Update on Communication

Greetings Commanders,

I want to speak directly about the lack of official streams and reduced communications from our social channels since the start of 2022. I understand the concerns this has caused and hope this statement goes some way to alleviate them.

The whole team are excited to share all of the upcoming content for this year including new updates, content expansions and the next major phase in the ongoing narrative following the Azimuth Saga finale. Beyond this, we also look forward to sharing our new streaming format when the series returns as a weekly show. Changes will include new segments, year-round Twitch Drop campaigns and studio-quality production once we move back into the office.

However, there are several questions that must be answered internally to inform this communication plan. It is important to me that we address key subjects by priority and when we do that the information we provide is clear. The team and I are working incredibly hard behind the scenes to gather this information and provide these answers.

As always, the team and I are grateful for your patience and support while we wait for the opportunity to share all of the above with you. We will update you with more detail as soon as we can.

See you in the black o7.

Wew might as well keep radio silence better than posting a wall of text with absolutely no meaning whatsoever

Pretty sure the radio silence will continue.

I can't help but to be jaded at the fact that everytime FDEV comes out with "we are going to engage/re-engage the community with better communication, it starts off great and then fades after a few months. All thrust, no vector. In this last message, while giving a snippet of information, it really doesn't say anything. I've learned not to expect anything and it looks like that attitude won't be changing anytime soon.

I said at the time that this new error of communication wouldn't last.

Glad to be right again.

What does this even mean?

I am pretty sure this is what it means....

“And beyond all else he glimpsed an infinite gulf of sheer darkness, where solid and semi-solid forms were known only by their windy stirrings, and cloudy patterns of force seemed to superimpose order on chaos and hold forth a key to all the paradoxes and arcana of the worlds we know.”
― H.P. Lovecraft

Cheers and thanks for update. Silence after the new year/10 updates of nearly constant communication has been a bit worrying.

Yes they are on basically zero communication at the moment. That's all around. To everyone. We just have to hope they pull out of it.

It would have been better if you'd just said nothing, because in essence, that's exactly what you've said..

It's actually a bit worse, since people are already trying to read between the lines. So far theories I've heard have been:

"They're on strike until they get clarification on consoles because they're sick of hearing about them in streams"
"CMs are being redeployed to other games, and they don't know what the ED team will be for 2022"
"The game is going into maintenance mode, and they're trying to decide how to break the news"
"It's just corporate speak and we'll be getting more of the same until the financial year ends"

And several more which get more and more tinfoily hat as you go on. So instead of alleviating fears as it was intended, its just kicked off more (doomy) speculation.

My read on this is that the community team and probably some others in Frontier are pushing for a clear long term plan that will be worked on. One of the issues with Elite over the years is everything seems to be done on the fly as little pet projects, eg CQC, powerplay, Codex, Fighters etc, they dont fit in properly with the game and get fleshed out. Instead they are worked on for a few months then abandoned. There needs to be an over arching plan so that when they introduce something its for long term gameplay reasons that they can add to.
