So I was responding to a post in regards to Federal Navy Ships interdicting players in Conflict areas and It went on a tangent about checkpoints, and I noticed a few neat ideas and came up with my own that I think would give elite more flavour or dynamic, so my idea is this:
You enter a Warzone or Lockdown System or such, you have the tendency to be interdicted by Federal or Imperial Navy Ships for inspections, what if we added to that dynamic and made it so, whilst in these systems a Navy Vessel will trail the player and give the player an order to make a stop at the nearest CHECKPOINT to get their ship registered on local databases otherwise they may face complications or fines, said complications could be denied landing privileges and services, continuous Navy Interdictions whilst in the system, and perhaps denied security response to pirate attacks, and perhaps a timer could be placed as well, say you have 20 minutes to check in or face a fine if you're scanned and not checked in after that time is up.
Some other interesting dynamics to this could be random civilian or pirate ships being interdicted as we travel in these systems prompting messages such as "I didn't do anything wrong!", "This is illegal!", "I just checked in! what is going on!?" and so on, and could also give Navy Ships random periodic messages in the system such as "This system in under conflict, all Civilian Ships must submit to inspections and register at the nearest Checkpoint.", "All ships must be registered at a checkpoint." it'll give players who have bounties the hint that they should leave immediately.
I like the idea of random interdictions as inspection, it's like a Random Breath Test on Friday and Saturday nights in the hotspots, so it'd be really interesting and somewhat fun to have to go through these sort of things whilst in Warzones and Lockdown Systems, an immersion factor and something to do, it'd give Checkpoints a real purpose and give Warzones a real sense of danger and unrest, Checkpoints exist for a reason, not for something to look at and ignore.
