Hardware & Technical Virpil WarBRD, T-50 Throttle and Constellation grip video review

Marginally off topic, but what do you guys use for vertical and lateral thrust when not using a TM 16000 throttle? The paddle level and analog joystick work so well, I'm not sure what else I could use. Switching to digital buttons seems like a real step down.

Any thoughts?

I have heard of maybe only, two-three people reccieving their throttle as of yet.
It's not so much for Elite I buy it, but more for DCS. Until then I still have my CH throttle, which has a fully analog thumbstick, one that actually works well, hence why me and at least one other here stick with it.

They say the Virpil throttle will get same eventually, I'm hoping this could be something I can swap in myself, until then,
the Delta constellation grip has a thumbstick, seems to be similar and at least as good as to what is found on an xbx\ps controller.

It really does smash the Warthog Throttle in terms of usefulness. The Warthog throttle is great for the DCS Warthog module, but fairly limited for most other applications.

Agreed. This is exactly what i learned after using a WHthrottle in DCS and Elite Dangerous. I eventually tired of DCS; a little "too realistic" for my taste. But in ED, I needed a throttle that would give me a greater number of controls, especially buttons or simple toggle switches. That is where the T50 outshined my WHthrottle easily. I hate going to keyboard in a space sim, preferring most, if not all of my controls to be accessible via flight/throttle system.

Why not get the Virpil ones? Way cheaper, and extremely well made. Not taking away from Monster Tech - they look to be an epic product,, but damn, the pricing difference...

i have a couple of those. if anyone wants one of them (or both) just give me a heads up, i'll give them away if you can take care of the shipment (no idea how much that could be, i'm in spain and they are heavy). they are now just unwieldy pieces of metal taking up space in my closet. note that they are for mongoost50 (other devices need adapter plates available from virpil) and are the first version (the current v2 ones are a bit angled).

they are actually fine and dandy but i ended up getting a monstertech stand anyway. this is way more straightforward, specially if you use pedals. the problem of desk mounts is that you can't really do anything else with that desk unless you take them off, and i got tired of all the mounting/dismounting. a stand with everything bolted on is just easier to shove in front of the desk. but in time even that got too unwieldy and i finally set everything up behind 'me' in a corner and it's now resident there, if i want to fly i just have to turn around my chair, put the headset on and i'm in the cockpit, it can't get better.

wait, it can. for now i just have to put the keyboard in my lap and the mouse on the armrest :D it sort of works for the litttle (but critical) use of m&kb i do, but i plan to just mount some simple shelf on top of the stand.

Moral of the story? Drink beer, improve your business!

cheers!

The new T-50 throttle now has an analog stick (at the index finger, sadly, for me, which means re-learning about 3 years of muscle memory...), but otherwise, quite similar to the CH Pro throttle (just lots of extra buttons), so I may have to bite the bullet at some stage.

€350... Ouch...

Yeah. If they'd gone with a thumbstick they'd have my money for sure.

I'll probably dust off my Thrustmaster TWCS and see if I can get used to that index finger analog stick. If I can pick it up quickly without any RSI, I'll probably grab the new Virpil throttle.
