Actually, how is thermal shock after the nerf? Is it still viable?

Beam, pulse ... good and really op still. There is new meta. Heat cascade missles. They stack up and wreck.

Guys, girls. I am sure to be banned soon again. I wish we can see each other in better times. This is a great loss to this game.

If the thargoid are hostile this time around... are they going to be easy as well?
Thargoids are ment to be nightmare fuel , so are elite ranked pilots...
 
I hope this isn't true. I've just been going through and adjusting my ships to the new and riskier AI. It was nice to see squares as potential threats as opposed to only the hollow boxes.
 
It's not. I was in a combat zone for almost 2hr. Cutting like a plough through dumb npc's

it might just be a thing with combat zones, similar to the power play bug in combat zones where the enemies just don't shoot. report it in the bugs forum. Nothing in the patch notes said anything about dumbing down the AI.

Thermal shock!!, I kept hearing thermal shock from my ship's computer but it never bothered me in the slightest, I think people were getting freaked out at the very sound of it, as if it was instant death.

I have modded weps but the ELITE NPC almost never fires back. I have NO special effects. It's as bad as commanders :(

I haven't tried the AI so can't comment but I look at that video and I think either he can't fire due to maybe overheating, or some bug. Perhaps some AI bug where weapon capacitor is depleted and it's stuck in 4 pip shields or something?

It just doesn't look right, the Python has you in target and is hardly firing, makes no sense.

I dunno it's just nothing in patch notes about AI changes, if anything deadlys/elites having engineer mods should now make them more dangerous.

And I don't think the issue in your video is gonna be the turn dampening patch change because, as above, the issue is not him getting a target on you, he is literally not firing.

"player skill quality"? What? What does that even mean? Also, why is it that people who are good at video games seem to think themselves superior to people who are not as good, or just average, or even not that good at all? You understand that it's just a game, right?

Also, why do those players often seem to think that they have some god given right to a) dictate the development path of a game and b) decide what is and isn't fun for everyone else just based on the fact that they have better hand/eye coordination or faster reflexes? Your enjoyment of the game is no more or less important than anybody else's. Do you understand?

If the AI is as bad as is being suggested by some people in this thread, then I'm pretty sure it's a bug. Not to do the devs down, I'm a dev myself and I push my fair share of undocumented features out there, especially when under pressure, but this wouldn't be the first time a patch had "unintended consequences" and given that a lot of the work carried out was in the area of the AI, it's reasonable to assume this isn't how FD intended it to be.

Some of you guys really do need to take a deep breath sometimes.

Player skill quality means that npc's can't fight any more and they act like they got lobotomized and watch netflix during a fight. Last couple of hours I spent in conflict zones and fighting elite pirates. They are dumb as bricks again.

Forget about the Thargoids, the precedent has been set. Humanity in the 33rd century are a bunch of sheep that like to collectively blow smoke up each others you know what. The Thargoids better be prepared to willingly spin on the spot and not fire back or else they will be hugged to death.

Sounds like a bug to me. I would expect a patch at some point.

I want everyone in elite to have fun , I do. but I wish there was like an open-hard mode or something.

I dont want to get in the way of those who want easy AI but I can not play elite without it being hard when fighting elites.

I still trust FD however , they are not dumb. however 2.0 has added a lot of handholding tools I dont like , but never complained openly about because they were not important(ish)
I trust that FD will find the right ballance.
 
I haven't been in a CZ yet but I spent some time in a HazRes last night and all the NPC's I tackled fought back in what I would consider an appropriate manner. I got mostly Dangerous opponents and they were fine. I got the jump of course since I wait until they turn away after scanning (as I am sure we all do), but after that I had to work to remain in a good firing position and didn't always achieve it - me in a FAS against an Adder for example. The turn rates of the Viper Mk IV and others such as the Python and Cobra and so on also seemed about right. I had to work for my kills. Taking on a wing of 2 (Python and Adder) hurt a little because while taking out the Adder the Python was busy hacking away at my shields. It all seemed about right to me.

I'm sure there are a few unintended consequences that need to be addressed, and I am sure they will be. Just report them, provide the evidence, and move on. No need to be nasty or hateful. You know the devs are watching and listening so just be civil - you will get way more attention of you are.

I can't get in hour another hour or two. Can someone confirm the AI has had a nerf? The disappointment is palpable if that really is the case.
