People paid for Horizons. They get Horizons. They didn't pay for the beta test. They don't get the beta test. I think it's quite simple. I preordered a GTX 970 once and nobody invited me to their factories or gave me a press release sample.

You've PAID already for the season. Charging again for it is outright muggery and as has been pointed out, beta "testing" is no such thing since every release does NOT fix bugs pointed out by the people playing it.
So it's even worse, it's paying to test their game and then they just laugh at you all as you join the server they pay £500 a month for (they actually use my old 486 it can handle the load) and then they don't fix the bugs.

You already do as it is added to the price of your sandwich, whereas Beta access is not added to the price of Horizons.

How is lack of Beta access effecting your game experience? Its not as if the live servers have been switched off whilst the Beta is running, all this nonsense of being asked to pay to eat a sandwich you've already paid for? What does that even mean? Are you suggesting that your game is ruined unless you pay for it again?
Its not like anything that happens in there is carried over anyway. If its a simple case of not agreeing with having to pay to be a bug tester then don't pay if it means that much to you.

Call me principaled but when a company uses, cheap greedy tactics like this it tends to show all they care about is money.
We can tell of the quality of this update by looking at it
Planets - big deal we had them in FE2
RNGineers - possibly a weekend to develope? Wheel of fortune on grin
Passengers - waypoints in space! another weekend of coding
MC - 3rd person camera turret game that people won't be using in a month - another weekend's worth of work.
I'm not seeing the value in the purchase here and on top of that, you have to pay to access it as a "beta" - that's cash grabbing hands right there.

I'm loaning my 486 for free so they can charge you more.
Hopefully this season will teach FDev to do betas right instead of using betas as a premium early access alternative.

As I wrote above, unless you are really, actually beta testing then all you are really doing is getting early access to fun new stuff. I have no issues with them charging people for that.
Now, what would be nice is if FDev refunded your beta price if you submit a real, useful bug report.
I don't play the tech demo I have right now and attention? I dunno what to say about what is going on in your appeasing brain so eager to hand over your money for nothing. Perhaps I just have a higher standard of morals than you do and take the time to think about the things in front of me. When there's a game in this barebones demo I'll re-invest but during that time, I'll try to at least make an effort, for free by the way though you're welcome to pay me, to steer the game to a more intelligent and deeper game than the unchallenging, easy boring and expensive game we have right now.
The word you're looking for is 'entitlement', not 'morals'.
Based on what you can achieve in a weekend, I would humbly advise you to take a few months of your time to actually develop the next contender that will bury both Elite Dangerous and Star Citizen.
