I've found a number of the VoiceAttack maps have binds which are even bound in ED?
eg: Next Hostile etc etc. These don't even have a default key in ED (I believe).
No but there are lots of keys in the keyboard that are not used yet - you can use those and link them just to VoiceAttack you don't need to use the keyboard to use or have a HOTAS button bound then.
True... Obviously people just need to be aware that they'll need to fill in these "blanks".
I must admit, I haven't filled many of the blanks like "next hostile" mainly because I'm in Standard Beta so only have the scenarios for now which limits some of the mappings that I might find useful after 29th.
Yes, that's on my to buy list... One really stupid question, and apologies in advance.
I've tried downloading a few of these profiles to Voice Attack and it appears the key selection to trigger these items are wrong. For example one of the profiles I tried had F6 as the trigger for landing gear when on my computer it's insert.
What am I missing? Feeling like a newb here![]()
Same here... But the difference in using this application even in just the combat demo is like night and day. It's easier and far more fun... I mean who doesn't enjoy saying "BOOST!"
Only problem I had was with the speach recognition refusing to recognise "deploy weapons" and "stow weapons". Just would NOT understand! So in the end I had "weapons".
Any idea how to help it/correct it?
Have you run the Windows voice recognition training? (I'm assuming you have such a thing available) Each run through helps. Also what I have done is put a key word in front of each command - in my case the name of my ship computer is "Jinx" so I use that so for deploying hardpoints I say "Jinx weapons out" and most of the time it happens.
Yes, went though the (long) training session.
"Weapons in" and "Weapons out"... I like that. I'm sure it will understand that as it doesn't understand "weapons deploy" and "weapons stow".
What I was hoping for in the speach recognition software was somewhere where:-
I'd say "weapons stow"
And it would come up with what it understood, eg: "weaponing stew"
And for me to then correct it and type in "weapons stow" so it would understand its mistake and correct it in future.
I couldn't see that feature
Edit: While I understand your preference for a "Jynx" before all commands, it would make some (of mine) a bit of a mouthful. "Jynx combat shields" to put energy to weapons and shields. But it is a nice way of making them more "secure". ie: You not initiate commands by accident.
Some of the voice ''combination'' activations do not make sense unless we know what keyboard keys they refer to. If you guys know what i mean?
example: Wombats Evasion
evade 1 Custom Press down Q key, Press R key and hold for 5 seconds and release, Release Q key
evade 2 Custom Press down E key, Press F key and hold for 5 seconds and release, Release E key
evade 3 Custom Press down E key, Press R key and hold for 5 seconds and release, Release E key
evade 4 Custom Press down Q key, Press F key and hold for 5 seconds and release, Release Q key
to set this up myself, i would need to know what controls keys are bound to the letters Q,R,E,F.
Another Captain with the words Go Cold/Go Hot managed to influence multiple systems. He posted the the script(much appreciated) but not the key binds.
cheers
Jacksey, it all depends what your setup is and how you bind your keys, for example E could be thrust or yaw right, Q thrust or yaw left, just as the R can be thrust up and F for thrust down. But this is down to how you want your bindings to be. Your using the best persons profile (I used Wombats profile to learn VA from too) Once I figured how he set his out on the keyboard I then set about evolving my setup (originally set up for X52 binding) but as I have changed to the warthog Hotas I had to rekey everything.
Remember your setting it up for your play, not others. So the idea is to take each profile as a starting point and work it to your system. Use the 1st single player Scenario as the place to try out each of the keys to learn what they do. Evade one thru four, takes you to the 4 corners of your screen so change them about so it's unique to you, but know what they each do. It was the fastest way for me to know what each command or key binding did without getting attacked in game. I am still hopeless flying but I get to shout commands out rather than fumble with keys in the heat of things. Trust me in a few days you will be an expert doing it an wonder what all the fuss was about...
Good Luck Commander![]()
If you bind the panels to 3 individual keybind (the default keys should be 1-2-3) you can press the same key you used to focus your left/right/bottom panel and it should return to the forward view.Quick question.
Is there a way to look forwards. For example you can bind a "look left" and "look right" to look at your two other control panels (left & right), but it then seems to return to a full front view, you need to "look forwards" (to the scanner) and then do it again "look forwards" to return to a full front view.
So is there a way to simply return your view straight forwards with one command?
I think you're missing the point, or I've not been clear enough. The idea of voice command is they should be quick and easy. ie: You say what you want to do, without have to think about it.If you bind the panels to 3 individual keybind (the default keys should be 1-2-3) you can press the same key you used to focus your left/right/bottom panel and it should return to the forward view.
In VA that means
Simple case - just tell the same command again: say "left" to go to the target panel, "left" again to switch back
You can set and IF condition on variables in VA??? That would be a solution!!!!Advanced case (dedicated look forward command) - you use the new conditional variables to have a specific command to reset view no matter wher you have the focus; when you say "left/right/scanner" press the corresponding key and set condition to "A/B/C", then, in the "look forward" command, check the value of that variable, press the matching key, and clear the condition
I don't have VA on this machine, so i can't send a sample profile, but it's less complicated than it sounds... mind you, this needs the latest VA beta installed
You can set and IF condition on variables in VA??? That would be a solution!!!!
EDIT: It seems you can use variables & conditions in VA. I kind find any documentation on it thoughI'll need to go away and look!
