to the point that it feels identical to the 0.5 runtime alone that I was using.

So give it a shot. The alternative is to not play in VR until Monday, when the 1.3 runtime is released.

From support on twitter:

Today's release is for the 1.3 Oculus SDK, and there are no known work arounds for the DK2 at this time.

Interesting they should announce this despite users now confirming DK2 is still working ok.

Have I misunderstood the tweet?

Not sure if this is being addressed, but it would be awesome to have a hotkey to enable/disable the "menu look" when using a HMD. Currently, in order to disable a ship menu popping up when looking left, right, up, down, you have to go into the settings and disable it. Often times, when flying or driving the SRV, the menus popping on and off when glancing left or right is very annoying. But there are other times (when navigating in supercruise for instance) where being able to look left and have a menu pop up is beneficial without needing to use a hotkey on the keyboard or HOTAS.

I'm proposing a hotkey that would toggle all ship menu look popups on and off. When you don't need the menus, they're off. Then when you do, a simple hotkey and the menus respond to the head direction. Think that will work? Helps out in VR a lot. :)
