Wait... VPNs are broken? As in Virtual Private Networks? NO!!!!!!!!

The level of the answer.... You don't even know what you are talking about... I understand why FD is simplifying everything:...

???

the 'doh' part may have irked you a bit but he is actually answering your question in a very sensible way.

the game is trying to reach other information than before... I keep wondering why the change

the new integrated shop is the novelty in this release, and i would expect such would require additional servers and gateways to work, i.e., "other information". ofc it could be anything, but that's about the best guess i could come up with too.

now if you want to deride me too or compare me with a toddler please add a funny gif or make it somehow interesting or funny. let's be creative! thanks!

You don't know much about the VPN market, do you? Ever heard of 5, 9 and 14 eyes?

I know of FVEY.. and their enlargement - multinational signal intelligence organizations.I also know of the utter B.S. spewed about them via YouTube by people barely old enough to aim themselves at the toilet too. And these folks don't need no stinking warrants. Of course, if you're trying to hide from them you probably have bigger things to worry about than your Elite ping times.

I never said they were. I just said they are surprisingly good for using a VPN. What IS better is my ability to retrieve mission data from Frontier. For whatever reason, mission data takes forever and often is incomplete when I play ED straight from my ISP.

LOL, do you really think I'm trying to hide my IP from the FBI? That's not why I use a VPN. I am glad that all you yahoos playing this game can't see my real IP address when we instance together, however :p

Again, they look good because they're not YOUR ping times, they're the ping times reported to your host. IF you're getting any performance improvements it's likely due to how the routers at your host are configured. Unlike home routers, these sorts of companies are using mid to high end professional equipment - Cisco Catalyst, Juniper, and these are configured by people who know the hardware and the embedded OS. One of the reasons I have such high performance at home is because I use a Juniper router as well, and it's configured to not be "chatty" like home routers. I also filter out a lot of foreign web traffic as well as most internet ad servers, dataminers and spiders. I also have the fortune to be behind an ISP black hole, which also greatly diminishes my junk traffic - though on the flip side, it also makes location-based services, like Playstation Vue a near impossibility, as they see me as being some 600 miles away from where I actually am - in a completely different city and state.

And no, I don't think you, personally, are trying to hide from the FBI - that you'd ask such a question tells me you'd be caught within 14 minutes.

Your ping times aren’t any better on a VPN.
They might look better because your VPN host isn’t on a crappy connection, and your ISP isn’t doing something wonky with your game data.

You still have the same connection and same connection speed to your VPN host as you do to any other site out there.

And you’re not really hiding your IP from anyone who really matters. Your VPN provider has logs of every connection coming in to them. One subpoena later and the FBI is still knocking on your door.

Sure, it might throw off some low-end advertisers and scam ware that can’t form a proper sentence, big deal.

But hey, waste your money however you like.

Why would I have to worry about the FBI when I live in China?
