Guide / Tutorial Voice Controlling Elite:Dangerous - A Guide

Profile for VA

Having had many weeks to change and alter my alter ego Emma (who has attitude issues) I thought it was time to pay-it-forward and offer it out for use by others. (obviously it is set up for my needs and you will have to amend for your needs, So bear in mind my key bindings may not be the same as yours but their easy to change once you grasp the concept lol...

As for emma well you can change as you see fit...

(There are multi-functions activated and deactivated hence size of the file) enjoy Commanders.

Hi

Trying to import this into Voice Attack 1.5.0 (and also tried 1.5.1 beta) but get "Error loading profile data. There is an error in XML document 1,17". Any ideas?

Hi are you importing it as is as a .vap file? voice attack should pick it and you are presented with a blank screen. You then click on the edit profile icon (shape of a human torso an head) and when that opens you then have all the commands. Remember your key binding may not be the same as mine and you will have to make changes either to your's or my set.

I have downloaded the file (renamed it so it did not conflict with other profile names) this may be the issue if u have other profiles.. But it worked fine for me when I run the file.

Let me know if it is non of what I mentioned thanks and thanks for giving it a try :)

I got this as well when first trying to import your .vap file. I took a look at line 17 with Notepad++ and looks like you have "<X>100</X>", I changed that to "<X>0</X>" and I am now able to load you profile.

Many thanks for highlighting that I am at a loss as to why that might happen not having done any programming. I hope you found some of it of use.

Just a reminder to anyone using VoiceAttack, if you want something a bit more natural sounding than a Text To Speech response from your computer, I have put together a 'Vocal Response Pack' which has a huge collection of voice samples recorded specifically for this purpose, by a professional voice actess.

The thread about it is here: http://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=23768

Well Ive tried this a few times and just cannot get it to recognise me.

Windows 7 voice recognition sucks major balls tbh, and yet my phone and tablet have no problems with me using voice search and get it right 99% of the time.

Shame really.

Have you tried training it a couple of times? As well as the short MS starter there is a longer version but I cant remember how I found it

Ive done it about 3 times, not sure why it sucks so bad, ive just been testing my mic and recognition by using google voice search on my desktop and it works well (needs zero training), for some reason windows voice recognition just sucks and cant seem to understand me, can the voiceattack software be used with other voice activation software?

Just downloaded the Voice Attack software myself... :D

Are there any other profiles to check out? What's everyone doing for choice of voices??

Depends whether you want to use the windows voices or get others like Ivona, (that's where Emma originates from) but that's a paid one ;)

Regarding other profiles there are many others offering their profiles in forum and on Youtube, good luck.

I've been working on a Voice Pack.. a custom made collection of voice samples recorded by a real human! Link is in my sig if you're interested. Not 'quite' the flexibility of a TTS solution, but more natural. (and a whole lot cheaper than IVONA)

Yes, that's on my to buy list... One really stupid question, and apologies in advance.

I've tried downloading a few of these profiles to Voice Attack and it appears the key selection to trigger these items are wrong. For example one of the profiles I tried had F6 as the trigger for landing gear when on my computer it's insert.

What am I missing? Feeling like a newb here

OK! The CPU usage is minimal. While not speaking it's basically nil!

When talking it will be a few percent, at most about 10% for a fraction of a second on my machine.

So considering it will mostly be sitting there doing nothing, it's no issue to CPU usage IMHO.

Have you changed the mappings in the controls option away from standard for your controls? If you have, then the listing you are looking at for VoiceAttack is either the original settings or someone else's preferences for control mappings.

All you need to do is over write the keypress saved in VoiceAttack to use your preferred key press and it will use your setup instead.
