The biggest annual survey of the flight sim community recently showed 17% of those users already have VR. I expect the figure is similar across the broader sim community
I'd already been looking at FS2020 as a replacement for ED on the basis that if I have to fly in flatscreen I might as well have scenery to look at. With VR support ... well, I have a Reverb G1 so I'm not super thrilled about the G2 thing, but I expect the G1 will be supported sooner rather than later. To the new annoucement VR coming this autumn. Initially for the G2 which is their primary platform but other steamVR headsets coming after
In related news MS of all people have shown it is possible to mak a decision and then change it due to customer feedback
MSFS 2020 has gone from No VR in December 2019
To OK we will do our best but no promises and an it won't be at launch
To Probably not at launch but it is a top priority and we have people actively working on it

Microsoft Flight Simulator VR Support Confirmed For Fall, But Only Windows MR At First (Update)
Update: Originally this story reported that VR support was only coming for the HP Reverb G2. Now, developers have clarified that it will actually support all Windows Mixed Reality headsets at launch and is coming to other headsets/platforms later. The original post has been completely edited to...uploadvr.com
Sounds like you’ve misconstrued what happened. Which is familiar :/
They initially said no VR, seemingly reacted to a market push and said they’d try and add VR (probably not for launch), and have now announced partial VR support for approx a few months after launch. Which people are celebrating.
Meanwhile, regarding ED, VR-heads are still quite naturally grumpy about the cessation of VR support for the expansion, and the lack of a firm commitment to adding it after launch.
If FDev were to announce partial support coming a few months after launch, we’d probably celebrate too. Weirdly enough![]()
Wow you do like to reinvent history to support a narrative . MS said no VR, lots of pressure they said ok we will investigate it.. feedback was really positive at that so they made it a top priority and now it IS confirmed. If MS said they were fully committed to VR and had people working on it the celebration at them just announcing they'd gone with VR wasn't actually a switch of direction, sounds far more like people misconstrued an earlier announcement confusing "not right now" with "never" and got grumpy for no reason.
Which sounds somewhat familiar.
And the following is drastically increasing the Steam percentage since Oculus runs on its own platform:Thanks for this DD, looked into it and it is a decent survey. 17,800 respondents etc.

It is another signal that VR ownership amongst ED veterans is likely higher than the marketplace average.
Then why is MS Valve and HP all partnered together on the Reverb G2 headset?Wow you do like to reinvent history to support a narrative . MS said no VR, lots of pressure they said ok we will investigate it.. feedback was really positive at that so they made it a top priority and now it IS confirmed.

The difference is MS said long ago , soon after their feedback to them not planning on VR that they were fully committed to VR and had people actively working on it. IF FD would commit to that it would make some happy. Problem is FD use the same "not at launch" carrot all the time, for example PS4VR, NPC wingmen, NPC crew, multiple SRVs, landing on new volcanic world's (yes I remember that little nugget in one of the horizons revels) as well as SRV / SLF / mothership Multiplayer play in multicrew.
So I think it is quite understandable why some feel (myself included) that FD have spent up all their customer faith of jam tomorrow and want more firm commitments before spending any more cash
Maybe you should reread your own post, since that not what it says :
We seem to have shifted from they just made this change because people complained to they announced they were working on this change long ago. You can't have it both ways it's one or the other.
FDEV can't commit since some people are unable to cope with change and have a tendency to cherry pick what they want to read in a sentence. They've been warning people to expect change since the kickstarter, to no avail in some cases.

"head of Microsoft Flight Simulator Jörg Neumann reveals that although VR support wasn’t initially on the drawing table, that they’re trying to make it a possibility. “It honestly wasn’t our plan [to support VR], but we are listening, and we heard it, so we will try our darnedest to make it happen,” Neumann explains. “Whether or not we’re going to pull it off for launch, […] we can’t commit to that at this point in time, but we have the desire.”
Are you getting this repeatedly wrong on purpose to be annoying?
Try reading the context contained within the linked articles. Or, just, read what people are saying. As they’re representing those events in a perfectly clear and accurate manner.
So not very dissimilar at all to "not at launch" then. The FDEV version is actually far more positive from a VR perspective.
Its just a discussion about possible peripherals for a video game.
True enough in isolation. The difference is how many times FD have used the xyz not at launch feature. So not very dissimilar at all to "not at launch" then. The FDEV version is actually far more positive from a VR perspective.

Maybe FD will deliver VR for odyssey, it's not impossible but the odds our not in our favour. (By our I mean VR users , I am fully away you don't give 2 squits either way)
